### 4/5 — It’s works

*2024-04-13, version 1.0.10*

However I’m sad you can’t passcode lock it. Because you can easily undo the content blocker

### 3/5 — Great app! Just one request

*2024-03-12, version 1.0.10*

The only reason I rated this 3 stars instead of 5 is I wish I could make groups of blocked websites, like I can set twitter to be blocked for 3 hours and YouTube to be blocked for a full day.

Other wise great app

### 2/5 — chrome

*2023-07-10, version 1.0.10*

yo i can still access everything on chrome for iphone so how exactly im supposed to stop myself? cuz this wqs working till i discovered that bug/feature

### 5/5 — Genious

*2023-04-11, version 1.0.10*

Unlike most blockers you can permanently block so you cant disable it

### 5/5 — Liberate App Works - Should be advertised more widely

*2023-03-17*

This works great and is worth the price. It does not slow down your iPhone operations either like many other website blockers and only blocks the websites you want instead of blocking random sites too.

My only question is why isn't this app promoted more. So many people are looking for something like this. Please, Mr. Carney, do seriously consider advertising this wonderful app more places, especially for iPhone users.

### 5/5 — It'd be nice if it had ability to have layers

*2023-03-15*

Like disable layer 1 until x,y,z time
But disable layer 2 at another time. Basically multiple groups of filters so i can disable one set of filters but keep another active.

### 2/5 — Not working anymore

*2023-03-12, version 1.0.10*

The app used to work on my iPhone flawlessly but isn’t blocking websites anymore.

### 3/5 — Missing one feature that would make it even better

*2023-02-23*

So it does what it says it does, pretty well, too. It would be great if there was some sort of password or title page (or whatever). Nope. Open the app and BAM there’s all the sites that are blocked…hopefully prying eyes don’t see it if for some strange reason.

### 3/5 — Am I missing something?

*2023-02-19, version 1.0.10*

Are you able to have separate block times for each website?

And it seems incredibly simple to just “edit” the end date. If I have a moment of weakness I can just edit the end date until tomorrow?

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2022-12-24, version 1.0.10*

This app doesn’t work on iPhone 12x, iOS 16.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not blocking

*2025-12-02, version 1.0.10*

Have websites on a list, but it’s not blocking them. Was working before

### 1/5 — Blocks website I did not configure

*2025-08-03, version 1.0.10*

I was enjoying this app for a few days and then I tried accessing Reddit and I was blocked despite never adding this site to the list. What other sites are ghost blocked?

### 1/5 — Can’t be used on iOS 18.4

*2025-05-17*

Yeah I this app worked great, but it no longer works on iOS 18.4. There haven’t been any updates to the app in 2+ years. The developer doesn’t seem to care to update and won’t contact back about it. Don’t waste your money unless you’re NOT running iOS 18, because if you’ve got 18, it won’t work.

### 1/5 — Ripoff

*2025-05-12, version 1.0.10*

Paid $5 and it stopped working the day I got it. No longer in extension list. Not working. No way to contact developers. No menu or anything to use. Don’t waste your money like I did.

### 1/5 — Amazing app—no longer works

*2024-12-19, version 1.0.10*

Please update the app. It was so helpful!

### 1/5 — Not great

*2024-02-23, version 1.0.10*

Won’t even block sites? I followers direction enabling the extension in setting and everything. Not worth $5

### 1/5 — Doesn’t block Chrome. Easily disabled in Safari

*2023-11-12*

I don’t know why I thought a paid app with good reviews suddenly would work. Doesn’t block chrome app. You have to “enable” this apps extension in safari which is very easy to disable. You also have to set a designated time for blocking, needs an on/off for what you’re blocking

### 1/5 — Does not work in Safari

*2023-10-09, version 1.0.10*

This app does not work as promised. I want my money back.

### 1/5 — Set a date, app stopped completely?

*2023-07-31*

If I don’t set a date it works, if I do it crashes. Also not very intuitive, made a mistake on a couple and you have to turn it off and delete, should just be able to make a correction and it keep running. All kinds of diagnostic errors too…

### 1/5 — Not sure what to do

*2023-02-20, version 1.0.10*

I just purchased the app but I did not expect that I would not be able to turn permissions on since it is greyed out on my phone. Can I get refunded?

