### 2/5 — Buggy update!

*2026-08-29, version 5.2.11680*

I recently updated my app to the latest version and suddenly my TV disappeared. Fix this bug!!! Please, don’t try to tell me to switch off and on permissions and “Local Network” or any troubleshooting as I have done everything possible as you’ve advised other people who had already complained about the same thing, nothing works! The new version is broken, simple. I’m a QA Automation Engineer and I know what I’m talking about when I say the new version is buggy, tell you developers to fix the bug! I have gone through all the troubleshooting, so just fix the bug as a lot of people has been complaining about the same thing

### 3/5 — Bring back the Shortcuts commands

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

Or improve on what they were. That’d be so useful!

### 2/5 — Not great

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

There’s a couple issues with this app

First , it just randomly just stops working. You have to close and restart. At least once per use.

When your phone goes to sleep, the app seems to also go to sleep meaning that you have to wait for it to wake up. It doesn’t go back to where you were. It goes back to a summary page. If you have Amazon auto play, there’s not enough time for the app to get restarted before something random starts so you end up with something you don’t want in your continue watching list.

Even though there is an option to turn off ads, it still has ads on the top, over the actual things you want. Unsurprisingly, the ads are much bigger than the Netflix button.

Even though we have an LG surround sound system, it won’t let us select that as the default sound. You have to add the sound system to your Bluetooth and change it to surround sound every single time.

To be fair, when it’s working, it’s great. Just don’t let it go to sleep.

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

The most recent update has bricked this app. It crashes. Can’t use my AC anymore. Uninstalled and reinstalled. Still crashes. No reply from support. Dead in the water. Why do you want GPS access? This is an app for running my AC not a mapping app. Stop asking!

### 1/5 — App refuses to work

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

The app refuses to stay open and connect to the AC - it worked in the past but is refusing to work now

### 1/5 — No longer working after update

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

Had to re-add my TV after latest update but it can’t find it now. Useless.

### 2/5 — Was good, recent update nixed my 2019 TV

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

App was working perfectly fine (even with all the unnecessary advertising).

Updated apps tonight, including this one, and suddenly my TV can’t be found anymore. Can’t re-add it. No amount of network juggling works.

Guess corporate planned obsolescence strikes again.

### 1/5 — Surveillance Capitalism

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

LG thinks the Terms of Service gives them carte blanche (complete freedom to act however they see fit) over your privacy, over your life.

This app is an extension of that modus operandi- the worst of the worst of the worst. The app is like a digital prison for every aspect of your life. Think twice before downloading.

The developer says “we take your privacy seriously” They do, so much so they’ve made exploiting and expropriating our privacy the centerpiece of their profit engine.

Don’t say you weren’t warned!!

### 1/5 — Worked fine until last update

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Worked fine to control our 3 LG TVs until this week’s update—now it has lost all devices and will not find them. Probably need to QA/QC these updates a bit more.

### 1/5 — Horrible app

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Hate this app it don’t always work

### 1/5 — Where did my TV go?

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Where did my TV go after recent update yo??????

### 1/5 — HomeKit

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

HOMEKIT. API’s ARE CLOSED. THIS SMELLS LIKE NORTH KOREA

### 2/5 — App Updated now both TVs gone

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

I had been using the LG ThinQ app for a while to control both of the LG TVs in my household just fine. It was a great experience with a good and reliable connection as a TV remote. The latest update however has lost both of my TVs on the app, and it can’t find them again when trying to re-add them back. This needs fixed as soon as possible, otherwise the app is pointless and I’ll end up looking for another TV brand with a proper functioning app remote.

### 1/5 — Crash

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Application continues to crash intermittently. Please resolve and or provide patch. Thank you.

### 1/5 — bricked app

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Following the update to version 5.2.11680, the app crashes on first launch. On subsequent launches, the app opens frozen and remains frozen.

Even before this update, the app was quite slow to launch and load to a usable state.

### 1/5 — Spying app

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Why does the app require that I allow it to know my precise location? Apple shouldn’t allow such apps on its App Store, and/or shouldn’t allow apps to know if the iPhone ‘s “Precise Location” option is turned off. Developer claims location is need to search for wifi networks, which is of course a lie, because wifi networks are discovered from their signals, not their locations.

### 1/5 — Broken as of last update

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

Will not find my LG OLED C3 tv anymore.

iPhone 17 Pro Max

iOS 26.6.1

### 1/5 — Smh

*2026-08-26, version 5.2.11680*

I don't know how many times I have to sign in, sign in, sign in, sign in, sign in...... at this point LG as a brand is garbage.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Latest update broke app

*2026-08-29, version 5.2.11680*

App now freezes and then crashes. Can no longer use it at all since the latest update. Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Useless reply from developer

### 1/5 — Awful

*2026-08-28, version 5.2.11680*

This is an awful app. It never connects to your phone and when it does it clicks you off a bunch of times.

