### 5/5 — Best light meter

*2016-09-05*

I am using Hasselblad and Mamiya cameras and find the Light Meter Wheel app to be the best in terms of readability for EV and other exposure settings.

### 5/5 — Absolutely Perfect

*2016-06-23*

Could not be happier. Beautifilly designed and implemented with real-time exposure updates. As accurate but more convenient than my pro meter.

### 5/5 — Great

*2016-03-29*

The best exposure app I have used and the best looking, would love to have a version with zones instead of exposure compensation

### 5/5 — Perfect for digital, film, and pinhole!

*2016-02-27*

Great app, does all as advertised. I really like the simplicity and a lack of arbitrary limits to shutter speeds or apertures. No more getting a reading and then calculating beyond meter limits. Great for long exposures, and great for pinhole photography too as tiny apertures are supported too (all the way down to f/1024). Thanks for a great simple powerful app!

### 5/5 — Excellent - look no further

*2015-10-19*

Simply the best exposure meter app there is. Simple, accurate and very easy to use.

### 5/5 — Just the very thing I needed!

*2015-08-23*

As a user of old cameras, toy cameras and pinholes, having to carry a light meter around was a bit of a chore, especially when you had to do maths in your head because the meter did not cover your pinholes f-number.
But now I don't have to!
Simple interface, covers everything. Perfect.

### 5/5 — Great app!

*2015-08-10*

Getting back into film with an old rangefinder - this is the best light meter app I've found, very easy to use and spot on!

### 5/5 — I'm pimping this app

*2015-07-05*

I've deleted all my light meter apps but, this one I'm keeping

### 5/5 — 好极了

*2015-05-25*

界面非常好看，也很直观，但图片展示的入射功能真的能实现么？那个入射罩在哪买？

### 5/5 — Best iPad meter I have used!

*2015-03-18*

I love this app. It is accurate and when needed for some situations, like shooting on snow, the meter can be biased to account for that condition. Used in conjunction with a gray card this is super handy, also you can see all the exposure combinations to aid in the decision making process.

### 5/5 — Light Meter Wheel accurate and easy to use

*2015-03-16*

Tried several meter apps. This one is the clearest and easiest to use. When compared to my Sony NEX 6 exposure readings are spot on!

### 5/5 — Best Light Meter App

*2015-03-01*

Hands down the best light meter app currently available. Especially the volume button control ist just great. Of course it does not come close to the accuracy of a real light meter like a Kenko KFM but it's good for a first guess.

### 5/5 — Perfect!

*2015-02-27*

This is just the app I have been looking for! This app is perfect for teaching people the concept of and relationship between exposure, ISO, aperture and shutter speed. As a training aid it will prove invaluable! I have also downloaded David's free iPhone app which is a less sophisticated but far prettier version of this one. Thanks for both your apps David. Easily the best light meter apps available on iOS. I will be in touch to ask your permission to use them as training aids in my Newsstand magazine. Cheers.

### 5/5 — Detailed and professional low cost option

*2015-01-29*

This is an awesome option for anyone looking for a Light Meter it is very accurate when compared side-by-side with a $300+ option. Great work

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Camera issue

*2019-10-18*

This app hasn’t been updated in three years. The camera lens won’t view forward. Only views in selfie direction mode. Useless.

### 1/5 — Gros problème de mise à jour

*2015-09-20*

Sûrement la meilleure application du genre mais ne fonctionne plus sur iphone 4 et ios 7.
Très déçu car je l'utilisais régulièrement.

### 3/5 — Good but…

*2025-03-20, version 1.1.11*

Help is confusing and also Volume + and volume - have functions switched. Report a problem from app does not work either.

### 3/5 — Mmmm

*2018-07-07*

Not sure about this app, I like the idea and layout but I just can’t increase the volume so I removed it.

### 4/5 — Great look, great feel, accurate!!!

*2018-08-12*

Tested this during some late exposures. It works and works well! My only issue is one of my ND filters is 10 stops and this only compensates up to 5 stops up or down, so still have some guess work on my part. But still, it works!

### 4/5 — Some parts don't work

*2016-09-14*

It does its job but the option to put your own image into the centre doesn't work.

### 4/5 — Super!

*2014-07-08*

### 5/5 — Simple, fast

*2021-06-21*

Simple, fast and just works. I have looked for an app that shows me all possible exposures at the same time and is really simple. Which this one does and is.

### 5/5 — Essential for blackmagic!!

*2019-03-25*

Have used Both apps from developer with much success. The spot metering is extraordinarily powerful when shooting video as it protects the highlights. It is very accurate and convenient. Criminally cheap!

## Most praised reviews (8 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-12-01*

I find this app to be very intuitive, I also find it to be very close in accuracy to my Sekonic L398! I have used it with my Mamiya C330 and RB67 the result have been spot on!

### 5/5 — Great light meter

*2018-11-06*

This app works perfectly for me and is accurate when compared with my DSLR. I use it for measuring reflected light and it works great.
Easy to use with good hold function. The image preview and hold is brilliant because it gives you an idea of what your exposure will look like. Highly recommend app that I have been using for more than a year.

### 5/5 — Best lightmeter for analog fans

*2018-10-06*

Although not perfect, it’s still the best app for my needs. I wish it would load the previous settings at restart and not the defaults.

### 5/5 — Perfection for my 4x5 film!

*2018-02-22*

I was so grateful to find this particular light meter for natural light photography. My “professional fancy” lightmeter seems not to work as well (consistently) as this iOS app does on my iPhone SE. It is not meant to register settings for flash, but works well with spots and other continuous lighting. I take samples all around in contrasty situations and make an educated guess for averaging the exposure. I wish it worked on my iPad as well, but, C'est la vie!

### 5/5 — Fantastic Meter

*2017-05-08*

If you want an accurate meter with you at all times but don't want to carry one with you or if you forgot yours at home then this is the app you want. Readings are quite accurate, they have never let me down. Only thing G I wish it had was a Spot reading option. It's well worth what I paid.

### 5/5 — Simple & Superb

*2017-02-26*

I have to say i was a bit dubious paying £1.99 for this app as you never know quite how they are going to work. Ive bought apps before with annoying adverts this has none
This app is soo simple to use and i love the interface. Its worth every penny

### 5/5 — WOW, this is the best meter on the entire iOS store

*2017-02-21*

So I tried out a bunch of free lightmeters and they had terrible interfaces, were plagued with ads and were slow to boot.

Then this one came along.

It loads super fast, goes from opening to working with a proper reading in 3 seconds flat. And this is on my super old iphone 5s. Goes from lock screen to reading in about half a second.

Its so damn accurate. Tested it against my digital camera, nailed the exposure every time.

It operates in lower light than the newest DSLRs. The d750 goes down to -2.75EV, this one goes to -4.0EV (which is basically blackness).

The UI IS AMAZING. The person who made this is clearly a photographer because it works so well. Smooth and responsive. Controls are simple, no extra fluff and the design is nice an modern.

The only issues I have with it is that it is apperature priority only. You set the apperature and then the shutter speed adjusts. And its a little hard on my small screen to adjust the exposure compensation. But those are super minor and everything else is perfect.

It's a shame this gem is buried in the app store. So worth the 2 bucks.
