## What is Lila?

A board of 72 squares and one die: you enter only on a 6, and on every square you land on, a Mirror gives you a reading tied to the one question you named before you rolled. Then it asks you one or two questions, and you answer in your own words.

Everything you write is kept in a private Journal you can open weeks or months later, when the same question lands differently. Your intentions and your answers never leave your iPhone.

Lila is the ancient game of self-knowledge, made private.

HOW A JOURNEY GOES
- Name the question, or the knot you are working through.
- Confirm you will look at it without masks.
- Roll. You enter the board only on a 6, the symbol of Birth.
- Move square by square through states of mind: virtues that lift you, shadows that pull you down.
- On every square, read the Mirror, answer its questions in your own words, and roll again.

Reaching the last square is the point. There is no score.

CHOOSE THE MIRROR'S VOICE
Gentle: supportive, honest, never flattering.
Unsparing: direct, unflinching, names what you avoid. Never cruel, never a diagnosis.
You pick the voice at the start of every journey, so the same board can be kind on one evening and blunt on another.

A JOURNAL THAT NEVER LOSES YOUR REFLECTION
Every journey is saved to your private Journal. Read back what you wrote months ago and see how the question has moved since. The Mirror's Thread, a quiet continuity digest, lets a new journey remember what an earlier one was working through, so the Mirror never feels amnesiac. Nothing leaves your phone to make that happen.

PRIVATE, ON YOUR PHONE
No account, no cloud, no tracking. Where your iPhone supports it, the Mirror personalizes a reading to the words you actually wrote, composed entirely on your iPhone and re-checked before you ever see it. Start a journey or open your Journal straight from Siri or Spotlight.

WHEN A JOURNEY CLOSES
At the close, the Mirror can gather the whole path you walked against the question you named: a longer Synthesis, for when you want a deeper reckoning than square by square (Lila Plus). You can also keep a Journey Keepsake, a quiet image of the path your token took across the board. By default it carries none of your words, so it stays a private marker of the journey rather than something to perform.

NOT THERAPY
Lila is a contemplative board game, not a substitute for professional support. If something feels heavier than a game can hold, please reach out to a real person.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4 — 2026-08-12

Version 1.4

The board becomes a painted plate.

The 72 squares now read bottom-up, the way the journey actually climbs — square 1 at the root, 72 at the crown — with every arrow and serpent drawn on the plate, and the road at hand traced in full so you can see exactly where a cast might carry you. Each plane of the board is washed in its own pigment, and the plate names the plane you are standing on.

Also in this version:
- Journal and Settings open on their content, without an empty band above.
- Privacy Policy and Terms of Use are now one tap away in Settings.
- One clear recommendation on the paywall, with the 7-day free trial spelled out in the annual plan's own line.
- Every screen — including the pause card — now scrolls when large accessibility text sizes need more room, so nothing is ever out of reach.

Everything still holds: 100% on your iPhone, no account, no cloud, no tracking. No streaks, no badges, no notifications. Composed on your iPhone, never sent anywhere. Still a contemplative game, never therapy.

### 1.3.1 — 2026-07-28

Version 1.3.1

A quiet typographic pass over the Mirror's voice.

Wherever the Mirror quotes your own words back to you, they now sit in English quotation marks. And a question you write keeps its own question mark, without collecting a stray period after it.

Small corrections — but they fall on almost every reading, and the page should be set as carefully as the words on it.

Everything still holds: 100% on your iPhone, no account, no cloud, no tracking. No streaks, no badges, no notifications. Composed on your iPhone, never sent anywhere. Still a contemplative game, never therapy.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-24

Version 1.3

A quieter, more crafted Lila.

The Mirror now speaks in a bespoke illuminated hand, and every reading opens with a gilded initial — set like a page from an illuminated manuscript.

Also in this version:
- Settings has been rebuilt in the night-board's own register, in place of the plain grey list.
- A hand-drawn illuminated emblem greets you at the start and in an empty Journal.
- The 7-day free trial on the annual plan is clear from the first glance, without moving the lifetime option.
- A calmer close to each reading, with the Continue button where you'd expect it.

Everything still holds: 100% on your iPhone, no account, no cloud, no tracking. No streaks, no badges, no notifications. Composed on your iPhone, never sent anywhere. Still a contemplative game, never therapy.

### 1.2 — 2026-07-13

Version 1.2

The Mirror now remembers. When you begin a new journey, it can recall the question you last walked with — one quiet line of continuity at the start of the path, composed on your iPhone. (Lila Plus)

Also in this version:
- The paywall now says plainly what Lila Plus holds — including the deeper closing Synthesis at the end of every journey.
- What belongs to Lila Plus is marked before you tap, never after.
- The voice controls in Settings and at the start of a journey now share Lila's own illuminated design.
- Clearer reading hierarchy in the Journal, and calmer scroll edges throughout.

Everything still holds: 100% on your iPhone, no account, no cloud, no tracking. No streaks, no badges, no notifications. Still a contemplative game, never therapy.

### 1.1 — 2026-07-12

Version 1.1

Two new ways to sit with a journey after it closes.

A Journey Keepsake. When a journey ends, you can save or share a quiet image of the path you walked — the board, and the route your token took across it. By default it carries none of your words. It's a private marker of the journey, not a post to perform.

Synthesis. At the close, the Mirror can now gather the whole path against the question you named — a longer, single reflection for when you want a deeper reckoning than square by square. (Lila Plus.)

Mirror's Thread. Your Journal now keeps a quiet continuity digest, so a new journey can remember what an earlier one was working through. The Mirror stops feeling amnesiac — and nothing leaves your phone to make that happen.

Also in this version:
- Open Lila from Siri or Spotlight with new App Shortcuts — start a journey or reach your Journal in one step.
- Refined typography across the Journal and Settings, for calmer reading.

Everything still holds: 100% on your iPhone, no account, no cloud, no tracking. No streaks, no badges, no notifications. Still a contemplative game, never therapy.
