### 1/5 — Useless in automatic vehicles

*2025-04-15, version 3.24*

Keep on being told to ‘go steady’, ‘warning issued’ and ‘penalty recurved’ when on an otherwise flat straight motorway because I may choose to drive at 60mph and my vehicle wants to be in 6th gear. Lightfoot on the other hand wants to be in 7th and I get the aforementioned warnings incessantly sounding to the point where I wish I could just rip the piece of proverbial off the windscreen and dump it in the hardshoulder where it belongs. If I go with the Lightfoot recommendation in this scenario, the MPG on the trip computer reduces and the engine feels like it is labouring as I’m having to put my foot down more to maintain the chosen speed- so much for having a lightfoot.

It’s an annoying gimmick that unfortunately transport managers have been suckered into by the marketing hype. In the real world it’s a distracting nuisance and I just wish I could shut the audible nagging off completely - instead. Maybe a bit of epoxy in the speaker might help.

As for the so called prizes; you’d be lucky to win £2 yet alone a £100 or any of the other prizes. The product is a con and I can’t wait till the day comes where either the company goes under or the transport managers come to their senses and bin these devices :-)

I’d happily remove it and put it under the front wheel of my vehicle and put the gearbox into DRIVE…

### 1/5 — Private leagues

*2025-02-26, version 3.23*

Can’t add more than one person to a private league. App gets stuck after you put in a second email to invite someone and doesn’t do anything

### 1/5 — Review

*2025-02-20, version 3.23*

Dangerous as encouraging slow entry to motorways and dual carriageways. Led and annoying voiceover a distraction. How do you disconnect that attachment.

### 1/5 — Why why why

*2025-01-24, version 3.22*

As a driving instructor, I think this gadget needs a lot more thought.

1. You get penalised for running the engine as you deice, or making sure all the windows are clear.

2. You get penalised If you are stuck in traffic. I suppose I could turn the engine off and get cold, then the window will fog up, and now it’s not safe to drive.

3. The voice and lights are a distraction, and annoying.

4. It flashes and talks to you, as you are merging on a busy slip road. Did I mention distracting.

5. It needs volume control on the voice.

6. It needs a more realistic approach to driving.

I’ve only had it a week, thinking of covering the lights, muffling the sound and deleting the app.

### 1/5 — Biggest pile of ****

*2025-01-06, version 3.22*

It’s dangerous and an excuse for employers to point fingers at you. You say elite is 85% but what happens when your employer wants you at 95%. As mine do. You touch the pedal to enter a roundabout or motorway and you get knock down the points. They are constantly messing with the van’s electrics. Never get calibrated. Yet get told they can be calibrated online which makes no sense. Would rather a tracker fitted than this ****. Didn’t need a lightfoot to pass my test so why now. 🫡

### 1/5 — Downright Dangerous.

*2024-11-12, version 3.21*

I cannot believe this is actually legal. This thing is ridiculous and frankly, dangerous. It's impossible to safely accelerate to a sensible speed when crossing or joining a dual carriageway, entering a roundabout, or accelerating on a motorway slip road, without hitting the orange or red lights and getting a warning. Even increasing my vans speed from 50 to 51mph with the cruise control, on a flat road, will bring on 2 or 3 green lights, go from 50-55mph and you’re almost in the red! I've read the developer replies, and it seems they've made 100% unachievable, which is ludicrous.

**Developer response:** Hi, Lightfoot is there to act as a guide to help you drive more efficiently. There will be times where you need to drive less efficiently for meet the conditions of the road – e.g. rapidly accelerating to join a motorway. This is why the Elite Driver target is set at 85%, allowing efficiency and safety to be prioritised accordingly. Lightfoot has been thoroughly tested before being approved for installation in vehicles, and is both legal and safe, it can just take some getting used to as you learn to adjust your driving style.

### 1/5 — Password incorrect

*2024-08-01, version 3.20*

Most times I open the app it tells me I’m using the incorrect password even though it’s save in the password chain on my iPhone so I don’t know why it’s doing that. works fine for a while then oops wrong password. Maybe the programmer need to look at this.

