### 4/5 — Cant link iPhones using a hotspot from a iPhone.

*2026-05-14, version 3.9.2*

I have an android and an iPhone. My friends have iPhones. I was able to connect my android to the iPhone using the hotspot on the iphone but I could not get their iPhones to connect to it also. I noticed that there is an option on the iPhone when going to settings and privacy and security that says (local networks.) the description at the bottom specifically says “apps that have requested permission to find and communicate with devices on your local network will appear here” but when I look through the list link boy is not in it. There any way to turn this on? I’ll give a 5 star when possible. Thanks!

### 4/5 — Brilliant app

*2026-02-25, version 3.6.0*

Very good app, since update increases speed on gameplay seems to be lost which is annoying, also unable to link unless exactly same rom which is annoying for trading for example

### 4/5 — Big update finally came through!

*2026-02-19*

Used Linking Boy on android a lot, and when I moved over to apple, the IOS version was very sup-par (missing most of the features the android version has). But since the latest update, the IOS version now has all the features it was lacking that android version has! Only thing the emulator is missing for me would be cloud saving for data, but still the best GBA/GBC emulator on IOS.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your support! We'll bring even more features to both platforms with future updates.

### 4/5 — Link works

*2026-01-01*

I was able to trade and battle my brother wirelessly through our cell phone networks. Amazing emulator I recommend it to all my friends and family.

Update review: I wish you could link the Pmonster games over different games of the same series LG/FR, R/S/E. Also mute on silent doesn’t always work, I like to listen to personal music or audio books while I play; could be a bug with Bluetooth head sets as it worked on speaker before.

### 4/5 — Good but,

*2025-12-25, version 1.0.4*

Need version 3.5 here on iOS, don’t understand why it’s not out yet and it is for android.

### 4/5 — Pokémon

*2025-11-25, version 1.0.4*

Wish yall would update to trade between ruby sapphire emerald Pokémon to trade with leaf green and fire red Pokémon want to complete Pokédex without cheating can’t do that without trading between these platforms would rate higher if that happens

### 4/5 — Great emulator, coming from Android retro devices to iOS.

*2025-10-10, version 1.0.4*

This emulator is great, delta has more options but you get trading with this app. Coming from the Android version of this app I am impressed. This developer has done a fantastic job regardless.

### 4/5 — Amazing

*2025-08-28, version 1.0.4*

Amazing but does not muy Audio when phone on silence

### 4/5 — Almost perfect but…

*2025-04-29, version 1.0.4*

Seems to do just about everything you’d expect an emulator to do, however, with this emulator focusing on the “linking” aspect of it, I’m hoping that there will be updates to support “cross rom” linking.

Ruby, Saphire, Emerald, FR & LG are different ROMs, and because of this, the Emulator refuses to establish the handshake. It would be amazing to trade between these games.

Make this possible and I’ll give it the 5 stars it deserves.

### 4/5 — Good Emulator - Needs GB/GBC Support!

*2025-04-06, version 1.0.4*

This emulator, Linking Boy, is a good emulator for GBA. The GBA Link feature is a great addition for GBA games. High compliments to the developer on the emulator layout and functionality; particularly, in adding GBA Link support for GBA Link games. The emulation is quick and responsive as well as accurate in sound to original hardware. Thanks to the developer for adding GBA Link support to the app!

This emulator needs to expand support to: GameBoy (GB) and GameBoy Color (GBC); games, so as to be able to support GBA Link and GB/GBC Link features for: GBA and GB/GBC games. This expanded support should include the ability to use GB/GBC Link to trade Pokémon in Pokémon: Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal; as well as GB/GBC Link multiplayer in: Legend of Zelda - Four Swords; and other GB/GBC Link multiplayer games listed on the Wikipedia page: ‘List of Multiplayer GameBoy Games’.

I’ve rated this app 4 out of 5 stars, and will update the review to 5 stars as well as purchase the premium version if GB/GBC support is added to this app. Thanks to the developer for their support of this app! :)

### 5/5 — Is it cross platform?

*2025-03-31, version 1.0.4*

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Complaints

*2026-07-08, version 3.10.0*

Alright, what’s the meaning of this? Somehow all of my files have been removed or deleted in Linking Boy? What’s going on?

### 1/5 — iOS 15 is not supported

*2024-11-16*

It's a shame that the app isn't available for iOS 15. I was willing to pay money for Link Cable.

### 2/5 — Update ruined the linking capabilities

*2026-05-23, version 3.9.4*

I don’t know which update ruined the linking but it sucks now. Me and my brother used to be able to link through our phone networks but now it only allows WiFi linking, and we need the ip address. It seems more unnecessarily difficult to link now.

