Great app, lifetime subscription but everything you need including progression is free. The subscriptions are just to support the dev

### 5/5 — Awesome customizable app

*2026-03-28, version 6.39*

This thing is a game changer for me with the progressive overload and cool script language it comes with. The MCP too l with Claude makes it super easy for programming workout plans

*2026-02-13*

### 5/5 — Unlike anything else

*2026-02-10*

Instead of making your workout match your app, Liftosaur gives the ability to make the app match your workout. It is technical, for sure. Takes some tweaking to get the hang of it - but once it is dialed in, it’s amazing!

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-02-04, version 6.31*

After the latest update that added watch support, this is a must have app for all that love to track their gym progress. I recommend this to all my gym partners

### 5/5 — Great Tool for lifting!

*2026-01-28*

I’m a beginner lifter and this has helped me keep great track of workouts and progress. If you’re a beginner lifter looking for something to help keep you on the rails. Definitely download it. Comes with different routines based on goals and skill level.

### 5/5 — An App that makes lifting easier

*2026-01-22, version 6.30*

When lifting is easier, I lift more. I lift more, I become fitter. I fitter, life good-er. Good app.

### 5/5 — Look no further!

*2026-01-10*

As an experienced lifter, this is by FAR the best app to write and track workouts in. I’ve been using the free version for months now, and have bought a year subscription and considering lifetime because it’s that good! Great support and constant upgrades are being made too!! Try it - you won’t regret it!

### 5/5 — January 5 great

*2026-01-05, version 6.30*

App is awesome. Programming features are the best.

### 5/5 — Worth it

*2025-12-05*

One workout and already bought a lifetime subscription. Markdown workouts and a huge library of exercises. Totally worth the money if you’re coming from another app or notes app tracking.

Also, having the ability to purchase a lifetime subscription is amazing - other apps forcing you into a monthly charge is ridiculous and I will always support a dev who makes open source software.

### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2025-11-24, version 6.28*

The market is saturated with workout apps, this one stands out in its level of customisation and ability to track progress. While there are plenty of workout templates, the ability to customise your own including exercise, sets, reps, rest, progression etc. isn’t something you see in the vast majority of others. The UI could do with a polish but that’s just me being picky and subjective. Five star app!

### 5/5 — Flexible, Great Pricing, & Support

*2025-11-05*

I’ve tried multiple workout trackers over the years but this app has been the best. As some reviews point out, it takes a bit of patience to learn but it is well worth the small investment of time. Moreover, it’s one of the few apps that includes a lifetime purchase model in an era defined by an over reliance on subscription models. Finally, the developer is constantly improving the app in great ways. This app deserves far more attention than it is given.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Frequent black screens

*2026-05-12, version 6.41*

Vibecoded app, crashes randomly when editing workouts. Works okay when it works.

### 2/5 — Can’t change from CABLE to BARBELL

*2024-03-21*

Since the last update I can’t change the equipment.
It’s always cable, even if I create a new exercise that has barbell as default. It turn into cable 😬

**Developer response:** Hey, could you shoot me an email to info@liftosaur.com with the details about the issue? I'd love to fix it!

### 3/5 — Too many updates!

*2026-02-16*

I have used this app consistently for three years. It’s actually a really good app. However the issue is the developer is constantly updating the app like it feels like once a week so it crashes often. Now it wants to sync with my iphone health app which I approved it for. But it won’t sync and has to tell me it can’t sync multiple times while I am working out. I wish the developer would just leave the app alone. None of the improvements have helped anything. The app was perfect three years ago!

**Developer response:** Hey, sorry about that! I would love to help fixing the health app syncing issue. Could you send me email to info@liftosaur.com?

### 3/5 — Changes to program aren’t saving

*2025-06-19*

Very cool app, super flexible, it I’m running into issues with saving changes I’ve made to my current workout. I changed my warm-ups from percentages to hardcoded weights and save them but the next day the warm-ups were back to percentage. Also, why does it throw an error when I want to have a different warm-up for squats on week two versus week one. Since my second week is heavier, I was wanting to program in an additional warm-up set. Otherwise, I’ve loved the app and the programming ability so far. Keep it going.

**Developer response:** Hey, could you please send an email to info@liftosaur.com with the details of the error? Want to see why warmups are not being saved. Thanks!

### 3/5 — Got its issues

*2025-02-23*

Couple weeks into using this app while taking a look at other options such as StrengthLogs and Boostcamp.

