### 3/5 — Practical, yes. Aesthetic, no

*2026-08-07, version 6.1.7*

This app is good for logging your books to keep an eye on your collection. However, if you care about how it looks and matching the books you have, it is far from easy. The catalogue of existing books that it pulls in from when you scan is pretty shocking. Most have no cover attached, or the wrong one. Some of the titles come across in just a horrible format, all caps, full stops between each word. It’s a mess. Spent most of my time editing.

### 4/5 — Love it!

*2026-08-05, version 6.1.7*

I love this app. It has been very helpful as my husband and I build our collection, to make sure we do not buy any doubles of books we don’t necessarily want doubles of.
I thought I could only search my book title but I figured out how to look for by author.

### 4/5 — Helful

*2026-08-04, version 6.1.7*

Me and my sisters fight over who's book is who's and who gets what book and when so I scanned all of our books into seperate sections and we can keep track

### 3/5 — 5% can’t scan

*2026-07-25, version 6.1.7*

Out of 367 movies 24 could kept be found in their system. Including films like: Italian job, monsters inc., Schindler’s list…. Manual input is tedious and won’t let me fill out completely…

### 4/5 — Mostly great / would love some updates

*2026-07-19, version 6.1.7*

Mostly love this app would just love using it more if when it doesn't recognize a barcode it would let you make an entry for it from that point. And I wish the app version would let you search for titles not in your library, like you can on the desk top version. Would absolutely love the ability to just add an already existing entry in the app instead of having to use my computer.

### 4/5 — Cumple

*2026-07-17, version 6.1.7*

Me gustó mucho la app, le agregaría la opción de poder compartir los libros con un tercero para asi sepas cuáles libros tengo

### 4/5 — Great app

*2026-07-05, version 6.1.7*

Giving it a 4 only because some of the older books it doesn’t recognize the barcode/book so you have to type it in manually. Otherwise great app! I’ve organized all of my books and my kids books for all of us were at a total of 593 books so it’s definitely hard keeping track of what we already have.

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2026-07-03, version 6.1.6*

Prior to the most recent update, the app could use some additional features- to be able to filter by year of when books were finished, to be able to scroll or select letters on the side to find books by the first letter. Some cons- sometimes the cover of the book does not show when adding a book. When you manually add a cover picture - there’s no way to zoom in on the picture. With the newest update, I haven’t been able to add the picture of the cover because it says “unable to connect to server”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good app, but there could be better feature additions to make it better.

And please fix the server so I can add the cover photo, since it doesn’t always appear.

### 2/5 — Lost My Data

*2026-06-30, version 6.1.5*

The app makes cataloging books simple, but about 1/3 of my books have disappeared. I contacted the company, and they said they have no way to get it back.

### 4/5 — I love this App

*2026-06-28, version 6.1.5*

I absolutely love this app because I can categorize all the books in my personal library. I wish it had a “location” tab (think card catalog) so I can find my books easier.

The other suggestion would be to use (merge) an app like Speecjfy so that one could read the books in his/her personal collection.

But, it is super easy to use and the scan feature works incredibly well.

### 2/5 — Not enough collections!

*2026-06-16, version 6.1.5*

I have my Authors under collections and then add my books under that. And I only got about half of my books scanned and I got the alert that no more Collections available.

### 3/5 — Long time user

*2026-06-15, version 6.1.5*

I have been using this app for at least a year to keep track of my books. I was tired of purchasing a duplicate copy or not sure if I have the hard copy or soft. Great when it works. Keep getting the can’t connect to server error. It is happening more frequently now. Thinking of finding a new app. If I can’t access it it’s not very useful. Plus I collect vintage books and always have to hand enter the books.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2026-06-01, version 6.1.5*

The scanner made it so easy and so did the manual barcode entry. All my books are finally cataloged and I know what I have so when I buy more books I’m not rebuying the same book which I’ve almost did a couple times.

### 5/5 — One change I’d make, otherwise perfect!

*2026-05-24, version 6.1.5*

I love this app and have been using it for my personal library for years. I used to manage a huge spreadsheet of all the different books and genres that I own, but Libib makes it easy to just scan an ISBN barcode and automatically add to the category of your choosing.

The one change I’d like is to have a feature for noting what books you’ve lent out, like a library. I’ve lent books to friends and family over the years and it would be nice to track which books are where through the Libib app. Otherwise, a perfect app for cataloging your own library!

### 5/5 — Libib

*2026-05-22, version 6.1.5*

Brilliant free App just scan the barcode of any physical media and it adds it for you.

### 4/5 — multi select

*2026-05-15, version 6.1.5*

awesome but I just want to be able to multi select items and add them to a tag instead of individually tagging them as that takes ages

### 4/5 — Almost perfect

*2026-05-12, version 6.1.5*

Almost a perfect book app. I just wish they had features that would let you track books and movies you’ve read/watched but don’t own. Or a tbr/ tbw list

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — ISBN Only Search Limit

*2026-07-03, version 6.1.6*

In attempting to catalog my library I’ve made it through 1 1/2 shelves and half of the books Libib couldn’t find by ISBN. There is no other way to search for and add a book besides manually entering information. With 46 shelves to go, I will not be moving forward with this app.

### 1/5 — Scanner doesn’t work!

*2026-06-28, version 6.1.5*

Tried to use the app to scan my books and catalogue my library. Immediately didn’t register 4 out of the 5 books I scanned. They are brand new so there isn’t anything wrong with them.

### 1/5 — Ummm

*2026-05-20, version 6.1.5*

Can't find How I Met Your Mother or Friends DVD through barcode. Useless for me.

