### 3/5 — Dimwitted like iTunes

*2026-09-11, version 10.2.0*

App starts playing over other streaming audio-services, the moment you open the homescreen. It automatically starts playing every time you go near a new bluetooth connection, even when you're listening to something else... just a skin-suited iTunes. Uninstalled.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2026-09-02, version 10.2.0*

Just need more titles.

### 3/5 — It’s fine

*2026-08-12, version 10.2.0*

It’s fine. Honesty, decent.

### 2/5 — Ray ray

*2026-08-04, version 10.2.0*

I guess it a good audiobook place but there is just old timie books that I don’t like

### 2/5 — Not impressed

*2026-08-01, version 10.2.0*

Very disappointed with new format. Why change something that was originally great?! Add are bullish and persistent and some will not disappear until you click to open them. Just terrible. I used to recommend LibriVox to everyone, but I don’t anymore. Sack ur developer “guru” and bring back the older simpler format, which was actually friendlier for the vision impaired users like myself.

### 3/5 — The update is a terrible.

*2026-07-18, version 10.1.0*

…so I’m looking for a different app. Hope I’ll be able to find one: this one sadly no longer has my loyalty.

### 4/5 — almost perfect

*2026-07-10, version 10.1.0*

really awesome stuff, pleaaaaase make a way to start a book over from the beginning if there isn’t already!

### 5/5 — Infected

*2026-06-21, version 10.1.0*

Brilliant

### 5/5 — Excellent resource

*2026-06-17, version 10.1.0*

LibriVox is an incredible resource for those that have a lot of car time and are interested in the classics! Thank you to the team

### 5/5 — Public Domain Powerhouse

*2026-06-15, version 10.1.0*

Since my genre tends to be 19th c English literature, Libravox never fails to supply a steady stream of novels in the public domain that interest me. Whether on a road trip or fighting insomnia, the option to have period drama read to me is fabulous. There are some talented readers Who bring these stories to life though a few are hard to hear. Ultimately I want to join the reader team and see if I can faithfully portray each character with panache.

### 5/5 — Realizing True Values

*2026-06-13, version 10.1.0*

We can do a lot of things these days, go a lot of places and read a myriad of Books “Electronically” without ever having to Touch Paper…,

…but of a Most Wonderful element in these Busy Times is one’s ability to choose from a myriad of Titles from LibriVox, so as to Plug-In, Tune-Out and Work-Out one’s at-hand Job…
(…and to do so REPEATEDLY with those titles one would rather LIVE-OUT than READ-WITHIN…). THANK YOU LIBRIVOX (Book-Aloud)❣️

### 5/5 — Supreme history lessons

*2026-06-11, version 10.1.0*

Classic Fiction teaches history, but the non-fiction brings God into it. The readers are mostly delightful. Librivox has made me a better person with the help of Tolstoy, Dickens, the Bronte sisters, Mellville, Jane Austin and so many others.

### 5/5 — LibriVox

*2026-05-20, version 10.0.1*

Love this app so many books to choose from

### 5/5 — So glad for a free app, even though the ads are sometimes annoying

*2026-05-05, version 9.9.0*

I love it and use it all the time although I could wish there were more Christian books…

### 5/5 — Treasure trove of content

*2026-05-02, version 9.9.0*

There are thousands upon thousands of hours of content available in the public domain. The volunteer readers are generally quite good and listen-able. There are also some professionally released items, such as from the British Broadcasting Corporation. Why needs to pay for an audiobook subscription?!??

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — What happened?

*2026-08-21, version 10.2.0*

I have loved Libra vacs for years and now there are like videos that are not part of this. This is about books that are out of everywhere so why am I seeing these weird videos? I don’t wanna watch them. That’s the other videos places I’m so upset.

### 1/5 — It has deteriorated

*2026-08-17, version 10.2.0*

It used to be a great app but they’ve done something to it that forces you to listen to nothing except the advertisements. I’ve tried removing it and reinstalling but the problem persists. I will find something else instead.