I like the idea of a lifting app for coders, but the ease of use in the other two apps listed above is just so much more convenient for things as simple as adjusting the amount of weight/reps you did for a specific exercise during a workout.

The fact that they have a dark mode and this app still doesn’t is also another thing thing that made me switch over.

The nail in the coffin was at random times, the app refuses to load and will remain stuff on the startup screen with wifi, without wifi, etc. until I delete the app and reinstall it which became really annoying to have to do when I’m already at the gym expecting it to work as intended.

Overall it is promising but not for me.

**Developer response:** Hey! Could you send me your user id (from Me -> Account) to info@liftosaur.com?
I'm curious about the app refusing to load - that's something I'd really want to fix...

### 3/5 — Nope

*2025-01-12*

Its just the same other workout apps can do, but with a crappy UI

### 3/5 — Greedy

*2024-05-18, version 6.7*

New update put graphs behind paywall when it was free a week ago

### 3/5 — It’s OK

*2024-04-07, version 6.6*

I like that it adds warm-ups set automatically, but it’s really frustrating when it pulls my reps and weight from a different day when you’re doing same out with different reps and weight on different days

### 4/5 — Mostly solid but lacks some features I’d like

*2026-07-24*

I like a lot of the things this app tries to do. The main downside right now is that there is no way to create an ad hoc workout from a past workout, and there is no way to save a past training day to an existing program. Also the Apple Watch notifications are bugged and the sound always plays no matter what which is annoying enough for me to not use it.

### 5/5 — Very powerful app

*2026-08-15*

Packed with features for the free version, this app is excellent and made me enjoy going to the gym a lot more. Although there is a bit of a learning curve, it's worth learning to be able to utilize the app. Will use this for as long as I can

## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Extremely useful

*2026-08-02, version 7.7*

For those self coaching and using available spreadsheets this is invaluable, being able to add any sheet I want by showing codex and having it write it directly into liftosaur, and then adjust as needed and compare against other things I’ve done etc is great, not to mention the ease of logging my sets any way they need to be whilst working out in the app!

### 5/5 — Great app, open platform = great AI

*2026-06-30, version 7.5*

Great app. Really appreciating the bring-your-own ai integration. Little things like being able to set up all the dumbbell weights in the gym by taking pictures of the 3 racks of weights and then asking Claude to update the weights in liftosaur via its mcp server in 5 seconds is just the sort of integration that makes liftosaur so great

### 5/5 — So good

*2026-06-28, version 7.5*

Best app I’ve ever used for anything ever. The dev is on Reddit as well and he fixes everyone’s problems almost instantly it’s great to see.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-06-21, version 7.4*

The Claude MCP is a killer feature, and it’s very fairly priced compared to other workout apps! Love it

### 5/5 — It’s does the math for you, you can focus on the muscle

*2026-05-11*

Computer good, make lift easy. Easy lift make muscle strong. Strong muscle make me happy and healthy. Me happy and healthy become better me. Other people Me love and respect benefit from me becoming better me. App good.

### 5/5 — Best Workout App Ever, Amazing Features & Incredible Developer Support!

*2026-05-07*

I can confidently say that Liftosaur is the best workout app I’ve ever used! The features are amazing, and the lifetime subscription is such an incredible value compared to other fitness apps.

I’ve already recommended it to my friends and family because it has completely improved the way I track and plan my workouts. What really makes Liftosaur stand out, though, is the developer and creator, Anton. He is extremely responsive and genuinely listens to user feedback.

I had an issue where the app wasn’t working on my older Apple Watch model, and after I contacted him, he fixed the problem right away. Now everything works perfectly! It’s rare to find a developer who cares so much about the user experience and acts so quickly.

Hands down greatest workout app ever. Thank you, Liftosaur! 💪🦖

### 5/5 — Good ui, good support

*2026-04-08*

Found Liftosaur looking for alternatives to Boostcamp because I didn't want to have to manage adjustments. Easy to set up, and every time I've had an issue it's has been user error but the dev has been responsive, friendly and helpful.

### 5/5 — Exceptional workout app

*2026-04-07, version 6.40*

After all the apps I’ve used to track my workouts, this runs laps around them all. Liftoscript is game changer

### 5/5 — The best.

*2026-04-04*

That’s it. There is a learning curve, but once you get the hang of it”liftoscript” (and there are ample resources, plus the dev is very active and accessible.) it is hands down my favorite app out there. It works for 5/3/1, GZCL, and easily many, if not all of the autoregulated bodybuilding programs out there. I barely scratched the surface.
