### 4/5 — Very Addictive !!

*2008-12-06*

Hands down the most played game on my iPhone! Personal high score of 1234. Would love the ability to spell words greater than 12 letters -- will give 5th star for this feature.

### 4/5 — Could be better

*2008-11-15*

Interesting game, would like to see more levels, a method of clearing all the letters from a row and maybe some form of timing. Overall a nice addition to my iPhone.

### 5/5 — I'm fast becoming obsessed by this game

*2008-11-03*

What started as an interesting word game is now fast becoming an obsession for me. The game's smooth interface belies the many layers of complex strategy that become increasingly compelling. Do I throw away a good combination of letters so that I can get an even better combination in the next move? Do I hang on to good combinations if I see a good move three moves ahead?

One other thing I liked: I upgraded from version 1.x to 2.0 and it didn't even interrupt my saved in-progress game. Even switching to a new iPhone didn't interrupt the game. Nice work!

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2008-10-30*

Fantastic game! Easy to learn, educational and addictive. By far this is my favorite iPod touch game, especially while waiting in line or on the john. You laugh now, but wait until you are on the pot with no newspaper and only your iPhone.

### 4/5 — Great word game - similar to SCR@BBLE....

*2008-10-21*

Nice little game this one, I agree with the comment below about extending the play levels, but it is challenging, educational and fun. Worth the pennies.

### 5/5 — Best iPhone word game

*2008-10-15*

This is an awesome game. It's my favorite so far and i've played for hours. I love that it saves your game whenever you close it so you can come back to it. I love the wooden tile detail. Nice UI. Also, I love being able to go into the high score area, see the words I used and tap on any word to see the word definition and details. It would be great to see a list like this for every game, not just the high scoring ones

As other reviewers said, the dictionary doesn't always accept real words.

Requests: at the end of the game, go directly to a screen that shows all your words and the points you got for them

Maybe a global score board so you can check your high scores against other players, or else a display of the highest possible score for the board you just played.

Thanks for the great game!

### 5/5 — Addicting

*2008-10-13*

I love this game! It would however be nice to know how the scoring works without having to do the math myself.

### 5/5 — Great looking, great playing

*2008-10-08*

Excellent implementation of a very fun word game. One of the nicest looking apps I've seen. And I loved how, when you look at the high scores, you can even see what words were used. My wife and I have become very competitive about this game. A real winner.

### 5/5 — Perfect game for word-lovers

*2008-10-08*

Had a much longer review praising this game, but it was erased cuz I put a nickname already used. Lame.

Summary: absolutely love it. Very addicting. Pull out and play anytime you have a few minutes. Elegant game design. Lots of strategy, but easy to play.

Get it now, while it's free. It's definitely worth a couple bucks.

### 4/5 — Great game, but needs a little polish.

*2008-10-07*

It's a great little game. You select any letters from the top row to form words, and the tiles underneath them move up. But I would like to see a little more animation, where we will actually see the letter you select move to the top and the tiles that were underneath it move up. I would also like to see the letters underneath a little better so I can plan my moves. It's a bit hard at the moment as they are greyed out.
Good otherwise though.

### 5/5 — What a unique game!! Lots of fun.

*2008-10-06*

The game is a lot of fun and becomes addictive very quickly. The first time I played I played all the way through...which is pretty rare for me. The game has hints of scrabble and solitaire which make it extremly easy to play. The goal of the game is to keep creating words until it tells you there are no more. Theoretically, you could also win by finishing all the tiles but that's a near impossibility. You beat the game by getting the highest score. The bigger the word, the more points you get. Enjoy!!!

### 1/5 — Help

*2009-04-29*

I have word up but ever since, it doesn't work anymore, when I go in menu and start a new game it just shuts down and when I go in the app. store it says that I already have word nerd installed. Please help ... I want to be able to play again.

### 1/5 — Keep Away! Crashes Constantly, No Support

*2009-01-12*

It's fun, when it works. Sometimes there are no words left, and yet the game doesn't end. That may not sound bad, except that you have no option to end the game, so you're stuck. If you click "start new game" the app crashes. Then, when you restart the app, it brings you back to the same game you stuck in before, and the whole process happens again!!!

In other words, once the game gets stuck there is no way to get out of it and start a new game, even if you completely close down the app. The only option is to uninstall and re-install the app, which I've done three times now. Next time, I'll be uninstallinf it for good.

To make things worse, I sent a report to the developers and they never responded.

It's apps like this, with unresponsive developers, that will harm the whole App Store concept.

Keep away from this buggy app!

### 2/5 — Wordly

*2010-08-26*

I enjoy playing this game but am a bit frustrated since I can no longer see my word list at the end of each game. Even when I played a game that was not top scoring, I used to be able to check the definitions. After a recent update this step has been removed. I hope that gets fixed

### 2/5 — I love it, but . . .

*2009-01-24*

I love it, but it has developed a glitch. Every time I tap the "new game" button, it ends the app and sends me back to my iphone home page. It worked for a little while, but now it's been doing what I described above for a month. I really enjoyed it too--better than most of the word games I've purchased.

