### 5/5 — Very simple and useful.

*2026-02-18*

Again, really simple and cool with no ads or subscriptions. The app can restrict access to apps on your phone and unlock them for some limited time. Very useful when I just lock in for a few days before tests.

**Developer response:** Hey there! Thanks so much for your 5-star review! We're really happy you found us. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — This App Gave Me My Time Back

*2026-02-10*

After the first week of using it, it’s already saved me a lot of time away from social media. It’s a brilliant app that every entrepreneur and students should have to avoid distractions and stay focused on their goals. I used to spend hours on social media, now I’ve limited it to just 30 minutes a day. 👐🏼

**Developer response:** Awesome! We're so happy to hear that. Thanks so much for leaving your review and please don't hesitate to spread the word. Thanks! 👐

### 5/5 — Lovely effective app

*2026-01-19*

This has just enough friction to slow me down and is gradually changing my habits around apps that were draining my time. I was surprised how well it worked. I have Freedom too, which I currently use to block news sites most of the time across multiple devices, then I have Limit set to give me a total of an hour a day across WhatsApp, Pinterest and Instagram on my phone. At first I was running over every day but I’m much more conscious of my use now. Really nice simple UI too. Thank you!

**Developer response:** Hi there! That's so great to hear. We are so glad that you are finding focus with Limit and Freedom together. Please don't hesitate to spread the word about Limit! 🙌

### 4/5 — A true game-changer

*2026-01-09, version 1.0.2*

I’ve been using Limit since it released a little over a month ago, with the goal of reducing the amount of mindless time I spend scrolling social media. I’ve tried several screen time apps, and Limit has been the most simple and effective by far — I’ve cut my social media usage by at least 75% (no exaggeration), and the time that I do spend on it now is much more intentional and in shorter sessions. In a digital landscape flooded with algorithms specifically developed to prey upon my attention span and impulse control, I consider Limit to be an essential counterbalance — an invaluable wellness tool for modern life. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

The app’s inversion of the typical approach to limit implementation has been remarkably effective for me. Other screen time apps I’ve tried start off with open access to the distracting apps/sites, and the limit kicks in once I’ve used my time budget. Limit flips this around — distractions are locked down by default, and I have to go out of my way to intentionally opt into using part of my budget to access them. I appreciate having to take the extra step of unlocking access through the Limit app itself, not just tapping a button on the lock screen of the distracting app.

Limit’s approach adds just enough well-placed friction to short-circuit my established automatic behaviors and replace them with moments of reflection and opportunities to be intentional. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve thoughtlessly opened a distracting app, been met with the Limit lock screen, and thought to myself “Oh right, I don’t actually want to do that right now.”

I also love that despite being free, the app has no ads — not even for Freedom, Limit’s paid sister-app. Refreshing.

I’m looking forward to seeing if/how Limit evolves. I see some room for improvement, but with this app already being generously offered for free, I’m not sure how much to expect as far as feature development goes. I’d love to have the option of more granular control (ie setting specific limits for specific apps rather than one umbrella limit that all apps fall under). It would be great to be able to set a custom default unlock time (it’s set to 10 minutes but I usually use 5 minutes or less per session), and have a live session timer countdown on my phone’s Dynamic Island. I think my only real complaint is that the app has an imprecise application of my time budget; unlocked time and active use time are different metrics, and I wish that was better reflected. This is one area where the unlocked-by-default style of screen time management apps feels more accurate/fair than Limit. Currently, if I tell Limit I want to unlock access for 10 minutes and something comes up — say I’m pulled away by a phone call 2 minutes into my session — the session timer continues to run my budget down even though I’m not using the distracting app for 80% of my session. I understand why it’s structured the way it is, and think it’s smart to have a timer for a session, but I don’t want the whole session to count against my limited-app time budget if I didn’t actually spend my time there.

I’m so grateful for this app and am happy to navigate small flaws for the sake of the immense improvements it’s brought to my digital mindset and habits. Thank you for freely offering the world such a meaningful tool!

### 5/5 — Flexible Self-Control-Training

*2026-01-03*

For years I‘ve been using freedom app and I’ve been struggling with the strict yes/no concept. My daily life is too unexpected to be able to set up typical blocking time slots, so often I ended up ending sessions manually, because I needed a webpage for work (Pediatrician) or similar things. Typical example: I tried to reduce my YouTube habit and set up a 24hr session for YouTube, but regularly I needed YT for teaching at the hospital or research. The approach of LIMIT is way better, because I can define a duration and then have to actively set myself to use parts of this sacred time (this is probably the crucial part), to work with one of my blocked apps. So suddenly numb scrolling or checking emails as a habit becomes an active act of known decision. The best way is probably a combination of both FREEDOM (which I still highly recommend) and LIMIT, to cover both the time-dependant locks and the pro-active ones. Thank you for making LIMIT free!!!

