The reason why I give it such a poor rating is because the male and female speakers both annunciate different parts of a word and it leaves the learner (me in this case) to try and decide which one is correct. And because I bought this app to teach me Swiss German I can't decide which way to say it is right...so essentially I wasted 12.99 for this app because I don't know how to say these words that I am trying to learn. The only interesting part is the short list of useful phrases. The pronunciation is excellent, spoken by older adults. If you don't speak Standard German, start there, not with a dialect. ### 2/5 — Not a great deal *2014-01-05* Very little to offer with this app. If it was $2 I would rank it a 3 star as there is some value, but for $10 this is a rip off. ### 2/5 — Very poor value for money *2012-05-28* The program has a nice interface and is good for learning the basic words. However there are some problems. First, most learners of Swiss German start with high German. As the level is very basic, the majority of students will learn very few new words. Second, the focus is on nouns and not verbs. As there are a lot of basic verb differences between high and Swiss German, this is a large omission. Third, it's terrible value for money (took me about 90 mins to complete all exercises). Basically, if you already have average German, don't bother. If you are a complete beginner, then it could be worth a look. ### 3/5 — Ok but not great *2012-07-12* Good for simple words and phrases. Good underlying tool for learning basics Hangs or crashes after a few phrases tried in quick succession. Could do with a few simple set piece dialogues to help with initial meetings.
