He found it interesting, could get some visual feedback from the sand, and it engaged him because it is anthropomorphised. Downside is that the times for different events are pre-set and there isn’t a great deal of variation. There is a custom time option, which means you choose from four pre-sets of a 1m, 2m, 3m or 4m, plus a ‘custom time’ which brings up your music selection, does it know when a song ends? You also can’t see the time for something unless you set it to go, then its a pain to get out (you have to wait for it to go through the motions of a child ending it early). Which works well when using it as designed, but limits exploration. It also crashes when you select a song in your iPad that isn’t downloaded but is listed because its in your cloud. But overall, if you want a timer to motivate a kid to do something quickly or for a set time, this is a good option. ### 5/5 — Love it! *2013-12-28, version 2.0.1* Our daughter had been using a sticker chart to keep track of her bedtime routine, but it would still go so slow! We tried this once and got her down in 4 minutes and she loved seeing the visuals. She even asked to see them as we changed her diaper! It plays fast paced music that speeds up as time is running out. He loves pushing the "I did it" button when he is finished and the app cheers. For example my child takes hours to eat her meal, so now we set a timer for 20 minutes. BUT after the year I had to update the app to continue using it. I updated it and then IT LOOKED HORRENDOUSLY TRASH! I hate the new version! I use this in my classroom for timed activities and I wish there was a way to bypass the "introduction" every time. Also, there is no quit option of you accidentally hit the wrong time and then you have to sit and wait for the duck to come out and quack at you... My biggest complaint is that once the timer finishes, if you don't hit the home button right away, it freezes and you have to restart the whole app every time.
