## What is Lex.Games?

Lex.Games offers a slew of daily word games to enjoy: Conlextions, Lexicogs, Cryptograms, Write & Rung, Mini and Full-Size Crosswords, By A Vowel, Six Appeal, Letter Opener, Square Dance, and Mind Control.

Conlextions is a custom spin on the increasingly popular Connections puzzle format: You see a grid of sixteen terms, and need to identify four sets of four groups — watching out for words that might fall into more than one category!

Lexicogs offers crossword-style clues, and you assemble the answers from the "cogs" of words below. Solve all seven clues as fast as you can.

By A Vowel is a word jumble game: Five themed words, each missing one of the five vowels. Crack the theme to help improve your solve time.

Six Appeal is like Wordle meets Mastermind: You're solving a six-letter word, but your guesses don't all need to be real words — though they're worth more points if they are.

Cryptograms are letter cypher puzzles. Write & Rung is a word ladder building game.

Letter Opener gives you 90 seconds to form as many words as you can using the starting letters provided. Can you top the leaderboard? 

The daily Mini is a crossword puzzle — only smaller. How fast can you solve the clues? 

The full-size Crossword is — of course! — a full-size crossword. Woohoo!

Mind Control is a modern take on Mastermind — figure out the right order for the colorful pegs, using logic to determine the solution.

New puzzles each day, with individual leaderboards per game, along with a Lex.Games-wide leaderboard, too. Hear a fun jingle when you solve a puzzle. Enjoy the mellow background music, or disable all the sounds entirely.

Typos in word games are really annoying, and they’re common here. Today’s “way” for “why” is typical. Crossword clues frequently have the last letter truncated (is the clue “Sol” or “Solo”?). Whole games get repeated two consecutive days. There are frequent minor bugs - crosswords can’t decide whether they’re going to skip filled-in squares or overwrite them for example. All in all this feels like Lex is overextended and frantically rushing to complete the puzzles every day, making a bad experience for users.

Fun games. But the crossword is ridiculous: on an iPhone SE at least, the yellow highlight boxes and grid outlines are misaligned, the error checker highlighting is erroneous, long clues cannot be expanded, the completion checks on the Home Screen are mismatched with the crosswords (fine for other games), and the algorithm for advancing the cursor is unpredictable. Also: incessant prompts for a rating are vexing, especially when (clearly) I have rated it.

Great selection of games, fun to play, idiosyncratic and challenging. The only problem is the fantastically buggy crossword — it draws poorly on my (small, I know) SE, the completion checkmarks don’t line up with completed crosswords reliably (only game that has that issue), a couple days ago it just wasn’t there, and today I had it right, but it claimed I was wrong. I revealed the words that were marked wrong and it wrote exactly what I had, but in lower case. 🤦‍♂️

the new mini crossword looks awful! what was wrong with its old appearance? now it looks cheap! it’s harder to read the clues, and the animations are sluggish! put it back how it was before, please!

**Developer response:** I’m using Apple’s built-in functionality for developers to request ratings. One star ratings when you enjoy the app are… rough. I’m sorry the requests bothered you, but Apple actually determines how often you see them.

The games are fun. However I purchased the subscription and had to uninstall for an issue with my phone. I cannot get the app to recognize my username and it does not restore my purchase so I cannot use the paid functions. I tried to reach out to the developer via email with no response. I took off 3 stars because of this problem.

A release chock full of bug fixes and improvements. 

These include better handling of smaller screens, especially when you use a larger font size. 

Also some fixes for a little weirdness with crosswords, which weren't always showing the day's newest crossword.

I just made Sunday full-size crosswords available to everyone. But I introduced a bug with showing played crosswords as... played. This release fixes that! Don't be cross with crosswords!

The daily Mini crosswords have always been available to everyone, but to date, full-size crosswords were limited to paying Lex.Games subscribers. Full-size crosswords are a lot of work, so I'd like more people to experience them.

The last release improved crosswords. Except when I said that puzzles worked better with iPad keyboards, in fact... they didn't. Now — they really do! Honest!

Lex.Games loves you. I mean, it’s an app, so you’d think it has no feelings, but honestly, you’d be wrong. Lex.Games, much like me — Lex Friedman, the guy who MAKES Lex.Games — loves you.

And it’s because of that love that this release includes a slew of improvements and fixes. 

Among them: Some polish to Mini and full-size Crosswords, making clues easier to read, and improving keyboard navigation if you use an external keyboard while you’re solving. Hooray!

Also included: Fixes for some occasional puzzle numbering weirdness with Lexicogs. Math is hard.