### 1/5 — …

*2026-08-17, version 10.2.0*

Last week I spent a looooong time creating shelves of stuff I wanted to listen to. Today, I was looking into the lifetime plan, and realized that while those shelves are still there, they are empty. Why would I pay for something that I know is going to waste immense amounts of my time? I guess I’ll just use Internet Archive…

### 1/5 — AI claims another victim

*2026-05-21, version 10.0.1*

the app has been ruined by AI graphics and messy interface. just use the website, i'm pretty sure this is just some guy profiting off of volunteer labor anyway

### 1/5 — Uninstalled

*2026-05-07, version 9.9.0*

Sadly had to uninstall this app after I received one of those fake virus ads that i couldn't close. You might want to monitor the advertising closer, because I really like this app.

### 1/5 — Mucho peor

*2026-04-11, version 9.8.0*

La versión anterior era muy básica y mejorable, pero este nuevo engendro es mucho peor. Como dice Coque Malla, no hay manera.

### 1/5 — My collections disappeared

*2026-04-10, version 9.8.0*

I spent a lot of time organizing books into collections so I could know what I was interested in listening to. Today I opened the app and the collections were EMPTY.

I logged in and out, uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing mattered. My collections are blank and I have to start entirely over.

### 1/5 — Once a great app, now it sucks.

*2026-02-14, version 9.6.0*

It used to be very functional & flexible. Yeah it was generic. Now it's pretty & shiney, & excruciatingly frustrating! Google a.i. says it is a third party app, not part of the librivox organization. The app's creators have commercialized it--naturally, to make money on otherwise free books which exist only because hundreds of unpaid volunteers dedicated their time & vocal cords to the spread of public domain books. So someone else is taking advantage of their labor making a killing on a wreckage of an app that once did everything anyone could want from an audiobook player. Now it doesn't. I'll be looking for alternatives.

### 1/5 — Loud audio ads a real problem

*2026-02-04, version 9.6.0*

Librivox as a website is great, and this app, while sometimes a little frustrating with the banner ads and ad pages between other pages was a good way to listen to librivox audiobooks on the go.
But apparently now it’s also including LOUD startling audio ads between chapters. This makes the app useless for anyone who wants to use it to listen to books to relax or fall asleep.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best book app

*2026-09-09, version 10.2.0*

I love this hat your orators and glasses selections are top notch. It’s not loaded with commercials and you can buy a free at a reasonable price although there are great new books other apps for classic this app is the best.

### 5/5 — Free Audiobooks!!

*2026-09-05, version 10.2.0*

LibriVox feels like a time capsule of the best of the internet. It is community-run, and full of labors of love that we get to learn from for free. I love that it isn’t corporatized, or made more “modernized” in the ways that tend to make the internet only worse.

When you find a book that really speaks to you, it’s so much better than a podcast or modern audiobook. It’s a portal to the past (as most titles on here were written 100+ years ago), which provides a much greater level of learning than only reading modern books. I love their history and detective titles (A Study in Scarlet is an amazing listen on here).

### 5/5 — Love it

*2026-08-22, version 10.2.0*

Comfort listen to the old stories

### 5/5 — The greatest audiobook app!

*2026-08-11, version 10.2.0*

This app is incredible. LibriVox is amazing. The world is a better place because of LibriVox. Enough listening pleasure to last a lifetime.

### 5/5 — Bravo

*2026-08-08, version 10.2.0*

What can I say, in this busy age and the wonderful sound systems we have in our cars, it is so easy to enjoy the classics from the comfort of our vehicle.

I love this site and I appreciate all the actors that have shared their voices!

### 5/5 — A Wonderful Resource!

*2026-07-30, version 10.1.0*

This really is a treasure to be enjoyed!

### 5/5 — Great app!!

*2026-07-20, version 10.1.0*

This is the best application for learning true history. Listen, learn, and volunteer.

### 5/5 — Great service, and free

*2026-07-18, version 10.1.0*

This is an amazing project to which many people have contributed a great deal of time. I have listened to books (some very long) that I would never have been able to stick with if I had to read them. I’ve enjoyed many of them. Thanks to all.

### 5/5 — Gratitude

*2026-07-03, version 10.1.0*

I am so grateful for your wonderful service. It is truly a blessing to have access to so many of the classics thanks to your work and effort.
