## What is Letters to Isabel?

Welcome to Letters to Isabel– a pediatric cancer community, but we call it a Club! Letters to Isabel (LTI) is a free, personalized pen pal network for kids battling pediatric cancer and their families fighting alongside them. We connect pediatric cancer fighters, survivors, and guardians based on age, diagnosis, location, and shared interests to build meaningful friendships. There are many kids fighting cancer just like you. With our help, finding a friend is easy!

At Letters to Isabel, our goal is to give each child battling cancer a pen pal to connect with, learn from, and communicate with during treatment. Through the joy of exchanging letters with pen pals and the comfort of building lasting friendships, we strive to be a source of hope, kindness, and support for all those navigating childhood cancer.

What can you expect on our platform and after you join our Club?

Sign up and create a free account on the Letters to Isabel app. Our fun quiz will ask questions about you or your child’s cancer diagnosis, hobbies, and connection goals. Our system will connect you with the right friend based on your age, gender, diagnosis, location, and matching preference. Whether you are looking for a singular connection or multiple pen pals, we will build your childhood cancer network based on what matters most to you.

Once matched, share your story with your new pen pal as you crush cancer together. We make it easy for you to communicate online by sending direct messages to your pen pal with the chat feature on our app. To bring your pen pal journey to life, all Club members receive a connection kit, known as a Boombox. Once it arrives by mail, explore your kit and bring joy to your pen pal by sending letters, pictures, crafts, and more!

What are our Club members saying?

“I was diagnosed with a brain tumor when I was ten years old. Nine years later, my most recent treatment was last summer. I discovered Letters to Isabel this year and was very happy to have the opportunity to connect with other survivors, especially by way of getting mail! I think that as an older survivor and technically, no longer a child, it is hard to find support for pediatric cancer patients who are now adults still needing help. Thank you for considering people who are in need of community, but who are no longer eligible for other support. It means a lot!” - Mia

“Learning your child has cancer is an overwhelming experience…you find yourself in uncharted space. I remember feeling lonely as a mom. I was aching for a community of fellow cancer fighters. Letters to Isabel was my entryway to exactly what I needed. I am so grateful to have found Letters to Isabel. It has been a necessary reminder that we are not alone in our journey, and that there are creative ways to connect with others.” - Sam
