## What is Lexirise?

Stay in the story. Learn the words along the way.

Learn Chinese, Japanese, Korean and more from comics, podcasts, captioned YouTube videos, books, and your own uploads. Tap a word for its reading and meaning. Save it with the sentence it came from. Review it later, without building flashcards by hand.

Real content can be hard at first. But you don't have to know every word to start enjoying it. Lexirise puts help where you need it, so one unknown word doesn't end your reading session.

READ ANOTHER CHAPTER
Read manga, manhua, and webtoons with tappable text. See pinyin, furigana, and word meanings without switching to a dictionary. Bring your own books, PDFs, comics, text, and audio too.

HEAR THE WORDS YOU'RE READING
Follow podcasts with interactive transcripts. Tap a word as you hear it, check the meaning, and keep listening. Watch captioned YouTube videos with word lookup in the app.

SAVE THE WORD, NOT JUST THE TRANSLATION
Keep useful words with their source sentence, reading, and audio. Sort them into decks and tags, or export them to Anki. Your collection comes from things you chose to read and hear.

REMEMBER WHAT YOU MEET
Short spaced-repetition reviews bring words back when they need practice. Use reading, typing, and listening modes, or build a study session from your own material.

TAKE IT INTO A CONVERSATION
Practice speaking with guided missions and feedback. Live Transcript helps you follow conversations and lessons, look up words, and return to saved transcripts.

KEEP GOING, WHEREVER YOU ARE
Download supported material and reviews for offline study. Track reading, listening, reviews, and streaks. Add a Study Today widget, join the weekly League, or study with friends in a Study Circle.

Your words and progress sync across iPhone, iPad, and the web. The included Safari extension adds lookup tools to supported websites.

Lexirise is for learners who want to spend more time with the language they love, not follow a fixed course of canned lessons.

Start free. Pick a comic or podcast, then tap the first word you don't know. Optional Pro plans unlock higher limits and advanced tools, including speaking practice and Live Transcript.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work very well, insists on translations

*2026-09-05*

The app insists on translating text when you tap on anything. If you want this to say, add pinyin to comics, it will give you a full translation every time you click on a speech bubble. It doesn’t accurately identify comics sites and will fail to work on them, making it no better than safari. Do not recommend. Not worth $15 a month

### 5/5 — Safari Mac

*2026-07-21*

I was looking for something while watching YouTube to help learn words on Mac, and this works so well! The UI is clean, pauses when hover over words, and says them out loud! My only request would be if you can add audio samples in a male voice too that would be amazing (for Korean)!

### 5/5 — A Mecca for Language Autodidacts!

*2026-03-02*

A Marvel of Modern Philology! Having explored many a Tool for the acquiſition of Knowledge, Lexiriſe stands alone as the Premier Repository for the Serious Scholar. Its Immersion capabilities are as Vaſt as the Orient, and the SRS Syſtem is more Precise than a Swiſs Chronometer. Whether one seeks to Conquer the Lexicon or simply enjoy a Comic in its Original Tongue, this App is the Indispenſable Companion. A Triumph of Code and Culture!"

### 1/5 — unfortunately not working on comics

*2026-02-21*

i tried using it on comics so i could practice learning that way but it not working

### 5/5 — This is exactly what I’ve been looking for

*2025-12-28*

I love reading webcomics and have been looking for a way to easily read in my target languages (Spanish & Korean). I have to admit it takes a bit to get it to work since it’s an extension and you have to make sure all the right permissions are enabled. But once you get it to work, it’s a game changer. No more switching back and forth between your webcomic and dictionary or screenshotting into other parsers. It even works on desktop and mobile for free! Though i would love if more websites can work via the universal parser feature (Not too many websites options for Spanish compared to Korean for example) and i REALLY recommend the developers to include Tapas in their lists. I haven’t tried all the features yet. But for immersing in webcomics, it’s great!

### 5/5 — absolutely amazing

*2025-05-06*

the free features are enough, join the discord to request features or more websites to be added. very good for immersion