### 5/5 — EDIT: NO LONGER Limited to 24 hour blocks?

*2026-10-16*

They used to let you block until a specific date and time. Now they severally limited the function to a timer that maxes out at 23:55. What happened to longer periods of liberation?

EDIT: really responsive developers restored the key feature of extended block times.

**Developer response:** Hey Bk65756, thanks for the feedback! You're right, longer blocks should still be allowed. I'll have an update coming soon that lets you block until a specific date and time again, with no limit.

### 5/5 — This really helps.

*2026-10-11*

**UPDATE** 10/10: The developer reached out to me and said they will fix the problem in the update that made it inconvenient to set a lock that spanned 2 days. I appreciate his response and willingness to listen to those of us who use the app. That response was regarding my last update a week ago:

I hate the upgrade!!! It’s super confusing. Tried to set it for 9:00 pm tonight through 6pm tomorrow and get a message “ the end time must be after the start time” . So it appears I’d have to set it till 11:59 pm tonight, then set another one for Tuesday midnight to 6pm. It was so wonderfully simple before!! I’ve used this daily for probably 10 years, but now I don’t know if I can keep using it. I am very upset!!! I don’t use weekly schedules I use daily schedules.

Original review below.

I don’t really do social media but there’s a forum I’ve been on for years that I fall down the rabbit hole all too often. I’d spend hours obsessively checking to see if my latest brilliant post (lol) got any “reps”, or I’d be at work and suddenly think of a good comeback I should have posted, then I’d go in the bathroom for 20 minutes to post and read posts. I’d waste hours a day. I’d be at family birthday parties with my face in my phone. Then I’d feel all kinds of shame afterward. This app has really helped me get it under control. I set it to unlock yesterday when I went to the hairdresser. So while I’m waiting for my color to process I could be on the site, but then I lock it again afterwards. On normal days I made a rule that I could only be on the site while I’m on the recumbent bike. So I set it to lock until that time I was planning to exercise. It’s not perfect, once I broke down waited 2 hours for AAA and couldn’t pass the time on the site cause it was locked and there’s no way around it (while Freedom app has a button to unlock it early, defeating the purpose IMO). Sometimes I still stay on a bit too long but that’s now the exception. My screen time is a fraction what it was. I’ve been using this app for several years now and absolutely need it. It does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

**Developer response:** Hi OCNJGirl, thank you for 10 years with Liberate, and I'm sorry the update made your routine harder. You're right that the schedule should handle overnight ranges like 9pm to 6pm the next day, and I'm adding that in the next update. In the meantime, the Block button just above the tab bar works exactly like before, so you don't need to use the schedule at all. If anything else feels off, tap the settings gear → Send Feedback and it comes straight to me. Thanks for sticking with it!

### 5/5 — Simple app

*2026-02-23*

Blocks websites for a specific time. Cheap. Works well. I wish it had some options. It is too barebones. I can’t really customize anything. Still better than paying a subscription when you just wanna block a few websites.

### 5/5 — Does what it says on the tin

*2026-02-02*

Works perfectly, no issues at all.

### 5/5 — Does exactly what it says

*2025-08-23*

This app blocks websites. That’s it. It’s also one of the only apps that allows you to block subdomains, which is a godsend if you only have problems with one specific part of a whole platform.
It doesn’t block them forever or something like that cause you can’t do that on ios. Use screen time instead and give your friend the password or something.

### 5/5 — God-sent app

*2025-07-04, version 1.0.10*

Clean layout, intuitive timer, no quick circumvent-button on the websites. I love it.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-03-03*

This is a great app, just what I needed. However could I request an additional feature to just fully block website without a set end date and a toggle on and off as well. The date thing can be kept as an option if that was the original intention, but also just a total website blocker that blocks indefinitely until it is toggled off as well would be awesome, many thanks though, still a great app, very useful, thank you.
