Works best with an Enhanced or Premium voice. - The voice picker now shows each voice's quality (Compact, Enhanced, Premium) and lists the best first, so you can tell the three Monicas apart. - Clear directions for installing Apple's free Enhanced and Premium Spanish voices. ### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-28 A calmer, clearer reader. - Definitions open in one fixed spot and stay put. Tapping outside closes them without turning the page. - Dictionary meanings are chosen more carefully, and the page no longer marks every new word, only the ones you are learning. - Narration is paced by pauses between words and sentences at a natural speed, with four paces to choose from, and the spoken word is highlighted as you listen. - VoiceOver can now look up any word on the page. - Shorter onboarding, a clearer paywall that shows your five free classics, and dozens of layout and readability fixes across Words, Progress, Learn and Settings. - Fixes: reopening a book at a saved spot no longer shows a blank page, and swiping past a chapter lands on its first page. ### 1.2.3 — 2026-08-25 Import a shelf at a time, plus a purchase fix. • Import several books at once. Select multiple EPUBs in the file picker, or drag a whole group onto your library. A file that won't open no longer stops the rest of the batch. • Fixed books appearing locked after an update even though your purchase was active. Restoring purchases is no longer needed to unlock them. • Translated two phrases that were still appearing in English. ### 1.2.2 — 2026-08-22 Tap a word and you get the word, not a paragraph about it. A definition was overwriting the translation a second after it appeared; now the dictionary answer wins and stays put. Reader fixes: the last word on a page responds to a tap again, swiping back from the first page of a chapter takes you to the end of the previous one, and the toolbar no longer cuts its own labels in half. Highlighting in the reader is much lighter, so a page reads as a page rather than a redacted document. The progress numbers are honest now. Reading time no longer counts hours the app spent sitting open, words read no longer counts pages you skipped past, and words known includes the ones you marked by reading past them. Also: duplicate copies of the same book get cleaned up, and importing a file you already have is refused instead of quietly adding it twice. ### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-17 Fixes a layout bug in 1.2 that could push the reader's toolbar buttons off-screen on iPhone. Also makes the app faster: quicker launches, smoother page turns and library scrolling, and lower memory use while reading long books. If 1.2 left you stuck in the reader, this update frees you.
