### 3/5 — Functional, but needs some work.

*2021-01-12*

On the mobile app while writing a post when the text box gets more than a few lines long the view jumps all over the place, so you can’t see what your typing. Very annoying.

I saw another review saying you can’t upload photos though, but that seams to be added now because I was able to do that fine.
But I was unable to add comments or like posts on the phone. I am using an iPhone X.

This is a really valuable tool with schools closed so improvements would be really appreciated.

### 3/5 — No “upload photo” functionality

*2020-05-18*

We have been keeping in touch with daughter’s nursery during lockdown and the teachers are sharing updates and asking parents to share their own including photos and comments.

Unfortunately, key functionality which exists on the desktop web browser (upload photos to gallery) does not appear to exist in the app.

As most of our activity photos were taken on our iPhones, this results in a long and convoluted process to get the photos onto my computer and finally into the learning journal gallery via a web browser.

### 2/5 — Can never play videos or view reports on this app

*2020-01-09, version 0.3.3*

As above

### 3/5 — Early version def needs improvement

*2019-11-12*

Great to see it as an app however, it lacks some features. To be able to link accounts that I have for children in different settings would be very useful. Parents can’t add anything to the journal in terms of photos of achievements outwith the school, I use this feature on website. Other than that though, it’s far simpler having it as an app.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks you for your review.

Currently we don't have the ability to link accounts from separate nurseries or schools although this is a feature that will be available in a future update.

Kind regards,

Learning Journals

### 3/5 — Glad to have, needs tweaks

*2019-11-06, version 0.3.3*

Nice to have an app for this instead of the website! Still needs some tweaks:
- text on login forms was white on white background
- no password manager support for logins
- no dark mode support
- moving or swiping between images feels sluggish/clunky

Otherwise: nice app, good work!

### 2/5 — No daily diary

*2019-11-05, version 0.3.3*

This app is pointless without the daily diary!

### 3/5 — Easy to view photos

*2019-11-04*

The app is an easy way to view the photos and layout is good. I had a problem playing any of the videos though so which is disappointing.

Would be useful to add the Wider Achievements tab so that parents can add photos and comments from this end.

### 3/5 — Good start!

*2019-11-04*

The Apps a good start, however doesn’t yet have the option to see the daily diary, so still need to log in to the desktop to see what they’ve eaten, slept etc.
Hopefully this is coming.

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Thanks very much for your review - we're always working on new features for the app but I'm happy to say that Daily Diaries and the Gallery feature are now available to all users.

We'll continue to bring new features and developments to the app through regular updates.

Kind regards,

Learning Journals

### 3/5 — Needs Improvements

*2019-11-01*

This is such a welcome app and it’s so much easier than the desktop version but I have two children and two accounts (as attend different environments) and I have not been able to find a way to link both accounts to the one login on the app. This would be a great feature!

**Developer response:** Hi there, thanks very much for your review.

Currently we don't have the ability to link accounts from separate nurseries or schools although this is a feature that will be available in a future update.

Kind regards, Learning Journals

### 3/5 — A good start

*2019-10-31, version 0.3.1*

A promising first version but needs some work.

The primary use of this app for me is to look at the photos but as it stands it isn’t possible to:
1) zoom on photos
2) enlarge photos
3) pull up a share sheet to send a photo to relatives

Which means I end up using the desktop version anyway to view the photos.

Those would be welcome additions.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Blank

*2026-01-12*

This app is showing up as a blank white page on my iPhone 12 mini.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in

*2025-02-07*

It won’t let me log into the app but I can log in online? I was told the app would be updated within the week. It’s been over a week now and still nothing. When is this being sorted?

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Our brand new app is now available for download do let us know what you think!

### 1/5 — Unable to login

*2025-02-05, version 0.4.13*

Can login through Chrome but can’t login through the app , totally garbage

### 1/5 — Clunky

*2023-03-07*

No option to message nursery.
I keep getting emails saying a daily diary has been updated but when I log on there is no daily diary to view.
Previously used famly app which was much easier to view as had a daily diary format that was filled in which then could be shown in a graph to track patterns / progress.

**Developer response:** Hi there, We have a new version of the app which we think addresses all of these issues - we hope you'll give it a try!

### 1/5 — Useless now

*2022-03-22, version 0.4.12*

Stopped working alltogether a couple of weeks ago. Despite using the correct login credentials I keep getting a ‘Fetch Username Api Error’. Developers really need to come up with an update to fix this bug.

### 1/5 — No longer working

*2021-10-12*

Suddenly stopped working a week ago- tells me my login details are incorrect and then crashes. The login details are fine from the desktop link so it’s obviously the app. Possibly after the Apple update lately but either way it doesn’t work and it’s really annoying.