**Developer response:** Hey there! That's AWESOME to hear. Thank you so much for trying Limit. We're so happy to share it with you. Thanks again! 🙂

### 5/5 — Amazing app!!!

*2025-12-10*

Works way better than apple screen time. But I would like more functions like in the freedom app (uninstall protection, strict mode,…).

**Developer response:** Thanks for your amazing review! We're so happy to help you find focus & be more productive. Most of the improvements we make come from ideas and suggestions like yours, so we really appreciate your writing in. Thanks again! 🙌

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-12-09*

Love this app! Super easy to set up and very simple interface. One thing I’d like to see is a live activity in the Dynamic Island or lock screen that shows time remaining for a session.

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your awesome 5-star review and great suggestions. We really appreciate the feedback. 🙂

### 4/5 — Helpful app, but has one significant problem

*2025-12-04*

I've been using the Freedom app for a while and so far I like using Limit to further reduce my screen time. Unfortunately I have had difficulty setting up the apps and websites that are timed by Limit. Each time I try to select a category to limit, the app crashes and refreshes with an error message. This makes it difficult to exclude certain apps from falling under the daily limit - it just crashes over and over.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks for writing in about this and so sorry for the trouble! What you are experiencing is a bug with Apple's Screen Time service which has been fixed in their recent iOS software update. Upgrading to iOS 26 should solve the problem. If you need any more help just let us know. Thanks!

### 5/5 — So simple. So powerful.

*2025-12-01*

This simple app is an amazing tool that in one day has entirely transformed my digital habits. It’s the best of one sec and clearspace wrapped up in one simple app that demands absolutely nothing from me-it just quietly works in the background. For free. Wow.

**Developer response:** Amazing! Thank you so much for your 5-star rating. We really appreciate your feedback. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — Fantastic app!

*2025-12-01*

I love the app! I really feel like I have control over the distractions and time I spend scrolling on social media and definitely helps me be more mindful with how I spend my time. It’s very straightforward and easy to use.

**Developer response:** Thank you! We're so glad to hear that. We built Limit to be a simple and easy to use tool for managing distractions and it sounds like it's working for you. 🙌 Thanks again for sharing your feedback!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can't change

*2026-08-09*

Can't change the time once you finish

### 1/5 — Not able to add anything

*2026-03-16*

The app only let you set limit once when it’s the first time using it. After that, you can’t add anymore apps.

**Developer response:** Sorry to hear about your trouble!

👉 If you tap “Edit Settings” while using your Limit time, you can modify which apps get blocked with Limit - try it out!

🫶Thanks for using Limit!

### 1/5 — Corey

*2026-03-12*

Nice Timing.

**Developer response:** Hi there! If you are running into any issues or need any help please let us know. Thanks!

### 2/5 — It’s great but one big flaw

*2026-07-10*

I’ve paid for Freedom for ages and love it, but something like Limit is what I’ve wanted for ages. Unfortunately though you can just edit what apps are selected, and increase the timer, anytime you pause the timer, which kind of defeats the purpose. If it was as strict as Freedom it’d be perfect.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks so much for being a longtime Freedom user, and for taking the time to share this. That's really valuable feedback on Limit, we'll pass along the idea of tighter controls around editing selections and timers to the product team. Glad to hear the core experience is working well for you otherwise!

### 2/5 — Needs to be a strict mode

*2026-06-07*

I love the concept, it's exactly what I have been looking for. Unfortunately it's too easy to just keep giving yourself more time. Can we have a strict mode?

**Developer response:** Hi there! So glad the concept resonates with you. The ability to lock down time extensions is definitely something we're hearing, and we'll make sure the team knows. Thanks for the feedback!

### 2/5 — Too easy to give self more time

*2026-05-25*

I have long been a paid subscriber to Freedom, also by this creator. Freedom blocks apps during certain times of day but you only can break your rules once a week or something like that. With this app, Limit, you can get around your limits immediately and it seems, an unlimited number of times. I just tried giving myself half an hour, and then changing it to an hour, and then changing it to two hours, and there was no friction. Unless I missing something, Limit is no different from Screen Time, which is already built into every iPhone. If this gets changed to be more like Freedom, it will be a great app.

**Developer response:** Hey there! Thanks for the detailed feedback — and for being a Freedom subscriber too! You're right that Limit doesn't currently have the same enforcement strictness as Freedom. We really appreciate you sharing this and will pass it along to the team. 🙏

### 3/5 — Please explain

*2026-06-30*

I don’t understand I woke up and it said on my screen time has been used, but I haven’t been on my phone at all in the day and it was only 9 AM so I don’t understand why I couldn’t unlock any of my apps even though I hadn’t been on my phone the entire day. it’s a good app but I just don’t understand. It doesn’t make sense to me why I can’t go on any of these apps please explain.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks for reaching out about this. If you are still seeing this issue please reach out to Freedom support. Email support@freedom.to and ask to talk to an agent. We'd be happy to look into it for you. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Request on Limit Days

*2026-08-14*

I have been using Limit for a couple day now and it really helps! But I have to travel a lot on the weekends and the only thing I really do in a five hour car ride is watch social media. So it would be nice if you could change the app where you can specialize different time limits for different days. Like so Monday through Thursday I could have a shorter time limit, cause I’ll be at home but Friday through Saturday I will have a longer limit because I’m traveling. Thanks for taking my request in!

