## What is Leben?

Leben helps you prepare for the "Leben in Deutschland" test and the German citizenship test (Einbürgerungstest) — calmly, step by step.

WHAT YOU GET
• All 310 questions of the official BAMF catalog: 300 general questions and 10 for your federal state
• A mock exam like the real one: 33 questions, 60 minutes, 17 correct answers to pass, and a full review at the end
• A daily plan based on your exam date and a focused plan when the exam is tomorrow
• Explanations for every answer and a vocabulary of key German words with pronunciation
• Smart review: mistakes, bookmarks and uncertain questions first
• Readiness score, learning streak and progress by topic
• Widgets for your daily goal and a question of the day
• Spaced repetition: each question comes back when it's time to review it
• German read-aloud, daily and exam reminders, a Live Activity with the exam timer, Siri and Shortcuts

YOUR LANGUAGE
The questions stay in German, just like in the exam. The interface is available in 17 languages, including Ukrainian, Turkish, Arabic, Persian, Dari, Polish, Romanian and Kurdish. Translations of questions and explanations are machine-generated and can be shown next to the German original.

YOUR PROGRESS
Use the app as a guest or sign in with Apple or Google to sync your progress between iPhone and iPad. You can reset your progress or delete your account at any time.

Leben is an independent learning app. It is not an official product of BAMF or any other public authority and does not replace official materials.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 2.0 — 2026-09-28

Leben 2.0 is our biggest update yet.

• Clearer structure: Today, Practice, Exam, Vocabulary and Profile. Mistakes and bookmarks are now filters in Practice.
• Spaced repetition: questions come back when it's time to review them.
• The mock exam follows the real test: 30 general questions plus 3 for your federal state, and the timer keeps running in the background.
• Live Activity: the exam countdown on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
• German read-aloud for questions and answers.
• Reminders: daily at a time you choose and before your exam date.
• Siri and Shortcuts, Control Center buttons and new Lock Screen widgets.
• Share your mock exam result.
• New sync: progress syncs reliably between iPhone and iPad and also works offline. The full catalog is available without internet.
• 17 interface languages, right-to-left layout for Arabic, Persian and Dari, support for larger text and VoiceOver.
• Many fixes: images in every mode, learning streak, daily lesson.
