This app had been immensely valuable to me. Thanks for developing it! Just wanted to ask for some help. I use Lingora on a device running iOS and the 'Ignore forever' button doesn't seem to work when I'm practicing vocabulary with the flashcards. Is it a bug or should I just re-install the app? Would reinstalling the app reset my progress? ### 5/5 — Great for Cantonese *2024-02-09, version 3.2.1* This is one of the best Cantonese learning apps out there, tried a lot, this is thorough and well laid out ### 5/5 — Perfect language learning app! *2024-01-31, version 3.2.1* It’s almost impossible to find a variety of resources for learning Southern Vietnamese. This helps with memorizing sentence structure and vocabulary, which is what I needed. Only thing is sometimes it’s hard to see the tone marks so you get marked wrong and “đi” shows up as “?“ in reviews. But otherwise, most intuitive language learning app for me so far. ### 5/5 — This is a great app, love the option for Southern Vietnamese *2023-10-31, version 3.0* I am learning the southern accent for Vietnamese and having this app is so amazing. I really enjoy the fact that it only offers A1 content, as I think it is an AMAZING way to not get overwhelmed by extra content. Whether or not the creator has plans to add additional levels in the future is unbeknownst to me, but I think just having beginner level content is really a great way to start this app. and it’s subscription services aren’t expensive at all. with the lack of content available for southern vietnamese, this is truly a godsend in my eyes. however, it isn’t perfect. there are some cons to note: - the UX/UI is pretty… boring. it’s just a black screen with mainly white text. it doesn’t do a lot to grab the users attention, other than serving it’s intended purpose. this isn’t necessarily a con, but it is nice to have aesthetically pleasing content to learn with. - The vocab system is a little boring too. it has 4 options currently; ‘quick review,’ ‘flash cards,’ ‘multiple choice,’ and ‘matching pairs.’ they do what you expect, but i feel like this app could really benefit from an SRS system, even a basic one really changes the learning curve. - there isn’t really any challenge to the lessons. I think the content it introduces is absolutely superb, but when each lesson takes less than 5 minutes… it feels too easy. - the vocabulary trainer for each lesson is extremely repetitive. it’s all multiple choice. the sentence correction section also is essentially multiple choice, as you just click on the words in order. i think this section could benefit from an actual input method, like having to type out the sentence you hear. maybe limiting the amount of times you can listen to the phrase could also add a good challenge. the tone related questions are a little unnecessary, it’s just another form of multiple choice for words we were quizzed on several times before with the other quiz types. - besides sentence blocking, i don’t feel like there’s any actual “teaching” happening. while, yes, i am learning new vocabulary, i’m not really being taught the grammar introduced in each sentence, understanding the nuances between words. maybe a feature that compares words with similar uses would be nice, like when to use nhiều or hơn when meaning “more.” while this app does have a some cons, it still is great for what it is, and for what it offers. especially when it comes to vietnamese learners (specifically SVN because the lack of available content is extremely frustrating). i am excited to see where this app may go in the future, and what it’s intended path will be. there are some features i’d love to see introduced such as visual aids for vocabulary, grammar explanations (or a grammar bank as grammar is always a bit tough for vietnamese). this is worth a download for sure! ### 5/5 — Great for Malay (and others)! *2023-03-28, version 1.0* It's not easy to find decent Malay learning materials. This app has plenty of practice sentences to help with listening comprehension. Thanks!! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — English audio files did not load *2025-06-12, version 5.0.1* As the title says, whenever I open the app and select the course that I want, it at first says to try again later. Then when I click it again, it says the audio files are 0% loaded even when I wait. ### 2/5 — Really good but hard to digest *2026-04-04, version 5.1.2* I think this app is amazing because it offers southern vietnamese which a lot of apps do not offer and it goes super in depth. however, the information is really hard to digest and process because the lessons are very lengthy and are at times a bit confusing and lack clarification. For example when the lessons provides an example for a concept it doesn’t have an option to see the definition of the specific words. This puts a lot of beginner learners who arent good at vocabulary at a disadvantage . Also, the formatting made it really hard to sit through because it was just one dark cohesive colour for the background and icons. Learning in the app is like sitting in a dark room being with a teacher who provides little clarification and yaps and yaps and yaps.I personally have the attention span of a rock so the lack of visuals made it hard to remember anything. I just think it’d appeal to a wider audience such as children and teenagers if there were more visually interesting elements and the information was spread out and bite sized. If I wanted in depth lengthy lessons, I wouldve just watched a youtube video or took a class. Overall, I think the app is really good at providing a lot of information but lacks clarity and engaging visuals. ### 2/5 — App crash *2025-12-24, version 5.1.1* Would enjoy this app a lot more if it didn’t crash halfway through the lesson every time and resetting progress especially after paying for it. ### 3/5 — Help *2026-05-17, version 6.0.5* Never have I seen an app with so much effort put into it, at least for Cantonese, a language where there seems to be a drought in resources. Great job on that, but there is a problem, not all audio files do not load for me, making the audio questions impossible. I am constantly in search of the silver bullet app that will help me the most. This app is almost there because it allows me to focus on what I need to improve the most: my listening. The only problem that I have is when I am building the words using the crossword style exercise. It keeps trying to slide the screen back to the main menu, and therefore it is almost not functional. Although extremely basic and very slow moving, I will use this to improve my listening. ### 4/5 — Great for Cantonese *2026-07-02, version 6.0.9* This is a great app for learning Cantonese. There is one bug that makes it hard to use sometimes which is when needing to select a Chinese character for a multiple choice question, half of the options are so tiny you can't read them, so I just need to guess. Really rich app, and not bloated. Since update May 2026 it’s become even better. Thought that the sentence based lessons would result in me just memorizing sentences without understanding, but luckily that’s not the case. I would strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a Cantonese learning app. The developer is also very helpful and hard working, when there was a small issue, after a report it was fixed the next day. I started with Japanese last year using a combination of resources (wanikani, bunpro, anki etc) and I was having a hard time finding an app/apps that could replicate that, but with Cantonese. Lingora meets that sweet spot for me as a catch-all app of grammar, character recognition, and vocabulary. I had also reached out to the dev to ask about a feature I thought would be awesome to see, and he responded saying it was already being worked on and would be released shortly! And then it was!
