## What is Learn Tagalog?

Learn Tagalog is a straightforward way to build real Filipino vocabulary — the words and phrases you actually need, taught in a way that makes them stick.

Most vocabulary apps show you a word once and move on. This one tracks every word you study and schedules it to come back at the moment you're most likely to forget it. Words you find easy fade into the background. Words you keep missing come back until they don't.

WHAT'S INSIDE

- 259 words across 19 categories — animals, food, family, body, transport, places, colors, numbers, verbs, time, question words, pronouns, opposites, directions, feelings, and more
- 80 everyday phrases in 10 sets — greetings, the market, ordering food, getting around, introductions, small talk, making plans, and asking for help
- Every phrase broken down word by word, so you see how the sentence is actually built rather than memorizing a block of sound

HOW YOU STUDY

Flashcards — browse a category at your own pace, tap to reveal the meaning.

Picture quiz — 126 words are taught with a photograph, so you connect the Tagalog word to the thing itself instead of routing through English.

Review — the words you've studied come back on a schedule. Rate how well you remembered each one and the app adjusts. This is the part that turns studying into remembering.

Progress — a streak counter, per-category completion, and overall accuracy, so you can see what's actually sticking.

BUILT PROPERLY

- Works completely offline — everything is on your device
- No ads
- No account, no sign-up, no email
- Nothing is collected or sent anywhere
- Full VoiceOver support and Dynamic Type
- Light and dark mode, with a manual override if you prefer one

A NOTE ON AUDIO

This version has no pronunciation audio. It teaches reading and recognition — pictures, text, and phrase structure. If hearing native pronunciation is the main thing you're after, this isn't that app yet. Recorded audio is what I'm working on next.

WHO IT'S FOR

Filipinos abroad reconnecting with the language. Partners and in-laws learning to talk with family. Travelers who want more than a phrasebook. Anyone who has tried to learn Tagalog and bounced off apps that teach you to tap the right answer without ever learning the word.

Built in the Philippines.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 3.0 — 2026-08-29

Version 3.0 is a complete rebuild of the app from the ground up.

MORE THAN TWICE THE CONTENT
- 259 words, up from 126
- Nine new categories: Family & People, Numbers 11–100, Days & Months, Time Words, Question Words, Pronouns, Opposites, Directions, and Feelings
- 80 everyday phrases across 10 sets, each with a word-by-word breakdown
- Every word now shows both Tagalog and English — the old version only showed Tagalog

A REAL REVIEW SYSTEM
The app now remembers what you've studied. Words come back on a spaced schedule based on how well you recalled them, so you spend your time on the ones you actually struggle with. Streaks, per-category progress, and accuracy tracking included.

THREE WAYS TO STUDY
Flashcards for browsing, the picture quiz you know from before, and a new review mode that drills only what's due.

REBUILT AND REDESIGNED
- New app icon with light, dark, and tinted versions
- Full dark mode, plus a manual light/dark override
- New launch screen
- VoiceOver support and Dynamic Type throughout
- The download is dramatically smaller despite holding twice the content

Thanks for using Learn Tagalog. Pronunciation audio is next.
