## What is Lightmeter?

A real light meter when you carry film. A film camera when you don't.

The looks are built out of true RAW capture — grain, halation, and color that behave the way film behaves, rather than a filter sitting on top of a flat phone photo. The difference shows.

A shelf of stocks
Color negative, slide, and black and white, each tuned to its own tonality, contrast, and grain. A few are ours alone. Stocks swap from the viewfinder in a tap, favorites stay marked, and the shelf filters down to color or mono.

Focal lengths that mean something
24, 35, and 48mm on any iPhone. 85mm and your phone's true telephoto on Pro. The row clicks as it slides.

A darkroom, not a filter stack
Frames save to Photos with film, aperture, shutter, ISO, and focal length attached. Any frame reopens later onto a different stock, or gets cropped, straightened, inspected, or deleted — from the Lightmeter gallery or from Photos itself. Edits land in place, no duplicates, and the original is always one tap back. Several frames can be handled at once.

On your Home Screen
Widgets carry the loaded film to the Home and Lock Screen. With Plus, one shows your latest frame and another opens the camera in a single tap.

The meter
In meter mode Lightmeter reads reflected light for the camera already around your neck — ISO, clean shutter and aperture pairs.

Lightmeter Plus
The camera and the meter are free. Plus adds the full film-look library, RAW capture where the device supports it, darkroom borders, the camera and shutter widgets, and alternate app icons. Monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime purchase. Eligible new subscribers get seven days free; subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled.

Nothing leaves the phone
No account. No cloud. No upload. Your photos and camera feed never leave your iPhone.

New stocks and new features land often.

### 5/5 — Fun Fun Fun

*2026-09-23*

This app has made me shoot way more on my phone, and that’s all that matters.

**Developer response:** Precisely, that’s all that matters :)

### 4/5 — Fun and Easy

*2026-09-23*

As someone who shoots with a film camera, I absolutely love this app. The retro film simulations have a really beautiful look, especially giving something like a Kodachrome style tones and the Ilford 400 inspired bnw effect. They give photos that classic film character.
The other feature I really like is the light meter. I use the app alongside my film camera to check the light and set my exposure, which makes it incredibly useful when shooting on film.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the wonderful feedback! I’m thrilled to hear that you're enjoying the retro film simulations and finding the light meter useful for your film photography. Happy shooting!

### 5/5 — Beautifully crafted app

*2026-09-22*

Simple, elegant, and the best part - everything stays locally. No tracking.

### 5/5 — not a review, ig

*2026-09-22*

this is my first app on app store, took some 60 odd days to reach here. thanks to all my friends and cute hoomans who have tested the app during beta and gave tons of feedback. lightmeter is 50% influenced by my intent, bias and conviction, and 50% influenced by the feedback and suggestions i received. without people testing this app, lightmeter would have been nothing 🌸

### 5/5 — Justified title

*2026-09-21*

All I wanna say is, I am not a person who is usually into clicking photos and documenting stuff, but this app made me do so willingly.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for the wonderful review! It is incredibly rewarding to hear that Lightmeter has inspired you to start capturing and documenting your moments. I’m thrilled to have you as the first Lightmeter Plus member!

## Version history (last 3 releases)

### 1.1.0 — 2026-09-29

Lightmeter now lives on your Home Screen and Lock Screen.

• Camera widget: your latest frame, right on your Home Screen. Tap it to go straight to the meter. (Lightmeter Plus)
• Shutter widget: one tap from your Home Screen to the camera. (Lightmeter Plus)
• Lock Screen widgets, redrawn: a new rectangular widget with your loaded film, a shutter-capsule circle, and a new camera circle whose viewfinder carries your latest frame for Plus members. The Control Center button has a new glyph too.
• A new shot now prints into the corner thumbnail like an instant photo.
• The viewfinder level gives a small haptic tap when the lines snap level.
• A new app icon picker, with a live preview that tilts in your hand.
• Film looks: fixed shadows crushing in some looks, and retuned two of our own stocks.
• A redesigned Plus sheet. If you're already a member, tap the card at the top of Settings to see everything your Plus includes.

Thank you for shooting with Lightmeter.

### 1.0.1 — 2026-09-21

Lightmeter is new here, and this is its first update. Thank you for
being one of the early ones.

The darkroom holds on to your work better now — a crop survives a
restyle, a film chosen by hand stays chosen while an iCloud original
loads, and a save keeps exactly what was on screen the moment Done was
tapped. Settings are simpler, and the Plus sheet reads cleaner:
monthly, yearly, lifetime, with the price stated once.

More film looks and a few new features are on the way. Thank you for
shooting with Lightmeter — it means a lot this early on.
