### 3/5 — Not paying for scanning food

*2026-08-27, version 23.12.1*

When downloading this I was expecting a feature at the bottom for EVERYONE to scan everything just by what your eating not just the barcode. I make meals at house not just things that have barcodes but i was hit with having to pay for it to scan my food instead of just a bar code

### 2/5 — Slop Machine

*2026-08-26, version 23.12.1*

As an ultramarathon guy, I need a nutrition app that can keep up with big mileage, huge calorie demands, and serious fueling. Lifesum is not that app.

The AI feature is honestly misleading. The app talks up its AI like it is some next-level nutrition coach, but the actual experience does not match the hype. It feels like the app is straight-up slop machine and not in an edible way.

The calories Lifesum logs do not always match the numbers it says it is logging. That is a huge issue when you are trying to fuel a 50K, recover after a long run, or make sure you are not accidentally under-eating. If I cannot trust the numbers, what is the point, bro?

The UI is also clunky and frustrating. Basic stuff takes too many taps, menus are not where you expect them to be, and the whole app feels harder to use than it needs to be. When I am tired after a long training day, I do not want to wrestle with a confusing food tracker.

Lifesum might work for casual calorie counting, but for endurance athletes who need accurate numbers, useful coaching, and a smooth experience, it misses the mark. I would look elsewhere, brochacho.

### 2/5 — Calorie counts are not accurate

*2026-08-26, version 23.12.1*

Many of the calories of foods found in this app are rated lower or higher than what the numbers actually are. Accuracy is way off.

### 2/5 — Glitches that misled my weight loss journey

*2026-08-24, version 23.12.1*

I’ve had this app for years now, even bought the premium at one point but something wasn’t right. I wasn’t losing weight like I was hoping for and I ended up gaining weight. I am a little overweight and I am really trying to get back to a healthy size, but there’s glitches that happen on the app frequently to where it is telling me I am burning more than what I normally do. Doubling or even tripling the amount that I actually burned and I also it’s not counting my walking at all. .. this app needs some serious improvements and I don’t think it’s worth the $99 that’s being asked.

### 2/5 — Share option removed

*2026-08-22, version 23.12.1*

Why did you removed the share option you use to have? I was using the app to plan our needs with my partner and the option to share meal was the main reason I choose this app. We eat the same food so it was really convenient to just share the meal with here and she would only have to adjust the portion. I will be looking for another app.

### 3/5 — AI counter needs a lot more work

*2026-08-19, version 23.12.1*

Pretty decent app, however the AI feature definitely needs more work on accuracy and counting calories. I find that it doubles/triples the total calorie amount on items. A Starbucks drink can be labeled 210 cals per their website, and the ai counter is counting it as 587 cals.

### 4/5 — Overall really helpful app with some quirks

*2026-08-17, version 23.12.1*

I’ve been a subscriber for roughly 5 years. Tracking what I eat has been critical to a healthier life. I dropped 55 lbs and increased fitness overall. This app helped me manage my eating better, supplied some better choices and recipes, and made it pretty simple. The less friction you have tracking your eating, the more likely you’ll track it. The AI updates made this even easier with taking pictures of your meal to track it. It’s not perfect, but it’s often close enough that the slight differences won’t materially impact your tracking. The one area it seems less intelligent is in reminders. I’m constantly reminded of eat breakfast or lunch long after I’ve already tracked it in the app. That seems like a no-brainer to handle correctly. This is a little annoying but not a deal breaker. They also have a relatively reasonable subscription amount. I still recommend.

### 4/5 — They keep removing features

*2026-08-13, version 23.12.1*

I’m not sure why but a lot of the nutrient trackers are gone. It says how much sodium I’ve consumed, but they removed what the goal amount is for me to compare how I’m doing. The macronutrients was the feature they touted that got me to sign up for a paid subscription and now they’re whittling away that info. Not sure why. I like a lot of the features but wish they’d stop removing things and bring back the features we signed up for.

### 3/5 — Stop with the modal

*2026-08-13, version 23.12.1*

Is an okay app. They really should put a limit on the Upgrade modal. It pops up each time I open the app
I don’t respect the bombardment marketing and it only works to demonstrate the type of stakeholders in the business.
I dismiss several times a day.
You want me to upgrade bc I want to upgrade, not bc I’m fed up with a modal.
The basic app is decent, leave me alone

### 2/5 — Needs work

*2026-08-12, version 23.12.1*

App has a lot of potential when the air tracking works, seems to be down or not working very often.

A little frustrating for a nap just supposed to help you track your calories.

Customer service needs improvement too, reached out for support, got generic Chatbot responses.

### 2/5 — Technical problems

*2026-08-08, version 23.12.0*

I purchased a 3 month subscription and at first I was happy with the app. Then I started to have issues with tracking meals. Attempting to log a meal, then it doesn’t show up in my log after it said it was logged. Scanning bar codes that came up with correct information but then when it’s logged it showed up as one calorie in my log. When logging meals you want to log them quickly and when you eat the meal. It’s just not worth the price to have to mess with the app for 15 minutes to get your meal logged correctly. Sadly disappointed, I really had high hopes for the app and intended to use it long term.

### 2/5 — SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME

*2026-08-06, version 23.12.0*

I got the subscription and thought this app would be a great choice, WRONG. This app is terrible! Improperly logging my meals, trying to tell me chicken thighs have no protein? It’s a waste of time and money. So much for an app supposedly built to help you live a better and healthier lifestyle.

### 2/5 — Loved it for years, but ongoing bugs have made it unreliable

*2026-08-05, version 23.12.0*

I’ve used Lifesum for years and have stayed with it largely because I had so many meals, favorites, and frequently used foods saved in the app. Unfortunately, the reliability has really declined for me this year.

