I have a GCSE English Language Grade C and a poor memory, but I am strong at problem-solving. My strategy was to quickly go through the handbook and then practise with the tests in the app, which helped reinforce the correct answers to the questions I got wrong. I prepared for less than 48 hours and still managed to pass. You need the book and the official website to learn which I have just received after I failed. ### 1/5 — Don’t study with this app alone, get the book! *2024-02-15* So I have been studying on 3 different highest rated apps to see as many different questions as possible for the past few months. I took the test when I was sure I was getting 95% at least from each test available on those 3 apps. Took the test last week and almost failed cause the test included 5-6 questions in total from 3 different Life in the U.K. apps in total (including this one). The rest of the questions I have never seen once. I audibly said “what the hell” in the exam. I was able to pass because the random answers I gave to the questions that I didn’t know, ended up being correct, to my luck. They may have changed the question pool and made it harder. 4 other friends took the exam in the last month and they all said it was super hard to pass, when I know that in the past some people who cannot speak English has passed the exam by just memorising the questions. Study on the books. Tests aren’t going to be enough. ### 2/5 — Lots of mistakes / Not matching actual exam questions *2026-01-21, version 2.23* That was the first app I downloaded based on reviews. Unfortunately the questions don't match the questions in the actual exam. The questions are very hard with the intention that the user spends more time in the app to watch more ads. Avoid. There's a Web page I found on a discussion on reddit that has 90% of the actual questions. ### 2/5 — Not good for iPad *2026-01-07, version 2.23* Sadly this app has a far too small fond for the multiple choice answers. I used this app to prepare for about a week, and honestly, it was extremely helpful. I went through the questions and material, and after revising everything once, I passed my actual Life in the UK Test! The app is easy to use and has plenty of useful practice questions. The only downside is that there are quite a lot of ads, but luckily I have an AdGuard membership, so that wasn’t much of an issue for me. This app was a godsend. Super helpful questions. Challenged myself to try each set until I could score 80%+ and then never looked at that set again. None of the questions were exactly the same on the exam but many were very very similar. Flew through my test in 10 minutes and passed.
