## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Does not work at all

*2026-08-14*

Tried to upload a plan; after half an hour fiddling with AI, I still only got “Invalid format” as a message. Literally could find no way to add exercises either; no “+” button or similar anywhere.

**Developer response:** I'm sorry you're having difficulties! The AI planner can be a bit tricky, but I can assure you there are ways to edit plans manually. Simply go into Manage Plans -> Select your Plan -> Select your Workout -> Add Exercise

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2025-09-14, version 3.4.1*

Add a workout and try and change the name and the app freezes. If you want to use the preloaded apps then fine but if you wanna customise then it is unusable.

### 2/5 — Stopped working all the sudden

*2025-01-14*

I was using it and wanted to like it since I love FOSS projects , but suddenly when i open it the app its just a blank screen with the liftlog icon in the middle. I tried reinstalling. IPhone 11 Promax, OS 16.3.1.

**Developer response:** Hi I'm sorry about this. I have just published a new version which should no longer have this issue

### 3/5 — Won’t open- iPhone 12

*2024-12-11*

I love that you made this! As I try to open, I just get a blank white screen that says “Lift Log” and does nothing.

**Developer response:** Hi I'm sorry about this. I have just published a new version which should no longer have this issue

### 4/5 — good app

*2025-08-26, version 3.2.0*

i’ve been using this app for around a year now and don’t really have any complaints. it’s easy and simple to use, and it’s decent at recording my workouts.

the only issue i have with the app is that you can’t modify the amount of reps you’ve done for each independent set of an exercise.

### 4/5 — Great Gym Logger! One small tweak needed

*2025-07-11*

I love everything about this app in that it’s simple to use! However I do have one thing that I found to be what it’s missing to really make it perfect, and it’s the fact that there’s no option to set a preset rep range for your sets (eg. working set of 10-12). Alongside the fact that you can’t tweak each individual set to have a certain rep range goal. If these were added into the app, it would elevate it by so much. Until then, this will sit at a 4 star for me

### 4/5 — Thanks for sharing

*2024-11-19*

I don’t know why every workout I do is called “Session 1”

The way you input reps confuses me. This is the main reason I switched to another app.

### 4/5 — Straightforward and does what it says.

*2024-11-18*

Great open source option without big upsells constantly. Pro features are currently not working though, with a server error being reported. Everything else is great.

**Developer response:** Thanks for letting me know! I have fixed the server issue in a recent update

### 4/5 — Thanks for sharing

### 5/5 — Amazing workout tracking app

*2025-10-27*

Works great for tracking lifts, very simple and easy to use. A great open source project!

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Well Done

*2025-09-28, version 3.4.3*

I was frustrated with other apps as they were not intuitive, bloated, or hid vital features behind a paywall. I thought of writing my own app, but found that LiftLog is exactly what I had envisioned: a minimalist app to track my progress.

### 5/5 — Ottima app intuitiva

*2025-08-13, version 2.30.4*

Ottima app per tracciare i progressi in palestra, molto personalizzabile ma intuitiva

### 5/5 — Effective & simple

*2025-06-25*

This free app puts the paid ones to shame in terms of privacy. I love that the app gets you working fast and keeps the interface simple.

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2025-06-20, version 2.30.4*

Has everything I need, data is secure, and it’s easy to use and intuitive. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Simple, Effective, Excellent

*2025-04-24*

Open source and free with tons of features that would be hidden behind paywalls in other apps. This app has been a huge help in my fitness journey. Being able to sort by exercises and workout dates makes it easy for me to know what I’ve done in the past and push myself towards progressive overload.

### 5/5 — The Best Gym Tracker

*2025-02-22*

If you are able to write your own workouts, this is all around the best app available. The rest feature, stats, and history are all better than every other free app! I just wish you could import a workout routine as a json.

### 5/5 — Perfect app

*2025-02-16, version 2.27.0*

Love it

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-01-25, version 2.27.0*

Would be cool if we could share statistics as well but the app is intuitive and works well.

### 5/5 — Very good free app

*2024-12-17, version 2.23.0*

This app contains all I need and nothing more.
