### 5/5 — Visually appealing!

This app is absolutely fascinating. I love watching how each sequence will play out. Awesome app!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Stupid and finicky

*2020-08-16*

This is stupid and finicky

### 1/5 — Not good ratings

*2020-07-27*

Bad ratings

### 2/5 — Decent design but obviously missing features

*2022-03-26*

The lack of a clear button is a glaring omission from what would be a fairly good game-of-life implementation.

Also, unfortunately, no speed controls.

### 3/5 — OK, but could use more features

*2015-04-19*

Review

The game works. The field is very large – large enough for pretty much any normal pattern – and completely readable. You can store patterns and recall them. There is an excellenty collection of well-known patterns, that can be copied to the field with a single touch, and they're accompanied by good good explanations.

You can't see the number of moves. You can't save part of the field. You can't delete part of the field. It would also be nice to be able to start a pattern over again without having to save it first. It would be nice to be able to delete multiple patterns at a time.

### 4/5 — Good, with a large bug

*2020-08-11*

It is great. I love the format of all the different shoes that you can put down, but the reset button doesn't work so I have to reset the game everytime I want to start over.

### 4/5 — The Only One That Works

*2019-07-28*

I downloaded literally every other Conway’s Game of Life app in the app store, and this is the only one that let’s you zoom, draw, and play on a large board. The clear function doesn’t work for some reason, so it lost one star for that.

### 4/5 — Likely the BEST game of life app

*2015-02-19*

Highly customizable, and its preset patterns are highly useful.

Room for improvement:
no eraser or reset button;
allow even faster speed (if possible... :P)

### 5/5 — Better then everything else before

*2021-07-25, version 1.3*

The map is huge, not 2 complex!

### 5/5 — it's (almost) perfect

*2020-08-07*

for the people complaining about no reset, you can shake your phone and an option for it pops up. The only things i would change is that it needs a random board option and an infinite board.

### 5/5 — The Best.

*2020-04-19, version 1.3*

Maybe would be higher in the search if it had a different name. Someone went to *a lot* of effort!

## Most praised reviews (7 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent Game of Life app

*2020-04-16*

Definitely one of the best GOL apps for the iPad. Huge library with nice explanation of each pattern, all in the standard features except it’s missing a generation counter/population indicator. I’d take off half a star for that, but they don’t allow half stars here so I’ll round it up to five stars.

### 5/5 — Best app for Life

*2013-11-10*

This is the best app for generating Conway's Game of Life. However, it needs an option for the universe to not wrap around, as well as a way to change the rules, for High Life and whatnot. And, the best possible improvement you can make would be the ability to not place cells immediately, but to touch your finger, have the pattern appear, but then be able to move the pattern by dragging your finger. That would avoid any irritating accuracy failures. All in all, awesome app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-04-06*

It's exactly what I wanted And free. No complaints.

### 5/5 — Best Game of Life

*2013-02-28*

This is the best game of life implementation I've seen, out of all the free ones and quite possibly out of the non-free ones too. I love the zoom function (something i have been looking for but have only seen here) and the saved patterns. I was rather impressed with the speed with which it ran as well.
My only suggestion is to keep track of the settings I change after I close the app...

### 5/5 — Excellent Job

*2012-12-01*

I love Conway's game of life and this is the best free app for it. Everything works great.

### 5/5 — Legit app

*2012-07-02*

I was not sure if this app would be interesting but it is actually really cool to see how this works! Great App (:

### 5/5 — Interesting app!

*2012-06-30*

I didn't know much about conways game of life but it sounded interestjng so I decided to give this app a shot. Very good tutorial that had me up and running pretty quickly. The ui is clean and intuitive which also made it very easy to use. I even passed it on to my kid nephew and he had some nice patterns going quickly thanks to the built in pattern generator. Good app!!
