## What is LineDanceQ?

LineDanceQ is a music player made for line dance practice and class nights. It shows every song in the order you dance it.

■ Dance map
Tap along with the beat while listening (Analyze), import the step sheet, and you get a dance map of wall blocks. Columns are facings (12, 9, 6 and 3 o’clock), rows are laps. During playback the current wall turns yellow and a ping-pong ball bounces on every count. Tap a block to play from just before it (pre-roll).

■ Find it with Shazam
Can’t recall the name of the song playing at class, even though it must be in your library? Tap the Shazam button by the search field. It identifies the song and filters your library by its name, and finds the dance even when its name differs from the song, using the “Music:” line of the step sheet.

■ Construction Set
Tags, Restarts and direction changes are never guessed. You place them yourself while reading the original sheet, or simply tap “Tag here” while the song plays. Long-press a block to make it a “racket” and loop just that section for practice.

■ Adding songs
Bring in audio files from your device, songs received by LINE or Mail, and songs from the Music app (bought on iTunes or imported from CDs). Add artwork and the artist from Apple’s song search, and open the song in Apple Music or Spotify.

■ Step sheets
Open CopperKnob, LineDance.com, Linedancer, BootStepper and Dancing Texas inside the app and import straight from the dance page. PDF and pasted text work too. The original text is always one tap away.

■ Videos
Keep YouTube links and your own videos with each song. Videos on a CopperKnob page are listed with their titles, so adding one is a single tap. The in-app player shows only the video. For your own videos, the Q button loops the last few seconds, and once you mark the dance start the dance map follows the video.

■ Dance Session
A big control screen that plays a playlist in order, with just a display and a wheel. Swipe the display between the song order, the dance map and the step sheet. It stops after each song and waits, so you can explain the next dance first. “Request Other Dance” lets you play any song in between.

■ Handover and backup
Bundle songs, analyses, sheets and video links into one file and pass it to a friend’s LineDanceQ by AirDrop or LINE; the receiver only adds what is missing. Full library backup and restore, with NAS (WebDAV) support.

■ Hands-on control
Besides the lock screen and earphone buttons, a keyboard-type remote such as the 8BitDo Micro can select blocks and cue playback.

■ Simple pricing
Free for up to 20 songs with every feature. Buy LineDanceQ Pro, a one-time purchase, only if you want to manage more. No subscription.

■ Compatibility
iPhone and iPad. Japanese and English. VoiceOver supported.
Please respect copyright for music and likeness rights for videos, and use the app for personal enjoyment within your group.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.2.7 — 2026-10-28

• Step sheets: closed the gaps in imported text (blank lines between “Count:” and its value, counts stuck to the steps). Saved sheets are tidied too.
• When you open a step sheet site, the dance name is already in its search field, so you can find it even if you forget the spelling.
• Dance map: the column headings (arc and clock label) now sit side by side, giving the map more room.
• Fixed the “Build” button sometimes switching to the LDQ-chan page instead of opening the Construction Set.
• Help: “Start from a YouTube video” added to “Add a Song You Were Told About”.

### 1.2.6 — 2026-10-27

• Library: “Create from Video Link” under +. Keep a dance you found on YouTube in your Library before you have the audio; add the step sheet and audio later.
• Library: long-press a song and choose “Rename…” to change the name shown (leave it empty to restore the original; search still finds the original name).
• Dance Session: a “lens” on the step sheet page. The three lines under the band in the middle are shown taller, and the wheel stops on line breaks (text sheets).
• Dance Session: the wheel’s left and right buttons (previous/next song) no longer act on the dance map and step sheet pages.
• Settings: “Redeem Code” — enter a coupon code to get Pro.
• Dance Session: returning from Request Other Dance to the same song now plays it from the start, and the ▶ glow pauses during Request Other Dance.
• Dance Session: fixed the progress bar sometimes staying stuck after scrubbing.
• Shazam and videos: fixed problems after the iPhone’s audio system restarted.

### 1.2.2 — 2026-10-24

• Restoring a backup now brings back artwork too.
• Fixed song info, artwork and videos sometimes disappearing after fine-tuning the tempo.
• Handover: songs received without audio now get their PDF sheet and videos, and sending again with audio attaches it on the receiver’s side.
• Bringing in songs from Music is faster and keeps the original sound, with progress shown while it works.
• Fixed the sound sometimes stopping after switching screens while Shazam was listening.
• Large images display lightly, and the library and sheet stay smooth during playback.
• Other small fixes and VoiceOver improvements.

### 1.2.1 — 2026-10-23

• Bring in songs from Music: + › “Choose from Music” turns songs bought on iTunes or imported from CDs into practice audio, with artwork and artist.
• Artwork and song info: long-press a song and tap “Find Song Info & Artwork” to pick a match from Apple’s song search. Library search now matches artists too.
• Listen in Apple Music or Spotify: open the song in those apps from the long-press menu or under the title in the Player.
• Dance Session: songs not yet analyzed show 30-second blocks on the dance map page of the display. Tap one to play from there.
• Help: new pages “Add a Song You Were Told About” and “Playing Loud at the Venue (speakers and PA)”.
• More reliable playback: fixed ▶ sometimes not working after the iPhone's audio system restarted, and a single press on a keyboard-style remote sometimes counting twice (iOS 18).
