## What is Life?

Life-Link.app was conceived and created by a retired Australian paramedic.

Life-Link.app is free to download. Start with a 30-day trial, then continue for AU $4.99/year, or a one-off payment of AU $39.99.

Life-Link.app helps people stay in touch in small, informal groups of two or more. No social media — just being social. Only people you invite can see your status or chat with you.

You might live alone and want low-pressure contact with people you trust — to say "I'm OK" or "I NEED HELP!" and know the right people will see it. You might be a friend or relative who gets a nudge when someone wants to connect, or an alert when they need support. Or both: one carer supporting several people, or one person with several contacts looking out for them.

WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Post wellbeing status — Feeling Great, I'm OK, Feeling Unwell, Feeling Bad, or I NEED HELP! — so Emergency Contacts are notified immediately
• Receive notifications for alerts, replies, and activity from contacts you care about
• Group chat with your Life-Link.app connections
• Share location when you choose, with map context during an active emergency (only when enabled)
• Add optional profile details (e.g. medical notes) that approved Emergency Contacts may see on the emergency dashboard when you ask for help

WELLBEING & HEALTH DATA
Life-Link.app is not a medical device and does not diagnose conditions. Core alerting works from the status you choose to post — no wearable or Health data required for basic use.

Wellbeing status (user-initiated): You choose when to post Feeling Great, I'm OK, Feeling Unwell, Feeling Bad, or I NEED HELP! Optional notes included. Updates appear on your Timeline and notify approved Emergency Contacts.

Optional Wellbeing Data (experimental; permission required): On the Life-Link.app iPhone app you may turn on Use and show Wellbeing Data in Settings and choose a source — Apple Health (heart rate and steps) or a compatible smart ring via Bluetooth. Readings may be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable. You decide whether Emergency Contacts can see Wellbeing Data during I NEED HELP!

During an active I NEED HELP! alert with emergency Wellbeing sharing on, and while your Life-Link.app stays open, fresher readings may upload so approved Emergency Contacts can see optional heart rate, steps, and (for ring) SpO₂ on the emergency dashboard — context only, not diagnosis. Contacts cannot read your ring or Apple Health directly and cannot trigger a new read on your phone. You can turn Wellbeing Data off, change source, or unbind a ring anytime.

We do not sell health or wellbeing data, use it for ads, or monitor you for marketing. The app may remind you (not your contacts) if device battery is critically low and not charging.

Wellbeing statuses, notifications, chat, and emergency location sharing work fully without a smart ring or Health data. Wellbeing Data is always optional.

BACKGROUND LOCATION (ONLY WITH YOUR CLEAR PERMISSION)
Optional and only for emergency support: after "I NEED HELP!", and only if you allow background access, location may be shared with your Emergency Contacts for up to 24 hours — nobody else, not for ads. Without that permission and status, background location is not used for sharing.

PRIVACY AND CONTROL
• You choose Emergency Contacts and who can message you
• Foreground location is optional when you turn it on
• Optional Apple Health and Bluetooth ring access require separate permission in Settings
• Read our privacy policy for full details

Life-Link.app is for communication and everyday support between people who already know each other. Not a substitute for emergency services — call your local emergency number when life or safety is at immediate risk.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-08-24

What's new in Life-Link.app 1.4

• Clearer Wellbeing Data settings — choose whether to show data on your Dashboard, and whether Emergency Contacts can see it during I NEED HELP!
• Optional Apple Health as a Wellbeing Data source (heart rate and steps), alongside compatible smart-ring pairing
• Improved ring scan and pairing reliability, plus clearer phone checklists
• Fresher optional Wellbeing snapshots for trusted contacts while you keep the app open during I NEED HELP!
• Easier navigation (scroll position remembered; Back to Top on key screens)

Life-Link.app is not a medical device. Call emergency services when life or safety is at immediate risk.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-18

What's new in Life-Link 1.3

Optional smart ring wellbeing (experimental)
• Pair a compatible smart ring in Settings and use Recent Wellbeing Data on your Dashboard when you choose.
• On-demand heart rate, SpO₂, and steps for your own dashboard context — not diagnosis or fitness coaching.
• During an active I NEED HELP! alert, with sharing enabled and the app open, fresher readings may appear for approved Emergency Contacts on the emergency dashboard.
• Rename your ring with a Life-Link display name (saved with your account and remembered if you unbind and pair the same ring again).
• Improved pairing, restore, and unbind flows, plus clearer guidance to keep the app open when emergency ring updates matter.

Clearer privacy language
• Ring wellbeing remains optional and experimental. Core “I'm OK” / “I NEED HELP!” alerting still works with no wearable.
• Emergency contacts only see snapshots your phone has already shared in that emergency context — they cannot read your ring directly.

Reliability and polish
• Dashboard wellbeing cards and freshness labels are easier to read in an emergency.
• Loading and notification prompts are smoother when you open the app.
• Help, About, and support links are clearer so App Links open the right experience.

As always
• Life-Link.app is not a medical device and is not a substitute for emergency services.
• Call your local emergency number when life or safety is at immediate risk.

Thank you for using Life-Link.app — and for looking out for one another.

### 1.2 — 2026-07-02

What's new in 1.2

• Optional smart ring support — pair a compatible Bluetooth ring from your Dashboard or Settings to see heart rate, SpO₂, steps, and battery level. Ring vitals are optional and experimental; core I NEED HELP! alerts work without a ring.

• Faster emergency wellbeing — when you post I NEED HELP!, the app starts reading from your paired ring right away and reminds you to keep Life-Link open for the best updates.

• Better dashboard for emergency contacts — clearer activity while waiting for a contact's wellbeing data to refresh, plus manual Get Data when you want a fresh ring read.

• Smoother wellbeing display — clearer timestamps, freshness indicators, and visual highlights when new vitals arrive.

• Reliability and UI fixes throughout the app.

### 1.1 — 2026-06-06

• More reliable notifications and Recent Activity — including fixes for inbox counts and alerts when you return to the app
• Improved layout on iPhone and iPad, including better header spacing on newer devices
• Notification bell badge now displays correctly
• Clearer direct-chat alerts for your Life-Link contacts
• Optional Apple Health support: heart rate and step data may be shared with Emergency Contacts as context during an active I NEED HELP! alert (permission required)
• Stability and performance improvements throughout the app