### 3/5 — Found a Bug and no way to report it!

*2008-11-24*

I like the game and would have given it a higher rating, but I found a bug and no way to report it. The developer says he appreciates feedback--but he gives no way to contact him. When a second player tries to enter his name in the high scores, the keyboard comes up but does not take the information--the first player's name is still there and there is no way to put in the second player's name. BTW, the process for reporting a bug through iTunes is just to contact iTunes; they do not relay the information to the developer.

### 3/5 — Needs update and improvements

*2008-10-23*

It's a nice game but most of the time I have created words and the apply button is not active.as if this game doesn't recognize or has limited vocabulary.

### 3/5 — Fun game that needs more features.

*2008-09-21*

This is an enjoyable game, but it shouldn't end so quickly. If you get a high enough score, you should go on to another round, not just start a new game.

### 4/5 — Great game but Needs fixed

*2010-07-28*

Love the game but in the help screen it says if you end the game because you're stuck it will show the words you missed. For some reason mine doesn't show them. Would really like to have this show. Please fix!

### 4/5 — Great app, needs more words

*2010-02-02*

I wanted to give this app 5 stars but it refuses to recognize some words such as Toulouse and California and yet it will recognize Dan and Kat but not Katie and other proper nouns and places.

It is a very addicting app and I find myself spending (or should that be wasting!) hours playing it!

### 4/5 — Best word game.

*2008-12-31*

I like that it creates challenge without making you race againt the clock. It has an element of strategy like scrabble when you start planning ahead how to bring letters up from below to the top row to form good words. Would give it 5 stars of it were not so boring and blah aesthetically.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Fun

*2010-03-20*

Fun word game. It's rather like Scrabble solitaire. It's a good way to get your fix while waiting on your turns to arrive in Words With Friends. :) I agree with the previous comments that its dictionary has some curious ommissions and inclusions--it's certainly not the OSPD. I'd be interested in knowing its source dictionary. However, still a great way to spend a few minutes puzzling out words.

### 5/5 — Word Nerd Addict

*2009-09-30*

I've been playing this game ever since I got my iPhone in February. It's a great way to waste ten minutes. And you can't beat the support. I had a problem so I e-mailed the creator and heard back from him the next morning. Then I browsed through his web page and came to realize that he's some sort of genius who seems to have his choice of great jobs. So what're you waiting for, get Word Nerd to go along with your Scrabble and Word Jhong, and you can waste as much time as I do.

### 5/5 — All versions great - most recent version extraordinary

*2009-08-17*

I've been using this app for awhile now. It's been my favorite app (Word Warp is good for quick fixes, but it doesn't know a lot of words that are dictionary words). Word Nerd knows many many words. The latest update allowing some measure of what makes a good score is very rewarding (but also indicative of what's possible). It's fun, it's addictive, and because if involves strategy (which letters in what order - what's further down in that column, in the other columns) and luck - it's well done.

### 5/5 — Amazingly addictive

*2009-07-27*

This game is so addictive. It looks like a bore but I just can't stop myself. I keep going back to it every time I have a couple free minutes. Well worth the download.

### 5/5 — Great strategy game

*2009-03-10*

This is one of the best strategy games that I found on the Apps proogram. And it's free to boot. What a way to get you thinking of what to do two or three move in the future while expanding you vocbulary past the three or four letter word range.

### 5/5 — Very addictive

*2009-02-25*

I've been at this game almost non-stop. It's always testing and keeps you on your toes. A couple of things I'd like to see would be:
- a scoreboard for your best words, not just games. A score over 200 is worth keeping (if only for boasting rights)
- a chance to add words not in the dictionary (e.g. "daggy" may not be in American dictionaries, but it's commonly used here in Oz likewise "realise", not just "realize")
- maybe a blank tile or two for those double-zed words like "jazz" or "fuzzy".

Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — So addicting

*2008-12-28*

I love word games, and I love this game particularly because I love scrabble and ithis is the same tile numbering and scoring. It's easily my favorite game I bought.

### 5/5 — I'm Hooked

*2008-12-16*

This game is dangerously addictive. Got a competitive mind and hours to kill? Look no further.
Shame the name changed...I don't like to think of myself as a nerd. I leave that conclusion to others.
Great Graphics and smooth playing app. Well done Marc.

### 5/5 — Word up!

*2008-12-10*

WOW this game is sweet I can't belive I got it for free lucky me. Very very good game can't stop playing it. I have to go play it now LOL. Great job on this game.

### 5/5 — love it!

*2008-11-06*

I love this game, it is very easy to use and such a great concept! I'm addicted, great work!