### 1/5 — Notification Spam

*2026-08-28, version 5.2.11680*

A perfect app if you want to spend thousands of dollars on appliances and get spammed with promotional notifications in return. Deleted it, disconnected my LG washer and dryer from the network. Exited the ecosystem.

### 1/5 — Update Is Horrible

*2026-08-28, version 5.2.11680*

What inept r*t**d designed the new update. The remote does not work nearly as well as it used to. I have an LG stanbyme and have zero care for any updates. As long as the apps work, I don't care about anything else. Whoever you have in charge has zero clue what they are doing. An elementary school child can do this better.

### 1/5 — TVs are gone

*2026-08-28, version 5.2.11680*

After the last update, my TVs are all missing from the app and can no longer control them through HomeKit.

### 1/5 — Update lost my set up

*2026-08-28, version 5.2.11680*

Lost my TV and I could never get it back

### 1/5 — Latest Update can’t find my TV

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

Previously could use for my LG tv. Did an update and now it can’t find it.

### 1/5 — Extremely intrusive

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

LG demands precise location just to connect to and maintain appliances I already own, and even tried to get permission to access my location while I’m not using the app. There is no reasonable need for LG to know exactly where I am throughout the day just so I can update my oven’s firmware. Basic appliance functionality should never be held behind invasive data permissions. Completely unacceptable.

Edit: i got a response saying “ Location is only used to search for networks when connecting your product over Wi-Fi. ^LG"”

LG’s response makes this worse. They claim location is “only used to search for networks when connecting over WiFi.” Then why does ThinQ require Precise Location, and why did it attempt to obtain location access while the app wasn’t in use? Neither is necessary simply to find my Wi-Fi network. If location truly has only that limited purpose, LG should not demand permissions that extend far beyond it.

### 1/5 — Latest update renders the app unfunctional!

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

The connection of this app to my LG television (the only LG appliance I have) has always been hit or miss. But at least I was able to pair the tv to my phone. Usually I could get it to connect eventually.

The latest update has destroyed that minimum level of functionality. The upgrade deleted the TV from my saved appliances. So I had to pair the TV to the app again. This worked OK with the upgraded app on my iPad. But the app on my phone does not find the tv and pair with it, even though I am doing everything as I did when pairing with the iPad. My requests for customer support go unanswered.

I am very happy with my TV and don’t need the app. But it is frustrating that LG would promote this app and then have it be non-functional. LG has a reputation for terrible customer services. This app is a perfect example of how that is true.

### 1/5 — App useless after update on 8/25/26

*2026-08-27, version 5.2.11680*

As the title says, the app has been completely useless since the stated update,as soon as I open it,it immediately crashes,I’ve already uninstalled and reinstalled it and signed and granted all the permissions again, and it’s STILL doing it

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Smart AC

*2026-08-29, version 5.2.11680*

I love being able to turn the AC on before I get home! And, it self diagnoses itself too? Whoa!

### 5/5 — App Reloads When Opened

*2026-08-28, version 5.2.11680*

This started yesterday when I ran the LG washer and dryer it would not allow me to clear the information after the units had finished. This is using iOS 26.6.1.

### 5/5 — Awesome app

*2026-08-24, version 5.1.33310*

Works great the way it’s supposed to . Great job lg.

### 5/5 — LG refrigerator

*2026-08-21, version 5.1.33310*

I recently purchased an LG refrigerator and couldn’t be happier. My old refrigerator’s freezer capacity was extremely small. It was so stuffed you couldn’t see what was in it. The new LG model has a much larger capacity along with a slide out tray with ice and additional freezer space. The clear see through door panel with multiple light up options is amazing. The capacity, lighting and convertible drawer are all great features. The thin q app is easy to use with many options to customize the appliance. I thoroughly researched refrigerators and am very confident I made a great choice. The cost was in line with similar brands/models with far less options. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — LG WashCombo All-in-one

*2026-08-17, version 5.1.33310*

Performance

### 5/5 — Convenient

*2026-08-16, version 5.1.33310*

Love how I can keep track of my laundry room and energy usage from my phone! Whoever created this app, this was a great idea!

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2026-08-13, version 5.1.33310*

It’s crazy that a washing machine can let me know when the wash is done, how the machine is functioning and draining, and when to run a tub clean cycle! I especially love it because my washer is downstairs

### 5/5 — Roya

*2026-08-11, version 5.1.33310*

I love ittttttt it’s so gooddddd

### 5/5 — No complaints!

*2026-08-10, version 5.1.33310*

Ive really enjoyed using this app with my LG front load washing machine. My laundry room is in my basement so it can be hard to hear the end chime. I love that it sends me a notification when my washing machine cycle has finished.

### 5/5 — Great

*2026-08-09, version 5.1.33310*

Lovely love it