### 1/5 — Lost My Entire Collection in Update

*2025-12-28, version 6.1.2*

I have had this app since the beginning and loved it. Unfortunately, they updated the app and I lost all of my collection and have to re-add more than 10,000 items. Unfortunately that includes DVDs for which I no longer have the case making it much more difficult. I am so frustrated right now.

### 1/5 — Needs work

*2025-11-23, version 6.1.2*

When it works it works but when it doesn’t it really falls flat. Every book entered I have to double check because the database has incorrect information; ranging from the cover image to the year of publication which can be a big deal when using this for insurance purposes. 9/10 I can’t edit the information without upgrading to the paid version so the book has to be reentered manually (which is time consuming and almost defeats the purpose of having a database available).

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2025-11-11, version 6.1.1*

Camera function doesn’t work. Bought a scanner to sync and log books and it won’t connect either. App doesn’t have any setting options to try to sync scanner.

### 1/5 — Downloaded and deleted

*2025-11-10, version 6.1.1*

Downloaded the app to catalog my library. It was impossible to figure out and the interface lacked all common sense. Also, didn’t recognize books that other comparable apps located. Not worth your time to try.

### 1/5 — Update delete all my collections

*2025-10-25, version 6.0.9*

Got the update and now none of the collections I had exist in the app anymore. Beware if you use this to catalog your collections

### 1/5 — So close

*2025-09-10, version 5.1.3*

Edit:
I went ahead and tried to catalogue my “normal” library outside of my niche collections and this app fails to perform. I did one bookcase as a trial run. 59 of 163 books scanned didn’t turn up anything (more than a third). Annoyingly, it happened for some books kn a series and not others, it happened with some books from popular publishers and not others, etc.

Completely useless app with that success rate.

Original:
Has all the basic features but falls short of my needs.

I collect multiple editions of the same book for favorites and since the app version of Libib doesn’t show cover photos without clicking on individual entries, it’s not practical to see which editions I own while on the go.

I also have a large collection (~100) of pre-ISBN books. And additional books with ISBNs but without barcodes. The manual add process would be grueling for this, so I’ll keep looking for a different app. I’d pay for a version that would let me scan editions by cover (like Goodreads can).

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Libib

*2026-08-06, version 6.1.7*

Brilliant free App just scan the barcode of any physical media and it adds it for you.

### 5/5 — So far so good!

*2026-07-31, version 6.1.7*

Have only just downloaded and started organising CDs into boxes - the features of scanning is so easy and then you can move items to different collections if organising differently, plan to use this for CDs and DVDs - have found the search feature really good too! Amazed this is a free app as so useful!

### 5/5 — So good

*2026-07-28, version 6.1.7*

Genuinely the most helpful app for documenting my personal book collection - definitely helps if I am about to buy a book I already have. Also so good for tracking my rating of each book, means I don’t have to over complicate it on an app like fable or goodreads etc!! Highly recommend!!!

### 5/5 — Amazing Barcode Scanner

*2026-07-19, version 6.1.7*

The scanner reads barcodes instantly, no matter how small. I have a relatively small book collection and I thought entering the books’ information would be grueling, but Libib made the process easier than I would have thought possible. If you have a larger collection you can scan hundreds or even thousands of codes effortlessly. I’m quite impressed.

### 5/5 — A must-have for collectors of physical media

*2026-07-18, version 6.1.7*

This app is incredible. It is so intuitive. It is so easy to use. It is so flexible and incredibly useful. I consider this one of the most useful apps I have.

### 5/5 — Perfect for my needs!

*2026-07-16, version 6.1.7*

I have been trying to figure out an easy way to track my own collection.
Setting it up is super fast and easy if the books are new enough to have barcodes. I do have a lot of books written earlier than the late 1980s, so it did take some time to enter those.
You can edit existing descriptions and various other notes, make however many categories as you wish, and it even has a way to catalog your games! Looking forward to using this aspect of the app, too.
You get to have pictures of your own books. If there is an existing picture you can edit it to show your own. Very nice feature!

### 5/5 — Solid 4.5 or 4.75

*2026-07-08, version 6.1.7*

It’s not a full five stars even though that’s what I marked on the star rating since I can’t do half or quarters. It’s an amazing app and really helps me keep track of what books and movies I already own so I don’t end up with duplicates unless I’m looking at a standard copy versus a special edition copy. It’s a bit of a struggle to find some of my books at moments if I don’t use the correct terms as it tries to give me others that I’m not looking for. I love that I can add tags so I know what’s a signed copy and other details. The one downside is having to add images for some of my books as it doesn’t always pull them automatically. This is fine for the books I have to hand enter but the books I can just scan the barcode it kinda sucks. I do enjoy the web aspect that allows for quick edits too.

### 5/5 — Thank you for making this app!

*2026-07-01, version 6.1.5*

I've been searching for months for an app to organize my book collection so I don't end up buying the same titles over and over again. Libib solved my problem in minutes. I love this easy-to-use app.

### 5/5 — Perfect for your physical media collection

*2026-06-22, version 6.1.5*

I use it to see which movies I have and it’s perfect! I love that it’s all free no matter how big your collection is. I recommend.

### 5/5 — Personal librarian

*2026-06-10, version 6.1.5*

I found out about this app on TikTok from user mxkaya2.0 and I was like let me see what it’s about because I hoard books and constantly buy stuff and forget what I already have. This app is SO easy to use and honestly it’s so satisfying to scan in the books, it makes the experience of owning these many books much more like a library (which is my goal!) The app also tells you exactly how many books you have and for personal use it’s free!! You can use your phone camera to scan the book barcodes to catalog your collection and you can use it for much more than just books. I love this app!
