## What is lfoch?

lfoch is an experimental LFO generator that can create "chase"-like effect with multiple outputs from a single complex waveform

It features:
- 2 LFO generators with phase modulation / ring modulation:
- Each LFO generators contains 2 suboscillators; one suboscillator modulates phase of another
- For each suboscillator you can set waveform rate, waveform type (with smooth morph between sine, triangle, sawtooth and square waveforms), nonlinear curve (for overdrive-like effect) and minimum/maximum range
- The result waveform is a multiplication of two generated LFO waveforms
- You can use 1..16 points from this waveform to output as MIDI control change values
- You can toggle the "playback" (phase change) of each generator with I/II buttons
- You can randomise parameter values with "dice" buttons
- App has two modes for live usage
- 'perform' mode has larger waveform view and some selected sliders (if any)
- 'edit' mode contains all controls on one screen
- Each generator can be synchronized to tempo. In this mode the "speed" value runs from 4 quarter forward to 4 quarter backwards speed, the fastest value in this mode is 1/32
- When running inside AUv3 host the app uses host's transport.
- "free mode" setting allows you not to follow the host transport

lfoch is a standalone app and an AUv3 MIDI Effect.
AUv3 effect supports parameter automation and preset saving inside host.

Standalone version currently does not output MIDI in background mode.Note for AUM users:This application starts with 16 control change outputs from CC 0 to 15 on MIDI channel 1. AUM has default mapping of the CC #7 (volume) for each channel. Please keep this in mind when setting it up together.

## Key features

- Dual LFO generators with phase/ring modulation
- Suboscillator modulation with waveform morphing
- Adjustable waveform rate, type, and range
- Output 1-16 MIDI control change values
- Tempo synchronization and AUv3 MIDI Effect support
- Two modes: 'perform' and 'edit'
- Randomize parameter values

### 5/5 — Lfo lfos Lfo

*2024-06-14*

I use it mostly in Apematrix and get the knobs dancing, very nice laboratory for very experimental sounds!

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work on iOS 15

*2023-05-17*

Blablabla

### 5/5 — Mad Hat LFOH

*2023-04-15*

Trippy idea that can be used in many ways. I love using it with drum synths, and strange sound effects. Is easy to route through AUM as well. Enjoyable interface, cool concept.

### 3/5 — unfortunately still with a crucial bug

*2023-02-08*

when i connect the app to an instrument or an effect in aum, the volume turns up and down at the same time. With this bug the app is almost unusable. unfortunately, because your concept is fantastic

**Developer response:** Hello

Sorry for that experience. This happens because default midi output of this app is routed to AUM's MIDI control and it receives control change number 7 on channel number 1 as volume control. You can easily fix that by either changing output channel in lfoch or by disabling cc7 to channel volume in AUM.

As there is a default mapping in AUM for all midi control change 7 messages on respective channels, it doesn't make much sense if i change the default output channel of the lfoch from 1 to any other as it would send cc7 anyway if we have default 16 outputs.
I'll make a special note about that in the description to avoid this confusion and to setup the app properly.

Regards,
Alex

## Frequently asked questions about lfoch

### What is lfoch?

lfoch is an experimental LFO generator that can create "chase"-like effects with multiple outputs from a single complex waveform. It functions as both a standalone app and an AUv3 MIDI Effect.

### How much does lfoch cost?

lfoch is a paid application, priced at $3.99. There are no in-app purchases or advertisements associated with this app.

### What devices does lfoch support?

lfoch is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch devices. It is rated for ages 4 and up.

### Does lfoch have ads?

No, lfoch does not contain advertisements. It is a paid app with no in-app purchases, offering an ad-free experience.

### How often is lfoch updated?

lfoch was last updated on February 10, 2023, with version 1.0.1. The initial release date was January 26, 2023.

### Can lfoch sync to tempo?

Yes, each generator in lfoch can be synchronized to tempo. When synced, the speed value ranges from 4 quarter notes forward to 4 quarter notes backward, with the fastest being 1/32.

### What are the modes in lfoch?

lfoch has two modes for live usage: 'perform' mode, which features a larger waveform view and selected sliders, and 'edit' mode, which displays all controls on a single screen.

### How does lfoch handle MIDI output?

lfoch can output 1 to 16 points from its generated waveform as MIDI control change values on MIDI channel 1. When running inside an AUv3 host, it uses the host's transport, but a 'free mode' setting allows it to not follow the host transport.

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.0.2 — 2026-04-15

MAINTENANCE UPDATE

- minimum version is now iOS 15
- updated to latest JUCE framework version

### 1.0.1 — 2023-02-10

minor UI fixes:- "speed" slider in edit mode now has different precision options. It is divided in 4 vertical sections when you tap on it. Leftmost allows to change value instantly on new tap, three others provide different precision options- increased font size

### 1.0.0 — 2023-01-26

No release notes.
