I just downloaded the app today, and here is what I’ve noticed so far. So when I opened the app it said that it would stop updating after January, 2024. The app still works and you can’t really notice any difference. When I downloaded it on one iPad, the sound was not working on the app but was working on other apps. This is super frustrating! Please fix this. I tried it on another device and luckily it worked. So the app was actually really good! It requires a special set from Lego in the Vidiyo edition, but I already had it. The setup was really easy. You just have to scan your character and stage, and you’re all set. The controls are easy to use, but the song options are limited. There are only a few songs, which is a little disappointing. Otherwise everything else was okay. I really like this app because it has cool features and you can see other people’s videos. The only other thing was that you need to have a Lego account to share, comment/heart, and save videos. This was kinda annoying. This app is also made for kids, and is kid appropriate. This app has no rude comments or anything like that. This is a cool experience to try! Something that I really like about this app is that there are no ads and no “premium” things that make you have to pay! I rate this four stars because it is a really good app, but just needs a few minor fixes. But where did all the songs go? I heard that Lego is going to stop the VIDIYO products and app, but don’t listen to me until you double check that. The app used to be awesome. What would help is if Lego added a feature to the app where you could upload your own music instead of them having to constantly add new songs. I would definitely recommend this to other people. The only things that I don’t like is that you have to buy the characters for the app and these characters are kinda expensive. If they were a little bit cheaper I would definitely put 5 stars. Also, I don’t like that the bandmates are a mystery, and you don’t know what you’re gonna get. But one thing I don’t really like is that it crashes. I was playing the game and it just kept automatically logging off until I went outside to play soccer. The next day, it finally worked!! But I was wrong… IT LOGGED ME OUT!, AGAIN!!!! So 2 days later I played and it worked! After a while you use all the songs and then the app gets boring. I recommend this app but it can get boring. Also the app needs a customer service option. I had almost every band ate and I had to rescan every single one because the app deleted all my progress if the developers even look at this review please look into this issue **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! However, the app is a little confusing to navigate. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to save the videos to my phone or send in text message. Maybe have it password protected so the kids can’t do it without permission? But I would like to be able to share their creations with the family member that got them the gift. **** To the developers. Your response didn’t address my comment. I do not want to share the videos to social media. Keeps glitching 2. It’s hard to scan my characters almost always telling me to rescan them 3. I wish you could like test the bit beats before recording so you know what’s going to happen when you press one instead of having no idea what they will do and getting a very random video at the end 4. I also understand that this is a new app and you are still working on new features. 😁- me(˵ ͡o ͜ʖ ͡o˵) Ps I have iPhone 6 and it says it works on my phone ### 3/5 — Awesome Idea, App Is Alright *2021-03-29, version 1.0.6* This is my 2nd time reviewing the app, and while the sets, videos, and sounds are great, the app is crashing much more than usual, and I can’t even start recording until I’m teleported to my Home Screen. Like I said, the app is great, it’s just the app actually functioning that has an issue. I will say that I love the new loading bar so you can actually see the progress, but the loading still takes a few minutes, but is manageable. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Good Idea *2022-08-22, version 1.1.8* When I first heard about this app, I thought, “Wow! That is such an amazing idea! I can’t wait to get the app!” But the app spends too much time loading, and it is extremely hard to move around the app. Plus, the app took up over half of my IPad storage space, so I had to eventually delete it. Another thing is that there are loopholes. My little brother and I realized that if you search up a picture of one of the minifigures on the stand with beatbits, it would think that you had the set. So yeah. You guys had a good idea, you just could have made it work a little bit better. ### 1/5 — Whelp what can you say….. *2021-06-07, version 1.1.0* Brought this for my daughter. Who was really excited to have this. Twice she tried to record a video. After that part was done everything on the screen disappeared. All she was left with was her band mate just standing there. We pressed all over the screen, and restarted the app. Same thing happen plus we’re having to start the process all over again. She is basically still trying to make the first video. I may try a third time to see if a different outcome happens. But it’s VERY unlikely that I’ll give it a fourth try if it still isn’t working. ### 1/5 — Crash and burn *2021-04-01, version 1.0.6* I’ll put this out there first: I love the minifigures and I love the idea behind this app, but goodness is it frustrating. Running the app burns through your