It's a bit laggy on iOS 9 but continues to be one of my very favorite apps. I have been trying to find a way to merge letterpress with iPad, and this brilliant. I've spent many a happy hour playing with text - just like when I was a child with a rubber printing kit or back at art college rolling the printing press. Except this is MUCH easier and far less messy. The sound effects really suit the whole feel of this too. It's a great contrast between the old and the new doing this on an iPad. Bravo developers. Yes - if you don't alter the size of text before you start laying it, getting it all the same size with fingers is too fiddly to be precise. I'd like to see a quick way to clear the composing area. I save an empty tray to load - am I missing an easier way? I'd also like to see more fonts and pictures. Maybe an option to purchase various extra sets? But my quibbles are minor. This is one of my favourite apps for creating graphics. Thanks 💖 ### 5/5 — Genius! *2012-10-29, version 1.4.1* Yes it's a little clunky, but this is a truly creative app. With a little practice, astonishing results can be had. If you've been desktop designing since you left art college, then get back to basics with this. Takes a little while to get used to but once you do you will enjoy this. Use this app with the sound turned up and you'll feel like your in your own printing shop. Have always enjoyed using letters and numbers for arts sake. This is the sort of thing I imagined having an iPad for. Congratulations for such a great app. ### 3/5 — Good but... *2012-09-05, version 1.4.1* This is a difficult app to rate as it has the potential to produce some really great results but is quite clumsy and awkward to use. Resizing the letters is particularly difficult, can't get them bigger and then there is no option to resize all the text in a line to the same size. Has a bit of a learning curve, but you can get quite creative with it given some time and patience. Can be a little challenging to be very precise - wish there was an easy way to lock elements securely. Not a single update has loaded, it won't work at all and I want a refund. The type may be lovely, but the code behind it is appalling. I wish I could be more positive, but avoid spending your money on this App! But, try as I might, this just doesn't work. I've adjusted the resolution within the app and deleted a truckfull of photos, but I can't save my work. Frustating. ### 2/5 — Fun for a moment *2013-08-29, version 1.4.1* I bought this app mistakenly thinKing it could be used for making labels or signs.It is fun for a moment but It is rather labor intensive and after playing with it contentedly for about an hour to learn it and print one sign I suspect I will not use it again. I was blown away at first but now I'm frustrated by its pieces jumping into places knocking previously set type out of place. To say it is not fun would be better wording. Moving and finding anything is very awkward. The font and design choices are extremely limited. At this point this app is definitely not worth the price. Has great potential, but for now it is lacking in options and maneuvering is difficult at best. ### 3/5 — A great IDEA for an app... *2013-08-08* But in practice, it's extremely difficult to work with -- the teeny little litters do not respond well to my fat fingers, I guess. UI needs work -- and as another reviewer pointed out, resolution on the finished graphics is way WAY to low to be useable. Not practical at all. Disappointed, because it really IS a killer idea for an app, but needs too much work. ### 3/5 — It's something different *2012-10-25* Pros: it's unique. The type selection is decent. The simulation is fun. Nice sound effects. Cons: it's just a simulation. You're not going to produce usable art with this. The UI is a bit clunky and inconsistent. Bottom line: This app is worth it if you have any interest in wood type printing. When I saw this one was a more vintage version, I thought I had dies and fine to Heaven. I have several card design programs but could never find one that gave me the old vintage look. Ok it's a little slow and can be awkward to use but typesetting used to be an art and be labour intensive! If anyone thinks that all apps should require minimum effort then I'm afraid that they're missing the point with this one.
