## What is Limit Screen Time・Taskfulness?

In 2024, Oxford made “brain rot” the word of the year. The term means long, mindless scrolling on social media.
But are social media really that bad? They still help us work, connect, and study.

We believe the key is balance. Taskfulness helps you keep valuable interactions while limiting the doomscrolling.
The results: our members save 28-36% of their screen time daily, without missing out.
Want intentional screen time? Try Taskfulness free for 7 days.

Built on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy principles.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick an app

Select the apps that steal most of your time. For example, Instagram, WhatsApp, Reddit, Gmail, etc.
2. Set intention

Each time you open a chosen app, Taskfulness will pop up and ask: “Why do you need it?” and “For how long?”. Once you enter the reason, the app opens.
3. Stay focused*

Use the app for the duration you set. Mid-session, you’ll get a quick reminder of your original intention. When time’s up, the app closes automatically.

*works only with Reminders on

### 1/5 — Hangs

*2026-03-02, version 7.8.1*

I want to manage more than one app and would be glad to upgrade to Pro, but when I click to upgrade it hangs and says Restore Purchase and when I do, it doesn’t save anything. They I try again and it does the same thing.

### 3/5 — Good simple app

*2025-05-11, version 7.8.1*

The app is really simple, yet awesome. The idea is brilliant.

But the subscription is WAY too expensive.

### 5/5 — Best app in the field

*2025-02-12, version 7.8.1*

I’m in love with this app. The idea of having to type why you’re going to use the app before accessing it makes you much more intentional. I feel like I’m back in control of my digital life—I no longer open Instagram or WhatsApp automatically after finishing a task. Now I can pause and reflect on whether I really need to do that at that moment, and this has been changing my days. Much better than just blocking the app for a while is being able to reflect throughout the day on when and why to use it at that specific moment. I’m very grateful for this app. It’s truly worth using!

### 5/5 — Terrific

*2024-12-27, version 7.7.2*

Great app that stays innovative and helps you stay off your phone to focus on the more important things in life. I’ve used it since approximately 2020 and it has made a marked improvement in my life and career.

### 1/5 — Terrific

*2024-12-23*

I used to love Actuflow and bought a lifetime purchase. Then they moved to a subscription model and essentially told their old members they had to start paying for a subscription. That’s not cool and a complete bait and switch. At the very least they should have grandfathered their old members like me, who paid for the product (in addition to giving them free consulting via Zoom). A 50% discount is not a good remedy to that. I would not recommend this app for that reason, plenty of others out there that will actually treat their users/financial supporters with the respect they’re entitled to.

**Developer response:** Dear Yezwaj,

Thank you for reaching out with this 🙏
There must be a mistake, because we made sure the lifetime users of the previous version of Taskfulness receive a lifetime subscription.
Please reach out to us, so we can understand what went wrong and fix it 🙂

### 4/5 — So good, but still has bugs

*2024-11-30, version 7.7.0*

Used this intermittently over the past year. It’s the best app of its kind, by far. The blocking with the ability to unlock with intent is just the right amount of friction.

Unfortunately it continues to have bugs. The latest is that a frequent notification asking what I’m doing, even if they’re set to 15 minutes and I’ve been using my phone for 30 seconds. Worst is that they seem delayed, so my ignored phone will light up with Taskfulness asking what I’m doing.

I really really want to keep using it but it often ends up being a balance of whether the benefit outweighs the annoyances + cost.

Also: what’s with the age ranges at sign up? Gives the impression that the creator views anyone over 40 as old :)

### 5/5 — Makes me think when I scroll

*2024-11-10, version 7.7.0*

This app saves so much time!
Now I get asked what am I doing on the phone, and for how long. I use my phone more intentionally and focused, and my screen time has dropped down 2 hours/day!!!

### 1/5 — No

*2024-10-23, version 7.7.0*

I cant delete this😭😭💀💀💀

### 5/5 — AI notifications are 🔥

*2024-09-10, version 7.6.2*

Personalized AI notifications is the best feature IMO. When I am surfing unintentionally, the app would suggests alternative tasks that align with my goals. My screen time is now useful!

### 5/5 — Life-changing

*2024-09-09, version 7.6.2*

Taskfullness is such a sweet, non-irritating app, yet it’s still persistent in keeping me on track! I really appreciate all the different settings, especially the option to choose whether I want emotional labelling or not. It’s been eye-opening to see how often I unconsciously dive into my Instagram feed. I bet this app is going to be a huge help in keeping me focused and prepared for my exams!