battery life in a matter of moments. If you’re lucky, you’ll get past the loading screen to scan your figure and the tiles. If you’re even luckier, you’ll actually be able to record a video—I haven’t been able to in days. The app crashes and closes before we ever get to record anything, and my son’s disappointment has resulted in him not even bothering with it anymore. At 20 bucks per DJ set and 5 bucks per blind box, the app’s performance is pretty awful. Atrocious execution. *2021-03-21, version 1.0.5* Four out of five times, the app hangs or crashes. If you’re lucky that everything works, getting through the insane amount of choices or load screens, including the redundant warnings, takes 7–10 minutes, at which time kids have invariably moved on to doing something else. Talk about knowing your audience! When you get to finding a location, more often than not the app won’t be able to place the bandmate. If this happens, there’s no back button or a way to reload. Seven minutes in, you’ll just have to quit, reopen and go through the whole process again. Mind you, it doesn’t even save the kid’s age at the very beginning, so I do mean the whole process. If all stars align, you happen to be of the correct zodiac sign and it’s your lucky day, you finally get to shoot a video an hour into this frustrating process, and you’re gloriously treated to... nothing. It turns out to be a regular video of the kids dancing. You click buttons, but the bandmate never shows up. No effects whatsoever. We downloaded the app on two separate devices, an ipad and iPhone. We have the same issue on both devices: when my son tries to make a video the app wont load and he gets a “please wait” message forever. We have yet to have it load so he can use the app and new VIDIYO sets we purchased. My son is distraught that he spent his birthday money on VIDIYO lego sets he can’t use. PS - we have confirmed our devices are compatible at the link provided in other reviews. It’s not a compatibility issue and based on other reviews, looks like the app has issues. Very disappointing. Every time we try to log in, we get a message, Logging In, which just keeps going and going and doesn’t log us in. We have to end the program and start all over again, and the same thing happens. We are using this on an Apple iPad which is up to date with the iOS, similarly on an iPhone which has the latest iOS installed. I see lots of other comments about glitches with this app. Suggestions? ### 1/5 — So disappointing. Stay away! *2021-03-03, version 1.0.1* Loads of “please wait” and other loading screens even after downloading over 300MB of “required” files. Was able to get it working for a day - even made two pretty good videos! On that success we spent $20 for a new scannable band member. After scanning it in we now only get “please wait” screens when trying to start a performance. We’ve gone through deleting and the lengthy reinstall process but now I cannot even log into my account. This app feels really unfinished and my kids are super disappointed. Surprising after using some of Lego’s other apps like Hidden Side and Builder’s Journey. ### 2/5 — Disappointed *2022-01-01, version 1.1.7* I purchased one of these sets for each of my 3 kids because I was told at a Lego store they would be compatible with any handheld device. Specifically asking if they would work with kids fire 7’s that is not the case I find out now. So frustrating one more thing my kids will need my phone to access. Disappointed I wouldn’t have purchased them had I known- should have done my own research. ### 2/5 — Concept is cool but unable to share on social media *2021-06-02, version 1.1.0* You can make really cool videos and yeah it’s fun and you can play with your little character but you can’t share the video unless it’s to the Lego community which there aren’t that many people in the local community so I gave it a two stars until they allow you to share it on other social platforms which is really really stupid of them not to do this because more people would be buying it if they could Scherret! ### 2/5 — Doesn’t work *2021-05-04, version 1.0.9* I got the app, thinking it would be fun... but I was wrong. After I put in my age, I select the free band mate, as I don’t own any of the sets. So after I pick out a band mate, bring her to life, and choose a band name, it ask me to find a place for her. So it takes me about 20 minutes to find where she is in the AR, then it just says try again, no matter what I try. It’s a great concept, and maybe I might try it again someday, but it doesn’t work for me, so there is no point in keeping the app right now. After that one update last year ( think it was after Halloween or Christmas, one of those,), I lost all my stuff. My outfits, beatbits, bands, etc. were all gone! Somehow my gallery had all the videos though. After scanning the boombox, all the Series one minifigs, nearly all the S1 beatbits, and a half-dozen beat-boxes, I am not really motivated to scan them all again. ( still really love the sets) please fix this issue! I know there might not be much to do about it, and I don’t have a Lego life account to log back into. There is another glitch where it always asks my date of birth, as if it were making me redo the tutorial. Lego VIDIYO is still a definite keeper, and I hope they release the S2 figures in our region and stop discontinuing the already released ones. It is fun because there is a kid safe posting site where you can comment and post your videos. You can also make videos with you in them and the effects are so cool.
