## What is Lifeproof?

Lifeproof – The heart of your life. Proven.

You’ve emigrated. Your home country doesn’t believe you.

Lifeproof documents your daily life abroad comprehensively and tamper-proof. Save documents, doctor’s appointments, letters from the authorities and more directly from any app. Scan papers with your camera. Enter your journeys manually or let the app count them automatically.
The result: a watertight report that your tax advisor or the tax office will understand.

What Lifeproof does for you:
- Counts the number of days you’ve spent in each country – automatically or manually
- Saves boarding passes, PDFs and photos directly from the share menu
- Scans documents with the camera to create clean PDFs
- Secures every entry with a hash chain to prevent subsequent tampering

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-02

First-run setup
- When you first open the app you set your home country and choose whether counting starts on the setup day or whether you enter past trips.
- If you already have an account, you sign in during setup and load your entries from the cloud.
- Language and reminders are part of the same flow. The notification permission prompt only appears if you select at least one reminder.

Restoring from the cloud
- When loading a backup, the app verifies the hash chain and only takes over the part that is fully connected. The number of entries left out is shown.
- If your cloud backup holds the chain of a different installation, it is left untouched.

Reset to factory settings
- In the settings you can reset the app completely: entries, their photos and documents and all settings are deleted from the device.
- A confirmation dialog states beforehand what will be deleted. With an account connected you can choose to delete the cloud backup as well.

Permissions and reminders
- Turning on location capture asks for the location permission only.
- The reminders in the settings show whether the operating system allows notifications for Lifeproof, and take you straight to granting it if needed.
- Trip entries are saved without a location prompt – they describe a period you specify yourself.
- Note: Lifeproof uses your location even when the app is closed or not in use, in order to document your stay continuously. You can turn tracking off at any time in the settings.

More reliable location capture
• Background capture now also works without an internet connection and while the device is locked.
• Locations that are transmitted later now appear on the day they were actually recorded.
• Border crossings are detected even when they occur shortly after a previous capture.
• Note: Lifeproof uses your location even when the app is closed or not in use, in order to document your stay continuously. You can turn tracking off at any time in the settings.

Counting method per country
• The way days of stay are counted can now be set per country.
• Every preset shows what it is based on – a legal source, a tax advisor statement, or unverified – and when it was last reviewed.
• You can override every rule yourself. The presets are suggestions and do not replace tax advice.

Correction in the calendar
• If a border crossing was only recorded the following day, you can correct the country of the previous day.
• The original measurement is kept unchanged. The correction is added as a separate, traceable entry including its justification.

Reminders
• New weekly reminder to review your recorded locations.
• The daily reminder now only appears on days with no recorded location.

Other changes
• The PDF report states the counting method used per country.
• Fixed an issue where entries were in rare cases not saved in the background.
• Fixed crashes on startup and when confirming the legal notice.
• General stability and bug fixes.

• Daily tracking: The prompt to set location access to "Always"
    now disappears immediately once you've granted permission.
    Previously, it remained on screen until you restarted the app.
  • Improved crash reports so that bugs can be found and fixed