### 1/5 — Rubbish

*2024-07-10, version 3.20*

After I had somehow ejected from the software I had to request a new code to join the fleet… Couple of times… Can’t login back! Awful experience with Lightfoot!!

### 1/5 — Poor

*2024-07-06, version 3.20*

As soon as you touch the pedal you get a penalty try and build speed up slowly on a round about or joining the motorway and your probably gonna get smashed to pieces awful design

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2024-05-21, version 3.20*

Cannot slightly to join a motorway or use cruise control. Makes you a poorer driver.

### 1/5 — No competitions!

*2024-04-09, version 3.19*

All of a sudden the competitions tab states nothing to show here. So unable to see or enter any. Same on online site. No way to contact or report fault.

### 1/5 — Flawed design, will not improve mpg.

*2024-03-10, version 3.19*

The Lightfoot system promotes the idea that accelerating slowly is the most fuel efficient way of driving.
In reality a combustion engine is at its most efficient when running at a certain RPM, the reason engines have gearboxes is to help maintain this RPM. Accelerating slowly as guided increases the time the engine spends outside its optimum range reducing the overall fuel efficiency. Costing you more over all not less.

### 1/5 — Awful

*2024-01-25, version 3.19*

This tech is the worst thing to have happened to my place of work, loved working there before we got lightfoot.i score 99.7 on average each and every week yet i am getting it in the ear almost daily about cornering events, braking events AND acceleration events even though i don’t even go into the red light ever.i can understand being pulled for cornering events but when my DM shows me where i am “going wrong” im just driving down a country road, going round a Massive roundabout at 25mph or going round a corner “too fast” because i need to keep my speed up because there is a steep hill coming.the lads at work usually give me grief because they know i drive like a nanna and we are all getting scrutinised at least once week.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Use lighfoot daily but can’t register

*2026-07-29, version 3.33*

Tried numerous times to register on the app, deleted it, downloaded multiple times over the course of two months, and quite simply the complete registration button does not work

### 1/5 — Causes anxiety and distracting

*2025-12-17, version 3.32*

If you have an interview ask them do they have Lightfoot in the vans if they do RUN , I told my company, I go or the Lightfoot goes ,simple , and it went

### 1/5 — Useless

*2025-12-14, version 3.31*

Big brother watching when you let engine warm up to defrost in winter sending penalties

### 1/5 — Delivery driver of 20 years

*2025-12-04, version 3.31*

Dangerous you can’t pull out onto a fast main road without getting penalty points this system is all about saving fuel for company’s and absolutely not about road safety if anything it makes delivery vehicles drive dangerously

### 1/5 — Keeps telling me update available

*2025-12-01, version 3.31*

The app keeps telling me an update is available, but when I go to the App Store it’s not. Also this does not take into consideration the acceleration required to enter a national speed limit road from a minor road with a short onslip in busy traffic.

### 1/5 — Bemused

*2025-11-28, version 3.31*

World has officially gone mad if this is how driving is measured. Has a mind of its own. Gives you a warning for getting up to speed to safely join a motorway yet gives you 99% award for driving 20mph on a dual carriageway. Whoever markets this has got to be the salesperson of the year 😂😂😂😂

### 1/5 — Dangerous

*2025-11-28, version 3.31*

Lightfoot should be illegal. It promotes dangerous driving as others have already mentioned. Of course Lightfoot will never admit this because they’d go out of business. I wonder if Lightfoot directors have it installed…

### 1/5 — Useless and dangerous

*2025-04-23, version 3.25*

Can’t even take over a cyclist but you get nudged. Pulling out a junction takes forever to gain speed infuriates other drivers all just to get some lights green. Ridiculous

### 1/5 — Crude driver monitoring

*2025-04-23, version 3.25*

Awful. Picks up throttle parameters etc from the OBD port together with what I assume is an in built accelerometer to come up with a score. Has nothing to do with how well you drive.
Just unplug it from the OBD port and drive in a responsible fashion.

