## What is Learn to Read?

Sweet Phonics will teach your child to read in 15 minutes a day.

We help children become confident readers through a structured, research-based phonics curriculum that teaches them to sound out words, build fluency, spell accurately, and read real stories step by step.

Instead of relying on memorization or guessing from pictures, children learn to decode: connecting letters to sounds, blending those sounds into words, and reading with confidence from day one.

Sweet Phonics follows the process supported by decades of reading science: systematic synthetic phonics, carefully sequenced practice, repeated review, and immediate feedback. Each lesson builds on the last so children master the code of reading step by step.

Our curriculum is built on Orton-Gillingham principles—the gold standard reading specialists have trusted for decades and the heart of the science of reading.
Your child will move from letter sounds to blending, spelling, sentences, and real decodable stories, all at a level they are ready for.

New Spelling Mode

In Spelling Mode, children hear words aloud, break them into individual sounds, and build each word one letter at a time. They practice phonics-based words alongside popular Fry sight words—high-frequency words children commonly need to learn for school.

With guided practice and immediate feedback, children learn to listen carefully, segment words, choose the correct letters, and spell independently. This active recall strengthens sound-letter connections and helps essential school words stick.

New Story Mode

In Story Mode, children read fully decodable books matched to their current reading level. Every story uses sounds and words your child has already learned, so reading feels achievable instead of frustrating.

As your child reads aloud, Sweet Phonics listens and helps them practice spoken reading. This gives children the kind of active decoding practice that builds accuracy, confidence, and fluency.

### 1/5 — AI slop

*2026-09-06*

Horrific

### 5/5 — My daughter loves this app!

*2026-08-29*

Sweet Phonics has been an absolute game-changer for my young kids, making learning letters and sounds genuinely fun and engaging. The interactive activities keep them hooked while building essential early reading skills effortlessly, and I love seeing how much confidence they’ve gained. It is an intuitive, well-designed must-have app for any parent or educator looking to support early literacy.

### 5/5 — Best reading app I’ve tried!

*2026-08-26*

I tried several apps and they all seemed to be on entertaining and added a bunch of screen time without learning much. This one is much more focused - very similar in structure to the classic Teach your child to read in 100 easy lessons book. My child’s school also requires them to memorize spelling sight words so the spelling mode also came in very handy!

### 4/5 — A Lot of Great Potential

*2026-07-16*

This is a very fun, engaging, and adorable reading app. It uses phonics very similar to the leading reading and phonics apps, however, I like it more because it’s much more engaging for my 5 year old. She loves the candy themes, characters, and games.

I’m crossing my fingers that this game continues to grow and gets some aesthetic updates: it would be better if the narration of the word sounds and in the general game was more consistent - less robotic in some games and more friendly and encouraging. I would also be happy to see better graphics. The ones that are there are so fun, but the game does glitch sometimes.

Overall, it’s a very great experience for my child. She’s very engaged and is excited to do more. I love that she’s learning and having fun! 100% recommend to others.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your review jaymayy! We actually have made a ton of improvements - including improving the graphics and working out glitches, and added a spelling mode as well. We would love for you to check it out again - let us know if there's anything else we can do better!

*2026-07-01*

I’ve tried several reading apps and this one is by far the most effective for my daughter. The curriculum is very thorough she is able to sound out more words with each lesson. Also the story mode is amazing for catching mistakes and reinforcing concepts. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — WOW! best learning app.

*2026-05-08*

My son has really improved his reading with this app. It teaches the phonics rules which he didn’t learn in school. It is very similar to another one I tried that costed $500. Really glad I found this instead!
