### 3/5 — Just major cities in Europe

*2016-12-13, version 3.6*

Only major cities in Europe. None in Asia. Pity.

### 3/5 — Almost love it

*2016-08-07, version 3.2.1*

Just started using the app in Madrid. So far I really like the off the beaten path suggestions, the thorough descriptions, and the ability to create lists. The location services are pretty inaccurate though which has been pretty frustrating as it would be nice to not have to use this in conjunction with other maps/apps.

### 4/5 — GREAT APP WITH AMAZING INFO

*2016-07-19, version 3.2.1*

I downloaded this app because of my trip to Copenhagen and it has tons of useful information provided by locals. And they have an offline option so you don't have to use your data. Definitely a great tool when traveling to new places!

### 3/5 — Great services, bad performance

*2016-07-07, version 3.1.11*

The app is fantastic itself- as in it has plenty of great suggestions for restaurants and sightseeing. However it crashes every 5 minutes which is super frustrating- hope they fix it.

### 3/5 — Only Big Cities

*2016-02-17, version 3.0.0*

I'm sure this is awesome for bigger cities around the world, but it seems odd that cities like Austin, Texas and Las Vegas, Nevada aren't included... I'm sure it'll happen, eventfully. It just doesn't help me much now/today.

### 4/5 — Needs map functionality

*2015-04-12, version 2.3.5*

The spots and app are great, but without seeing them on a map you can't tell how close they are to you

### 4/5 — Great App!

*2015-01-14, version 2.2.1*

This App lived up to my expectations and then some! I was only in Helsinki, Finland for a short time and this app came through to help me make the best of it! Thank you!

### 4/5 — N/A

*2013-09-19, version 2.0*

As an American traveling to Riga with only intermittent wifi connection, this app, which can be used offline, was invaluable. The recommendations for dining options off the tourist's path were well curated. My only criticisms are: 1) the restaurant choices did not include average prices; and 2) you could not restrict by neighborhood through the dining portal. More robust filters on dining and activities would be helpful for the offline consumer.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Extremely Glitchy

*2022-06-08, version 3.94.1*

I had hoped for this app, but to start, there are not many places or tips on it to be useful for a teen like me trying to find fun things to do in neighboring cities (especially here in California, I would think a lot of tips would have been uploaded and accessible).
Despite that, the app itself would not even load the tips for any of the given locations. I logged off and back on multiple times and then waited a day in between to try again. Same issue: I tap on a place and it will simply never load. Super cool idea, just wish the app actually carried that idea out:/

### 1/5 — Racist and Pathetic

*2019-07-09, version 3.94.1*

The developers allow a user to post that black people are somehow genetically predisposed to understanding fried chicken. When notified, the developers claim they have no control over what’s posted on THEIR app, and leaves it to users to police each other.

### 1/5 — Not Free

*2015-09-24, version 2.3.9*

You have to pay for guides for each city. Not free at all and a waste of time.

### 1/5 — Crashes like crazy

*2015-04-14, version 2.3.5*

App worked great in demo mode - as soon as I bought a city guide it no longer worked. Reloaded app and lost my guide - don't waste your money until they fix the bugs

### 1/5 — keeps crashing

*2015-03-07, version 2.3.2*

I paid for the Lisbon map and am unable to use it at all. It won't download and the app keeps crashing.
I was hopeful about this app... please fix it!

### 2/5 — Website is better.

*2018-01-29, version 3.71.0*

I actually do like the website and think it’s handy... but as far as the APP rating in itself, is much lower. I’m traveling to Mexico soon and there’s a limited list of cities on the app. I can find everything on the desktop website but not on the app. There’s only 68 cities worldwide on the app and when I explore, I can’t find a way back into the main menu so have to close the app on my phone and re-open to get to main menu. Still have to go to the website to find what I want though. The website in itself would be a much higher rating but...app is not recommended. Please update the app to include all cities in your main database! My home (the capitol of Texas) isn’t even on there, even though I’ve left multiple recommendations on the actual desktop website, trying to help others- thinking it would even show up on the app...but it doesn’t.