### 1/5 — Dangerous

*2025-04-22, version 3.25*

This is dangerous to say the lest.
This cannot be calibrated correctly, I drive mostly on country roads and need a full range of revs, you need to put your foot down when pulling out of junction, specially the ones on corners,so you don’t get hit from something coming round the corner. Not only that when pulling on to a dual carriageways, even articulated lorry’s pull out faster than I can without getting a penalty.
This hasn’t improved my driving.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Go Steady!!

*2024-11-17, version 3.21*

I love this device. It’s a great addition to my daily stresses. It gives the company I work for a pretty hefty discount on insurance for all the vans they have.

### 5/5 — Useless!!!

*2022-05-14, version 3.14.2*

You could say so much about Lightfoot but suffice to say the driving style this ridiculous app promotes is disgraceful, bordering on dangerous at times, the whole thing should be scrapped immediately!!!!

### 5/5 — What a great app

*2020-02-18, version 3.0.1*

The old app was good, but it was very slow. This new app loads a lot faster and blows all previous versions out of the water.

### 3/5 — Has its purpose

*2025-12-04, version 3.31*

I can really see its purpose, however it also has its faults and sometimes can become quite dangerous when, coming off a slip road onto a motorway for example.

### 3/5 — Annoying but could be way worse

*2025-10-14, version 3.26*

Lightfoot, in terms of black boxes are amazing as it doesn’t judge you for many things.

Although it is damn annoying. Like when I was revercing in the yard I got an idling penalty! Whilst moving! Additionally one of the main criticisms of lightfoot is it doesn’t work on slip roads. I don’t know if lightfoot has gps in it but I would think it does and if it does then it’s so damn easy to code it to calm itself on slip roads

One last thing, I utilise the cruise control often and if I turn up the speed it always says go steady. Lad I’m not even accelerating it, tell the van computer ffs. Unfortunately that’d be very hard to code so fair enough

One last thing. Which is why it’s not one star is that it seriously could’ve been a lot worse for us drivers, if this was a Hastings, ticker or insurethebox it would be proper 1984 and makes driving which is the hobby I enjoy, unenjoyable. Can you tell I hate black boxes? 🤣🤣🤣

### 3/5 — Mixed bag

*2025-08-13, version 3.26*

It’s ok when it’s working , great fun driving responsibility with the chance of winning prizes ( which I often do ) ..

### 3/5 — So so..

*2024-02-21, version 3.19*

So the app itself is a great idea! I get the whole joining carriageways can be annoying however I do find myself using carriageways and highways and still manage to achieve a score of around 90-94% weekly. The only grumble I have is at the moment when viewing results of winning a prize the app freezes before letting you know if you have won anything, currently been stuck for a week now and still awaiting to see the results..

### 3/5 — Lightfoot set up

*2022-09-17, version 3.16.0*

You stated in a comment previously about the Lightfoot responding differently to other vans that have the Lightfoot fitted but we have a fleet of van’s that are all the same spec and same year but they all respond differently to the next van which shouldn’t be the case one van you drive at 25 miles an hour and the voice is telling you to go steady but the next van as stated in a previous comment don’t say or respond to your driving. It’s like they have just been put in the vehicle’s and not set up correctly but it’s is very distracting when driving

### 3/5 — Cant nudge further

*2021-02-09, version 3.7*

When it asked you to nudge but you cant as you are alreay in top gear .. my van only has 6 gears as as you go down a hill it will tell you to nudge but you cant .. so you get a penalty .. tbh i think lightfoot is a waste of time.. i really dont see the point in it .. also it can be very distracting as your try no to go beyond the green lights... i do recommend keeping you eyes on the road but its very hard when you have somone shouting at you at basically telling you how to drive..

### 2/5 — Doesn’t update properly.

*2025-01-15, version 3.22*

Back down again, drove yesterday, still showing me data from 3 days ago.
