### 5/5 — Get answers

### 5/5 — Wow 🤩

*2022-10-26, version 3.2*

Great resource for legal terminology

### 5/5 — California attorney/new to app but great so far!

*2022-08-17*

Quite frankly, I felt a little strange leaving a review so quick right after using the app for only a while. However, from what I’ve seen so far the app is amazing for the price.

Let me be honest. I have been in practice for quite some time now and have collected many hard copy and iPhone legal dictionary apps since my first case. This one seems fabulous for the price.

I have always used Black’s law dictionary but I think that is going to change. Blacks law dictionary seems to use their old reputation as justification for charging $50 for an app in which this one does everything it does for $49 less ($.99 for ad free for free with ads).

Sounds too good to be true doesn’t it? Well, while downloading I thought so too. When I saw this was a free app I figured it was going to be some poorly programmed App that would eventually be deleted from my device. I was very wrong.

I intend to use this app more than any of my other legal dictionary apps. Thanks to the developers for making such an amazing App for such a low price. Best of luck to you!

### 5/5 — It’ a dictionary and not a mess of games and quizzes

*2022-07-15*

When I want a fictional I want one that is strictly business. Not one littered with a bunch of trivia, games, and ‘challenges’. I’ve been through more than one dictionary site and this one is uncluttered and to the point. I kept this one and it’s been a pleasure to use.

### 5/5 — Very helpful

*2022-05-28*

I’m currently in school for criminal Justice getting ready for law school and this is my holy grail. I use this anytime I don’t fully understand something. Sometimes I even use this to quiz myself before a test to make sure I know everything there is to know about the topic or word.

### 5/5 — I love it

*2022-05-10, version 3.2*

There’s nothing else to say, I’m satisfied

### 5/5 — Good

*2021-07-11*

App is fast and accurate

### 5/5 — Nicee

*2020-11-19*

Thank u for creating this app!!

### 5/5 — Useful App for Quick References

*2020-11-18*

I’m an assistant prosecutor and I downloaded this app to replace carrying around my Pocket Black’s Law Dictionary for quick references for certain terms. I’ve not had it for too long, so I’m not speaking from an extensive use of this app, but so far, it has been extremely useful to be able to open the app while in the middle of a hearing and be able to advise the judge of the specific definition of any number of terms or phrases without having to fumble around with a hard copy legal dictionary.

So far so good!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2020-11-08, version 2.1*

I would love to see some of the same activities here on this app like it is with regular dictionary, word of the day for example and others.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2020-10-17, version 2.1*

Some words cannot be found in the app however overall it’s a great app . Very helpful

### 5/5 — Great

*2020-09-25, version 2.1*

Absolutely great

### 4/5 — Good legal term dictionary

*2020-08-17*

There’s not much to the app but collecting the definitions of terms and putting it in one place..
but, it does what it needs to.
Be careful with spelling, there’s no spellcheck, so you won’t find the definition of you but it’s the spelling

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Legal terms are inaccurate

*2023-06-28, version 3.5*

Doesn’t provide legal definitions for legal terms.

### 1/5 — Too bad

*2022-10-25*

Many legal words are not included
There is a lot of ad
Only basic word

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2021-09-01*

Biochemical is not able to be searched c’mon this is rubbish 😂

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2021-04-27, version 3.2*

I would call this app legalese from the far left world. The definition of citizen of the U.S. is ‘white’ race only, as in the constitution. Garbage

### 1/5 — Automatically copies from your clipboard

*2020-10-01*

Every time I open this app I see a notification that it automatically copied everything from my clipboard without my consent. I don’t know why they would need this information (which may include passwords, confidential material, or other personal information. But my review will stay at one star until fixed.

**Developer response:** Thank you for letting us know. We are investigating this issue.

### 1/5 — Racist

*2020-06-06, version 2.1*

This needs updating - lookup citizen and look at #3. This is disgraceful that it would even appear on the app.

### 1/5 — Worst app

*2019-03-12*

They don’t have meaning of all things in this dictionary and irritating adds

### 1/5 — 打开什么都没有

*2016-07-02*

打开软件一片空白，什么信息都没有。

### 2/5 — This statement is very manipulative

*2022-02-05*

All downloads on TheFreeDictionary.com are Spyware free. All the software you download from our website does what it is supposed to do and nothing else.

In this statement of their website they use the word spy wear to mislead the average Joe into thinking that they do not collect any data for tracking purposes and sale for third parties but in fact they do all that and they tell you in the privacy policy that no one reads hence their play on words to infer the meaning to the ignorant. Its just sneaky

### 2/5 — Visually impaired left out

*2021-05-06*

On iOS 14.5.1, the app does not work with VoiceOver . Visually impaired persons their for, have no efficacious access to this app. It should be able to interact with VoiceOver and one should be able to adjust the font size which is exceedingly tiny for those with a little bit of vision. This app is useless to those who are legally blind or blind and rely on accessibility features. PLEASE FIX YESTERDAY!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback about Voice Over. Please know that you can adjust the font size in the app's Menu (the icon of three lines in the top right corner of the app) > "Font size." Moving the slider to the right will increase the font size in the app.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-11-23*

This app is excellent for quick reference when you don’t have a dictionary handy. I also like the fact that they sometimes reference 2-3 dictionaries. Although the only downside is it does not have any definitions from Black’s Law.

### 5/5 — As a lawyer I’m finding the app to be very beneficial!

### 5/5 — Incredibly helpful

*2023-11-22*

My common law and I are currently dealing with a massive problem and without having to pay a lawyer for advice I can just look anything up I need to and it all connects to additional information that is pertinent to the searched phrase/current content and allows you to go Back to the ones you just clicked out of . Pretty nifty apppppp