### 2/5 — Poor layout

*2016-09-16, version 3.2.4*

Okay traveling advice, but terrible layout. I wanted to read an article on their website, but to read all of it I had to download the app. Amazingly, there is no search feature. If I want to find a particular cafe, for example, I have to scroll through all restaurants listed in a given city. It appears that you're also limited in the number of cities you can view before paying...really not sure what they were thinking when they created this.

### 2/5 — Needs improvement

*2015-09-30, version 2.3.9*

The maps never worked even after I payed for the app, the tips are outdated and some of the places I went were closed. Some of the tips are good, some of them are really bad... So not a great app, I really wish I could say something different as it's always great to have local tips.

### 2/5 — App quit everytime

*2015-03-27, version 2.3.3*

Seems like a cool concept but not enough cities (don't even have big cities like Zurich or Venice) and app quit everytime I tried to access the actual city guide I downloaded. Luckily I didn't buy it, was just using the free trial. Needs work hopefully will eventually be useful.

### 3/5 — Great concept, but needs better curation

*2018-02-26, version 3.71.0*

I love the idea of local-submitted listings and offline use, but many listings in my own city, Disneyland and Universal Studios for example, don’t meet my criteria for “non-touristy”, so I don’t really trust the listings in other cities either. I downloaded the app because I wanted to feel like I was getting some insider knowledge when I travel, so it’s disappointing to see sites that are literally among the world’s top tourist attractions listed. Needs some kind of stronger criteria.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The Local Info

*2020-02-14, version 3.94.1*

I’ve used Like a Local in Madrid, Naples, Cagliari, Rome, London... in every case, I find something or someone interesting and amazing, off the tourist radar. I even made friends with a guide! Before I travel, I first plug in my city on this app. Love it!

### 5/5 — Every time I travel!

*2019-01-17, version 3.94.1*

This little app is powerful! It has great secret tips and free information on cities around the globe. I use it every time I travel. Budapest, Vienna, Prague, Ho Chi Minh are all worth it!

### 5/5 — 10/10 must have for backpackers and travelers

*2017-05-26, version 3.23*

Me and my girlfriend used this app during our month long trip across Europe. I cannot recommend it enough - it allowed us to find so many things we otherwise would not have. It truly lives up to its name for allowing you to explore a city and see the local things that most people won't get to see.

Best part is - almost none of it is behind a paywall. I barely know how they're making money!

### 5/5 — Amazing advices

*2016-08-11, version 3.2.1*

Night life in helsinki was pretty accurate. Love the advices!

### 5/5 — Great

*2016-06-02, version 3.1.8*

I used this app in Europe and now in NYC and I have to say the recommendations are priceless!!! Download this app !!!!!

### 5/5 — The best travel app, hands-down

*2015-08-22, version 2.3.9*

If you plan on traveling to

### 5/5 — Great app for traveling, esp Eastern Europe!

*2015-01-15, version 2.2.1*

Great app to find cool places to eat at that have local food, which is hard sometimes. Also has a lot of cities in Eastern Europe which is great!

### 5/5 — Great for on-the-fly tips

*2013-07-30, version 2.0*

We were travelling and wondering about cool spots in the Baltics to hang out in. The recommendations were very current and well-written and the app is easy to use and well thought out! Highly recommend!

### 4/5 — good but buggy

*2017-08-02, version 3.3.1*

great app but crashes when i click on "local experience" event

using it to go to brussels

[edit] tips
doesn't crash click local exp anymore
allow removing entries from the general list,... annoying to scroll everything
unable to [remove] an item from the lists page, can only do it by "unsaving" from the general list
allow marking something "done"

### 4/5 — Very useful, where it can be used

*2017-06-07, version 3.23*

This app helped me find all kinds of interesting places in Munich. On the other hand, Nurnburg isn't even on here. That pretty much sums it up--going to a major-major city? Totally awesome app. Going into the country or even a just-major city? Not helpful at all.