### 4/5 — It’s ok

*2026-05-07*

I like the app, I’ve tried many screen time apps and I’ve stuck to this one, but it’s a little too easy to just add more time when your about to run out

**Developer response:** Thanks for the feedback! We appreciate you sticking with Limit and sharing your thoughts. We'll definitely pass this along to the team—insights like yours help us keep improving. 👍

### 4/5 — [Edited] Good, some more options needed

*2026-04-29*

Really simple to use, clear interface, a really elegant solution for the problem I am trying to solve.

I only wish it also actually blocked websites through the screentime system. That one addition would deliver outsized results, at least for me

[Edit]
Found a somewhat hidden setting in Brave that disabled screentime access to websites. How opal was able to block websites through that setting I do not know, but Limit is (mostly) working as intended now.

I have to major pieces of feedback still:
Whenever I edit the screentime block list, every website gets blocked until I force close and restart both apps
And I want the ability some other apps implement to disallow adult websites separately, since they don’t appear in my screentime history

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for the kind words about the interface — really glad it's clicking for you! Just a heads up: Limit does actually block websites in Safari when they're added to your blocklist. It's possible something isn't configured quite right on your end. Reach out to us at support@freedom.to and we'll get you sorted! 😊

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Synergy with Freedom

*2026-07-23*

I used ‘Freedom’ for general blocklists, but I found it too restrictive for things like social media. ‘Limit’ is the perfect partner app to give me that added degree of flexibility.

**Developer response:** Love this combo! 🙌 Freedom for the heavy lifting and Limit for that extra flexibility on things like social media is exactly how they're designed to work together. Thanks for sharing how you use both!

### 5/5 — I like beating it

*2026-06-27*

This app is very simple yet effective. I only used it for one day. My Screen Time has gone down over 60%.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing this, a 60% drop in just one day is fantastic! Really glad Limit is working well for you. 🙌

### 5/5 — Best one!

*2026-05-15*

Amazing that there are zero ads and the application is genuinely well-made. This is good for the world and is a sign that greed should not take over.

**Developer response:** Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We're so glad you found us, and please don't hesitate to spread the word about Limit. Thanks again!

### 5/5 — No clutter

*2026-05-13*

Literally does what it’s meant to do!

**Developer response:** Thanks so much for your 5-star review! Glad Limit is doing exactly what you need. Thanks again, and please don't hesitate to spread the word about Limit!

### 5/5 — So thankful!

*2026-05-09*

Incredible app, within the first day I felt like I had my screen time back under control and wasn’t wasting my life on social media! So happy with this app, thank you for creating it

**Developer response:** Thanks so much, Amanda! It's awesome to hear that Limit helped you reclaim your screen time so quickly. That's exactly what we built it for—to help you break free from social media without the friction. We're thrilled it's working for you! 🙌

### 5/5 — Near perfection

*2026-04-14*

In order to limit time wasted on social media apps, I’ve been installing and uninstalling the apps when I want to use them. This still leaves me vulnerable to pointless scrolling when they are installed. I love that this app lets me decide when and how I’d like to use my time.

**Developer response:** Hey Gildur! That's such a relatable struggle — and exactly the kind of problem Limit was built to solve. Love that it's helping you take back control of how you spend your time. Thanks for the kind words! 😊

### 5/5 — Amazing free app!

*2026-03-31*

I have gotten so much of my time back with Limit. I had already purchased the company’s other product, Freedom, and the combination of the two means I have been scrolling for less than 20 minutes each day and never actually using all of my allotted limit!

**Developer response:** That's such a great result — less than 20 minutes of scrolling a day is impressive! We're glad Limit and Freedom are working so well together for you. Thanks for the kind words and for being a fan of both apps!

### 5/5 — Freed me from this device

*2026-03-29*

THANK YOU

**Developer response:** We're so happy to hear that! Thanks so much for sharing your story, and please be sure to spread the word about Limit! Thanks again! 😊

### 5/5 — The Best

*2026-03-18*

Only free app blocker I’ve found that isn’t stuffed with adds, free trials, or other bs. It’s helped me get hours of my time back and it’s simple design is easy to navigate 😁😁.

**Developer response:** Hey there! So glad to hear Limit is helping you get your time back. Really appreciate the kind words about the simple, no-fuss design 😊

### 5/5 — review

*2026-03-03*

I love how you don’t have to pay for it and it really does help me take down my screen time

**Developer response:** Hello and thank you for your review! We know how hard it can be to avoid distractions, so we're glad to hear Limit is helping you with this. 👏