### 1/5 — Crashes constantly

*2021-08-18, version 0.4.10*

This app is terrible it crashes before I can even complete login. I tried deleting so I could re-enter my details and still doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Error - daily journals

*2020-09-23, version 0.4.10*

I keep getting an error when trying to enter the daily journals and it doesn’t let you come out of it. Very frustrating as have to delete the app and reinstall to get access to everything else.

### 1/5 — Only half the story

*2019-11-02, version 0.3.1*

Can’t see what my children have eaten or how much they have slept. I still have to log on to the website for half the info. Rubbish

### 2/5 — Great concept but poor user experience

*2023-09-19*

The ability to get updates on activities at school and nursery, and see photos of what they are doing is really great. It really helps us talk to the kids about what they’ve been doing.
Sadly scrolling through photos is it’s painful in that photos are cut off or can’t be scrolled, or missed when scrolling.
Also the lack of ability to use the app for children in different schools is a major miss in the features. Many families must have a mix of children in nursery and primary school. Using different apps on different devices as a work around is just a faff.
If the usability / accessibility of images could be addressed and the ability to switch schools was there then this would be a really great app. Unfortunately without it it’s just a great idea.

**Developer response:** Hi there,

We have a new version of the app which we think addresses all of these issues - we hope you'll give it a try!

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Handy App

*2025-03-31*

I really enjoy checking this app regularly to see what my son has been up to at school. Quick and easy to use!

### 5/5 — Perfect way to see my child’s learning

*2025-02-17*

This app is so much better and easy to use!

### 5/5 — Make one for staff please

*2021-10-19*

Really would be helpful if you could

### 5/5 — Amazing app - Great way to get involved in my child’s learning

*2020-04-26*

This app is great! I wish the school had been using it more before the lockdown. It’s a great way to see how my daughter is getting on and add to her learning!

### 5/5 — A very welcome app

*2019-11-06*

I see it says there are more features to be added and it will be great when I can upload my own photos and see daily diaries but even as it is it’s much easier than logging into the website every time.

**Developer response:** Hi there,

Thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Since you left this review we've added a couple of new features (Daily Diaries and Photo Gallery) and plan to continue to add new features and refine those that are already in place.

Kind regards,

Learning Journals

### 5/5 — Fantastic App!

*2019-11-05*

My child attends a nursery which fortunately has the learning journals. I have always loved looking at the photos of him at nursery and reading about what he has been up to and Learning Journals has been such an easy, fun way to do that. A more fun feedback from the formal daily report provided by the nursery. It’s great to have a record of all his photos from nursery over the past4 years and he loves when we look back at photos of him at nursery as a baby. The new app is great and much easier accessible than the desk top version.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2019-10-31*

Great app and very easy to use! Very handy to keep track of my child’s development at the touch of a button!

### 4/5 — Can’t log in (UPDATE) Again

*2019-11-28*

Update Again!
I managed to get in touch with the developer. They were unaware the email address wasn’t working so now that they are, have reached out. The issue with not being able to see what I type is related to me running with dark mode enabled and has not been implemented by the dev team. They are now aware of this and working towards a fix. Switching to normal mode allows me to see the details as I type them.

Not being able to log in however was an issue of my own making so I have to hold my hands up there. I assumed that my login was my email. However it’s not. Thank you to David who reached out from the dev team and helped me out. Really great customer service.

UPDATE
I tried to contact the developer via the link in the app info and got the email bounced back with a failure notice. Far from ideal as if that’s not working the chances of them seeing app reviews and acting on it are slim to none.

When trying to type my log in details, the cursor moves but nothing seems to input on the screen. Same for password and pin. When I hit submit (or log in) I get a warning saying this is for parents only and I get no further. To top things off, when I now try to log in through the website, the pop up alerting me about the app has no option to close it and I can’t access the learning journal there either.

**Developer response:** Hi there, thank you for reporting this.

It would be great to find out more about your contact and reporting issue but if you can also contact us at info@learningjournals.co.uk we will try and assist with your login problems and get you up and running as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Learning Journals

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2024-06-06*

This app has alot of potential, could be better, have one kid at school whose it and one at nursery so can’t view both or just causes havoc

**Developer response:** Hi there,

With the new version of our app you can see all your children in one place.

### 3/5 — Functional (once you log in)

*2023-01-25, version 0.4.12*

So iOS doesn’t recognise you have to fill in a username and password when you first use the app. And everytime you need to log in thereafter….

So, you either stay logged in (not very secure) or have to use a password that isn’t stored on the phone (inconvenient to say the least).

Having the above bug is rather unforgivable if I’m honest- the equivalent of leaving out the majority of iOS users- but once in its all fine, but not that refined. But again, totally functional.
