Would give it 5 stars if there were more colour options! Great work! :) ### 4/5 — Fun and Straightforward *2017-10-11* This app is a lot of fun, and fills a niche I don’t think any other apps offer. It’s a lot of fun to play along to your music and record light shows for your favorite songs. Improvements I could see would definitely include some additional UI refinements to make it a little easier to reach everything on the Plus series phones, as well as minor styling improvements. It would also be nice to be able to record tracks without musical backing (in case you want to accompany, say, a video or presentation.) I hope the developer can partner with Philips regarding Hue Entertainment, as that would significantly improve the performance (although it’s already very good considering what it’s attempting to do.) **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. I'm planning for a big 2.0 update at the end of the year, including Philips Hue Entertainment, along with major UI updates. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Crashes *2021-04-13* Crashes when you try to search a song on Apple Music. ### 1/5 — App makes no sense *2018-12-14* UI is horrible. Hard to tell what the app is used for. It wants access to mic so I assumed it listened on mic to create a light show. Nope. It allows me to search for music so I assumed it played music and put on a light show. Nope. I've got buttons that look like barbells but have no idea what they are for. So confusing. **Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback. This app is a new concept and I plan on expanding it with more help documentation soon. The app is used for _recording_ light tracks in sync with your music library. The app doesn't automatically create the show; you do by tapping along on the buttons as the music plays. The barbell looking button is a combo button. When you hold it down and repeatedly tap one of the note keys, it will repeat the same effect on the last light played, otherwise it will select a light at random. The app shouldn't interact with the mic at all; that should have been fixed in a recent version. ### 1/5 — DJ STUDIO *2018-04-25* been trying to get it to work, not worth your time don’t even download no stars not even one ### 1/5 — App closes *2017-12-28* Asks to authorize access to Apple Music library and then closes app....every time... please fix ### 1/5 — Won’t work *2017-12-26* Just keeps shutting my hue lights off. ### 2/5 — Works ok *2018-12-10* Won’t read your music file unfortunately. You have to manually tap to create your own light show. I wish it read your Apple Music library and you could record your light show but for some reason when you search for a song it pulls them from who knows where. I search for Eric Prydz in my library and it pulls Meek (whoever the heck that is). **Developer response:** Not sure why it's not finding your song. FYI, iOS limits your music library to Apple Music or your non-DRM local library, but not both. Also if you subscribe to any iTunes cloud-based services like iTunes Match that can also affect the app's ability to read the library. Feel free to email me at kevin@nrthrnlights.com if you're still having issues and want to get the app working. ### 3/5 — Im Ansatz gut, aber noch viel Potential nach oben! *2020-05-17* Ich suche schon seit Längerem nach einer solchen App, mit der man eine Lichtshow zu einem bestimmten Track aufnehmen kann. Grundlegend ist die App also gut, jedoch fehlt mir die Möglichkeit einzelne Lampen gezielt auszuwählen. Auch die Auswahl an Effekten ist noch ausbaufähig. Ich finde es gut, dass man die gespeicherten Sets mit der Community teilen kann. Bleibt abzuwarten, wie sich die App entwickelt. Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass man irgendwann auch Lichtprogrammierungen zu einem kompletten Film erstellen, teilen und laden kann. ### 3/5 — Thanks *2018-09-30* Thanks for creating this community. I just got a bunch of Hue lights and have had fun recording lightshows to go with my music. Songs einen festen Lichtablauf zu geben ist das Smart-Home Profilevel. Allerdings habe ich schon dermaßen viel Zeit verplempert weil bei der unnötig aufwendigen Bedienung oft ein oder zwei oder drei Fehler passieren und man den kompletten Titel nochmal von neuem machen muss. Ich weiß auch nicht wieso man bei den "Wellen" "Feuerwerk" und diese Abläufe bei einem Farbwechsel, erst eine andere Farbe und dann nochmal einen der Abläufe wählen muss. Etwas umständlich. Und eine pro App ohne die Umstände würde sich der ein oder andere sicher richtig was kosten lassen.
