## What is Lingua PH?

Lingua is a dictionary and learning app for the indigenous and regional languages of the Philippines. The app includes large languages, for example Ilocano, Kapampangan, and Bikol. The app also includes languages in danger, for example Arta and Ratagnon.

The app works without an internet connection. The full dictionary downloads to your device the first time you open the app. After that, you can browse, learn, and add words in all locations:  in the city, in the province, or far from a network.

 • Browse the list of Philippine languages from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao
 • See the status of each language: active, growing, or critical. See where people speak it
 • Open the dictionary of each language. Each entry has words, example sentences, and pronunciation
 • Read traditional stories and community entries
 • See the health profile of a language and its recorded voices

LEARN AT YOUR OWN SPEED
 • Practice with flashcards made from real dictionary entries
 • Hear words and phrases with text-to-speech
 • Chat with an AI assistant about any language in the app
 • Read language news and articles from the community

AI THAT KEEPS YOUR DATA PRIVATE
The AI chat runs on your device. Download a small AI model one time. After that, the AI makes its answers on your phone. The answers come from the dictionary of the language you study. You do not need an account. You do not need internet.

ADD WORDS AND RECORDINGS
 • Add words and translations to any language. Register a language that is not on the list
 • Record pronunciation clips in your own voice
 • Confirm or flag entries. This helps the community keep the dictionary correct
 • The app keeps your entries on your device. The app publishes your entries to the community only when you agree

SYNC IF YOU WANT
Sign in with Apple or Google. This backs up your contributions and favorites across your devices. You do not need an account. All features work without one.
