### 5/5 — Must have for film shooters

*2021-07-12*

This app has everything I wanted in a film logging app. It has all the options you could need without having too many options, keeping it professional without being overwhelming.
I was skeptical to pay without trying at first, but do to limited options I took the chance and am happy I did.

**Developer response:** Hi! This review made my day, thanks :)
I'm really happy you like it already, it's only going to get better (and I have some nice features planned already) 🙂
I hope you're enjoying it together with the lightmeter, the really shine when they work in tandem 😉

Have a nice day and some good light!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — *USER BEWARE* Subscription Required.

*2025-02-01*

The owner requires a minimum subscription of $4/mo or $13/year to even use the app.

Save your money and record everything the old fashioned way..pen/paper.

**Developer response:** Yep, it's clearly stated in the onboarding, it offers quite a lot for the price but no one is gonna force it upon you. A one-star review for just this reason is simply unfair.

Best regards

Giuseppe

### 2/5 — Good functionality but buggy and crashes

*2021-10-18*

It’s usable and handy but occasionally it just straight up crashes on startup and I can’t use it at all. Sort of defeats the purpose of logging anything if I can’t log all of a roll.

**Developer response:** Hey there, I'm sorry for the issues the app was giving at that time, I decided to temporarily take down the app in order to work on fixing and improving that.
Lightme - Logbook 2.0.0 fixes everything you rightfully complained about, I hope you can now enjoy it fully :)

I hope you have a nice 2022 and plenty of good light!

### 3/5 — Crash on launch

*2024-11-26*

App is no longer usable as it crashes on launch v2.3.11

Also developer’s website domain expired so you can’t submit support

**Developer response:** Hi! I've resolved both issues, there's a few ways to contact me there should be an email in the App Store page as well!

You can search for Lightme on Reddit/instagram, write at Lightme.apps@gmail.com next time :)

Hope you got the fix in the meantime! Stay tuned for more updates :)

Giuseppe

### 3/5 — Good idea, pretty buggy

*2021-10-04*

The idea and integration with Lightme are great. Using it is different. Unable to assign apertures to shots / app is prone to suddenly crashing. Would be great if it worked.

**Developer response:** Hey there! I'm currently working on a pretty big update with lots of fixes and new features.

I'd like to get more details on the aperture bug you're talking about, if you want to, write me an email (I could add you to the beta group too)

Thanks again for the support and patience :)

Have a nice day!

### 4/5 — Logbook

*2023-05-29*

Just a fwiw fyi - I love the light me meter app. This app is a brilliant idea. But. This app is not free. Download and you cannot use it without paying. I’m not saying it should be free. But it should be affordable. And people should know the price upfront. And maybe 30 days to try it without having to pay.

**Developer response:** Hi! Thank you for your feedback, I really appreciate it!

The app is offered on a paid subscription to enable me to keep maintaining and working on improving both the Logbook and Lightmeter app, I really don't want to abandon this project :/

The price is clearly stated in the app's onboarding procedure and a 7 day trial period is offered to every new user. I sometimes share offer codes for longer trial periods, try to reach out on ig if you feel like you need one :)

I feel like the price is fair, it's about a roll'a worth for one year. If you shoot often you can justify it easily, if you don't you could subscribe for only the months you actually shoot, anyway it will cost you less than pen and block notes (while being far more convenient).

Keep in mind you can share the subscription with your family, and you can access and export your data even without an active subscription.

Thanks again, I hope you have some good light!

### 5/5 — Perfect logbook

*2026-06-11*

Does everything I need it to and nothing that I don’t. Extremely easy to use and I love the query function. 10/10 worth every penny

### 5/5 — Best light meter app!

*2026-02-01*

I’ve tried them all. This app and its companion log book are the best solution for film photographers today. I’ve tested it repeatedly against my Sekonic and Minolta light meters and its amazingly accurate. No need to carry them with me any more!

### 5/5 — Loving the app

*2025-09-27*

This app (along with light meter) lets me enjoy film photography even more than I already did. It helps me slow down, log every shot and be very deliberate with the photos I’m taking. These 2 apps are a permanent companion to my photo walks and I couldn’t be happier with the results!

### 5/5 — Grateful this exists

*2025-06-09*

Really nice app! Highly recommend for people who shoot film.

Would be great to have some quicker interactions for changing exposure settings before logging a shot! I’m pretty sure the dev has said Apple Watch extension is in progress, but adding to the interactive widgets, or something using the Workouts API would also be wonderful.

Keep up the good work!

### 5/5 — My bread and butter

*2024-11-30*

Great app with thoughtful features. Giuseppe did not stop there.

As I encountered some crashes, I had to stop shotting film photos for a week as this app is the bread and butter in my workflows.
I talked to the app author got immediate response and my issue got fixed in mins.

Thank you!

### 5/5 — Definitiva

*2023-10-28, version 2.1.3*

### 5/5 — Records metadata to scans

*2023-07-15*

This is the most complete package I’ve seen.

My needs: I wanted to track metadata (GPS, Camera/Lens, Date, Time, ISO, Shutter, Aperture) as I took pictures on my film cameras. Then after receiving scans, apply that metadata so my pictures play nicely in the Photos App.

I was so surprised to see this app does it all! This removes the need for me to fumble around with exifTools to accomplish this.

This developer is my hero. Well worth the $12 a year this costs.

**Developer response:** Hi! I'm super happy you've found your companion for your film adventures :)

I'm gonna keep trying to make both apps better and more useful!

Have a great day!

Giuseppe

### 5/5 — Amazing addition

*2023-05-13, version 2.1.0*

Fantastic app and easy to use

### 5/5 — Perfect logbook

*2023-03-10, version 2.0.22*

Very well-implemented app for logging details of shots and keeping track of what’s loaded where, when films were loaded/developed, what camera/lens/settings were used for each shot, everything you could possibly need.

My only issue is that I’m terrible at logging and remembering to record details as I’m taking photos so I end up completely out of sync with what I’ve got going on, but that’s definitely a failing on my end and nothing to do with this excellent app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2022-07-05*

It’s well thought out for recording film info. It even has bellows compensation.

**Developer response:** Thanks a lot for the review! I hope you'll like the apps even more with the next updates :)
