Looking up a word that takes 5 seconds may require you to watch a 30 second ad first. They also don't improve the search on the app to bring it to the same level of the web-based version. I love how you get results for the dictionary and forum at the same time. Documentation can exist without making harmful terms discoverable as usable translations. Man muss auf Übersetzung ca. 10-20 Sekunden warten. But today they blocked the result with a very long advertisement Video, robbing me of my precious mobile data volume and time. So today I deleted this app. Will use build in translation apps or translation from google. How greedy and stupid can one company become... ### 3/5 — Hero to Zero! *2025-11-13* Oh my goodness, I've been using Leo to help learn German for several years and it's my failsafe when a word is too complicated or "German" for my excellent Collins dictionary. I updated the App today and I am SO disappointed. It's less clear, really clunky to use and just a number of really poor alterations. Have the Leo techs not heard the expression "if it ain't broke..."?!!! ### 1/5 — iPad and iPhone experience poor *2025-10-25* I’ve been using the IOS apps for 3 weeks. There are some unintuitive aspects to the Apps which are not explained. It appears impossible to add recently saved words to a ‘wordlist’ without using the browser version. In fact the whole handling of word lists and folders is opaque. When one selects words from ‘My Words’ the only option is to delete the entry. There is no option to move it to a created word list. Further the ‘documentation’ available does not explain how boxes work but it becomes evident as you practise. Attempts to engage the forums result in ‘no server connection’. Ce serait bien de mettre une possibilité Français - Espagnol (puisqu’il y a anglais russe par exemple). ### 3/5 — so so la la *2025-08-29* Если использовать только как словарь, то норм, но войти в учетную запись, которая создана с компа, не дает, постоянно пишет, что неверный пароль, сменить пароль также не получается, постоянно какие-то ошибки ### 2/5 — Fallen out of love with Leo *2025-08-01* This used to be a go-to website and app for me, but I’ve grown weary of the opportunistic subscription corner it backs you into with a relentless pop-up threat of ads and tracking. Every single time I open the app, and within use a single of it, I am hit with what feel like little shameful penalties for not allowing a developer to capitalize on what used to be free and certainly has not been improved since it was free. I’ve since learned to use other resources that function just as well that are still free of cost and visual noise, and I no longer recommend Leo as readily to my students and other language learners. I see many others share my sentiments. It’s a shame. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Ad infested. *2026-06-26* LEO was the “go to” German dictionary, but recent updates have made the app frequently unresponsive and laden will full screen, unskippable ads. ### 1/5 — Not usable anymore *2026-06-19, version 9.1.4* I’ve used it for years and was fine with the addition of ads, but they’ve reached a point where the app is no longer practical to use properly. Unfortunately the latest version doesn’t work any more with these devices. So I uninstalled it. Shame! Why do you play these ad videos? I have to stop using the app now since auto-video-ads are extremely annoying, shady and cause me to forget what word to look up. Thanks that you do not care about your customers! ### 1/5 — Loss of functionality *2026-05-07, version 9.1.4* The spinner mostly just spins and spins without returning a result. The full page ads when it does work are simply too annoying. Maybe the spinner that keeps spinning is the app trying to load an ad that loads too slowly? ### 1/5 — They ruined if *2026-05-03* I used the website for years and then the app. Loved it. Recommended it to everyone. Used it countless times per day for multiple languages, though mostly German-English. I have sadly just deleted it. This app is just an ad blaster now. It is not usable. I cannot look up a word without a video ad that I cannot close out taking over my screen. The noise and intrusion is unforgivable. Some ads here and there would be understandable but this has simply voided all functionality. I give up. I will not go back to using the site in my browser either. I will just turn entirely to another tool. Sorely let down after many years of praising and relying on Leo. По сути, это удобный справочник с возможностью запоминать выбранные слова в тренажёре. Есть лишь одна просьба: очень не хватает функции добавления собственных комментариев или примеров использования слова прямо в карточках тренажёра. Сейчас мне приходится постоянно переключаться между вашим приложением и чатом GPT, чтобы подобрать подходящие варианты употребления слова. Такие примеры помогают мне гораздо быстрее запоминать новые слова. Было бы замечательно, если бы в сохранённые карточки можно было самостоятельно добавлять свои комментарии — например, скопированный пример из GPT — и видеть его сразу после переворота карточки. Der Trainer war ziemlich umständlich und hakelig, da gab es deutlich bessere Apps. Mit der neuen Version hat sich das völlig verändert, ich benutze Leo jetzt täglich um mein Spanisch zu verbessern und finde ständig neue Wörter und Phrasen die ich in meiner selbst aufgebauten Struktur hinterlegen und üben kann. Ich nutze nur diese für mein fließendes Italienisch und Englisch sowie das gestotterte Spanisch und meine 3 Worte Französisch. Ich habe nur die kostenlose Version drauf, würde auf jeden Fall aber auch die kostenpflichtige nehmen, wenn sie deutlich mehr - z. B.
