## What is LibreShelf?

LibreShelf is a personal library log for readers who want their shelves, reading notes, and loan records organized. Add books manually, track reading progress, save quotes, and keep private notes about what each book meant to you.

Key features
- Local workspaces for personal records
- Searchable notes and saved details
- Focused tools for the app's core workflow
- Export or share through system controls where available
- Designed for iPhone and iPad

The app is local-first. It does not require an account, does not include third-party analytics SDKs, and does not send your records to a developer server.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 2.2 — 2026-08-20

Improves the personal library workflow with clearer shelf, reading-progress, quote, loan, and private-note views across iPhone and iPad. Records remain local with system-controlled export and sharing.

### 2.1 — 2026-08-01

ReadingPathStudio: Reading sequence, workload, loan deadlines, and collection gaps.

- Choose a reading goal, time window, and eligible shelves
- Respect series order, loan deadlines, length, mood, and topic load
- Build a sequence with alternates instead of deleting the queue
- Compare workload against the reader's observed pace
- Export a reading brief with gaps, duplicates, and due items

### 2.0.1 — 2026-06-26

This update sharpens the interface: the iPad layout now uses a centered, comfortable reading width instead of stretching edge to edge, plus small display fixes. iPhone is unchanged.

### 2.0 — 2026-06-21

LibreShelf 2.0 — a big pro upgrade from a barcode catalog to a full library manager, still 100% offline.

• Collections & Tags: cross-cutting tags separate from physical shelves, with a tag cloud and tap-to-filter.
• Series Tracker: gap detection and "what's missing / next" with completion progress.
• Reading Insights: books by decade, a rating histogram, top authors, finish rate, and reading pace.
• ISBN Tools: validate, convert ISBN-10↔13, and decode the registration group — plus a rapid Batch Scan that flags books you already own.
• Duplicate detection and a wishlist planner with priorities and a budget rollup.
• Title-page OCR capture: point the camera at the title page to fill in title, author, and publisher (there's no internet lookup — it stays private).

No account, no network calls, no analytics — your whole catalog stays on your device.

### 1.3 — 2026-06-15

What's New in LibreShelf 1.1

Reading Queue - "Up Next"
Plan what to read next. Add any unread book to a personal reading queue and see the top pick spotlighted at the top of the new "Up Next" tab. Books in the queue show their position in the book detail view, and you can add an optional note (e.g. "book club pick" or "Sarah's recommendation") when queuing a book.

Share Book Review
Tap "Share Review" in any book's detail screen to assemble your personal notes and saved highlights into a clean, shareable plain-text document - including your star rating, finish date, and page numbers for each passage. Copy it to the clipboard or share via the system share sheet. Nothing is uploaded; the review is built entirely on-device.

Acquisition Cost Tracking
Record what you paid and where you bought each book in the book editor. The Stats tab gains a "Library Value" card that totals your spend across all priced books, with a count of how many have prices recorded. Wishlist books are excluded.

Bug fixes and polish
Settings version display updated to 1.1. Minor layout improvements.