Recently, I’ve had multiple issues where I log food and it appears tracked in one place, but then my dashboard shows nothing logged and 0g of protein. My recent foods and favorites are also missing, outdated, or inconsistent, which makes tracking much more time-consuming. On top of that, my health data is not importing properly, so my macros are not adjusting as expected.

I’ve reported bugs several times this year, and while support has been kind and responsive, the issues have not been resolved quickly enough for an app that I rely on daily. Food tracking only works if the data is accurate and consistent, and right now I don’t feel confident that what I’m logging is being saved or reflected correctly.

I really hope these issues are fixed soon because I used to love this app, but at this point the inconvenience is starting to outweigh the convenience. For a paid subscription, I need a tracking app I can rely on every day.

### 4/5 — Great!

*2026-07-31, version 23.12.0*

I use this for every meal and tracking my water intake! However, it would be great to have a Food Preference for people who have dietary restrictions (Diabetes, Heart Disease etc) for low Sodium, or low Sugar. I would appreciate that a lot

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2026-07-29, version 23.12.0*

I don’t know what happened to this app lately, it feels rather buggy. My activity imports keep doubling or tripping up, I see multiple entires for the same data. Switching between days back-and-forth makes the numbers change randomly. It is kind of a mess.

### 2/5 — Alright, but buggy as can be..

*2026-07-28, version 23.12.0*

Just a standard diet app.. nothing i’d call home about, but gets the job done usually.. but about half the time this app is so buggy that it is unusable! It wont launch, or if it does you may encounter issues logging food. It will either buffer for an extremely long time and not log, or if you try to back out of the buffering and log it again, theres a chance it will log the same food several times. It can difficult if you forget to log your snack later due to the app not working, and forget you had that snack, you might go over your calorie limit by accident.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Correct reading needs multiple app restarts

*2026-08-29, version 23.13.0*

To get a correct reading of the burned calories the app needs to be restarted multiple times. It looks more like a slot machine with range from 0kcal to 2300kcal, which has nothing to do with the correct data. After 3 or for restarts it shows the correct number. There is no way that this app is accurate.

### 1/5 — Awkward to Use

*2026-08-26, version 23.12.1*

The app is not user friendly. I can’t seem to change from grams to ounces. Adding recipes is awkward. And when the AI is wrong, it’s impossible to correct it. You just have to start over. I’m also annoyed that I paid for a year, have only used 4 days, and I can’t find a link that allows a person to contact the company to ask for help or to ask for a refund. Ugh.

### 1/5 — Pop Ups

*2026-08-25, version 23.12.1*

I used to really like this app, but if you have the free version, every time you go to open it, a pop up appears asking you to go “premium”. It’s forcing me to use the app less and less.

### 1/5 — Fell off a cliff

*2026-08-22, version 23.12.1*

App always glitches out and doesn’t freezes upon launch even after restarting the app multiple times. When it doesn’t glitch, a pop up to pay always pops up every time

### 1/5 — Extrêmement DÉÇU!

*2026-08-16, version 23.12.1*

### 1/5 — Inaccurate Information

*2026-08-12, version 23.12.1*

The nutrition data in LifeSum is consistently inaccurate, even when scanning products by barcode. I regularly scan a barcode, enter the correct serving size, and the app will register is as 0 calories or show incorrect macros. This happens almost daily and makes food tracking much more cumbersome than it should be. I regret signing up for a one-year membership. Once my subscription expires, I will switching to another app.

### 1/5 — PLEASE FIX ASAP

*2026-08-10, version 23.12.1*

Recently the AI tracker has stopped working. It will provide all the correct nutrition info on the AI page, but it shows up on my actual log incorrectly. One went from 990 calories to 431. Tried again and it only logged 1 calorie. I pay $100 a year for this service. I need it to work.

### 1/5 — Buggy to the point of unusable

*2026-08-10, version 23.12.0*

I used to love this app. It has been helping me for years. Unfortunately, since the introduction of AI, it has become more and more buggy to the point where I can’t use the most basic features. Super frustrating!!!

### 1/5 — .

*2026-08-06, version 23.12.0*

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2026-08-04, version 23.12.0*

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — JP

*2026-08-27, version 23.12.1*

App is amazing the only thing that I change is too many reminders to upgrade this app but is very friendly and I totally recommend it

### 5/5 — Great for calorie/water tracking

*2026-08-23, version 23.12.1*

I really like how the app is very easy to use. It has many features to help you track calories. Plus more features that I haven’t used like the recipe ideas. I also like how you can keep track of how much water I drink each day. It really helps me to see how well I’m doing and to be mindful of not eating empty calories.

*2026-08-08, version 23.12.0*

### 5/5 — Free great app

*2026-08-07, version 23.12.0*

Amazing app help me diet

*2026-07-23, version 23.11.0*

### 5/5 — Great tracking app!!

*2026-07-11, version 23.11.0*

Easy to use!!

### 5/5 — Love the app but…

*2026-07-05, version 23.11.0*

When I make a meal or recipe it asks for the amount of servings and the thing is I never know. It changes day to day depending on how much I want to eat and I rather it calculate the amount of ounces in the full pot and let me do my input with ounces instead of the servings . Throws off my macro calculations too

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2026-07-03, version 23.10.0*

Easy to record and review data, and gathers data from my Apple Watch seamlessly.

### 5/5 — Fab App

*2026-06-29, version 23.10.0*

Loving this app! So easy to use and the barcode option covers food from England and Norway which is perfect for me. It’s worked a dream so far and I have lost 1 stone already - bang on time. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Pretty good for a free app

*2026-06-25, version 23.10.0*

It’s nice for being free and it’s easy to track calories now. The recipes aren’t free though which is a bummer but understandable