### 2/5 — Missing features?

*2025-09-29*

I’ve used Linking Boy premium on Android and now IOS, and I have to say, VERY disappointed. The android version has 2 options that the IOS version doesn’t (that I’ve noticed so far, anyway) - a color filter that makes the games less brightly saturated and therefore give the intended color look, and a feature that allows you to toggle fast forward instead of hold it. What the heck linking not team? I’ve supported you TWICE now by buying premium, and my reward for playing on IOS is… LESS features? 😡

### 2/5 — You cannot export your save files!

*2025-02-10, version 1.0.1*

This is a great emulator (particularly for multiplayer link cable support) but there is currently no way to export your saves unless you have a device with Filza installed. If you are someone that emulates on multiple devices, I would recommend steering away from this emulator until a save export feature is added.

### 3/5 — Having really bad slowing issue

*2026-07-03, version 3.10.0*

Whenever I close the app and reopen it, or sometimes randomly, the game’s speed drops to about 50%. The only way I’ve been able to fix this is by closing the app and restarting my ROM.

### 3/5 — Missing features?

Update: Still no access to cheats even though the android version has them!

### 3/5 — My Emulator of choice, but flawed.

*2025-08-31, version 1.0.4*

I picked this emulator because, unlike Delta, the in game clocks automatically sync with the system after switching back to the app rather than just resuming the clock where it was where you left it. A key feature for me is definitely the button remapping, which I love. The Lcd3X video filter is amazing too. The audio is also soooo much better than Delta’s. I haven’t tried the titular linking function yet so I can’t speak on that. My main complaints are that it is slower than Delta and the audio desyncs. The framerate and game speed will drop and not run as smoothly as other emulators and the screen will tear (into a weird 6 parts), but is very much still playable, at least in my opinion. I cannot say the same about the audio desync. When you leave the app for a bit and come back to it, the audio will be delayed by about half a second. If at least the audio issue is fixed, this would be the gba emulator I’d recommend to everyone.

### 3/5 — Great but questionable

*2025-05-19, version 1.0.4*

I absolutely love this app just wish they could collab with delta emulation to perfect the development

### 4/5 — Pls fix the linking

*2026-08-21, version 3.11.0*

The linking was good when I first downloaded this emulator then it got changed to where you have to be on the same network as whoever you’re trying to play with please change it back and add Bluetooth linking as well I used to get emulators on my android as a kid and Bluetooth linking worked smoothly on them so it would be nice if it can be added as well as a way to link with players in different states if that’s possible

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — 100% Better then delta for GBA

*2026-08-07, version 3.11.0*

Let me list it.

1. Snappier gameplay
2. Bigger screen
3. One time purchase for multiple saves and trading!!! (This is the only app that can do this)
4. Last thing. On delta if you finger slides off of the controls it stops the input. (I HATE THAT) on linkboy it keeps your input going. (I LOVE THAT)

9/10 linkboy

I wish it could do DS games

### 5/5 — Best ios Gameboy Emulator

*2026-05-06, version 3.9.2*

With the updates over the past few months, this is my emulator of choice for gba, gbc,gb. Enjoying the sgb support.

### 5/5 — Living the old days

*2026-03-16, version 3.6.0*

FINALLY a GBA emulator with controllers similar to my boy emulator this is the exact emulator that I’ve been looking for! 10/10

### 5/5 — This is the best GBA emulator for iOS that allows you to import your favorite games and export save

*2026-02-20, version 3.6.0*

This is the best GBA emulator for iOS that allows you to import your favorite games and export save data to other devices to continue playing. I really like it.

### 5/5 — Big update finally came through!

*2026-02-12*

Used Linking Boy on android a lot, and when I moved over to apple, the IOS version was very sup-par (missing most of the features the android version has). But since the latest update, the IOS version now has all the features it was lacking, couldnt recommend this emulator more!

**Developer response:** Thanks for your support! We'll bring even more features to both platforms with future updates.

### 5/5 — Good but one problem

*2026-02-10, version 3.6.0*

The emulator is absolutely amazing. The emulation works flawlessly. The linking is amazing, but with one problem. Everywhere I look it says that the linking supports up to four players. My dad and I can play great but when we try 3 players with my brother, it always fails when we try to connect a third device.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-01-16*

Came here after I found out that this is the successor for My boy app on Android devices finally got to relive the old days after I transferred my save progress from android to IOS also this apps runs the games really fast too great job can’t wait to see the future updates!

### 5/5 — Link works

*2025-12-29*

I was able to trade and battle my brother wirelessly through our cell phone networks. Amazing emulator I recommend it to all my friends and family

### 5/5 — Best emulator I have ever used😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

*2025-07-08, version 1.0.4*

I started using this because my other emulator crashed and I couldn’t play pokemon leaf green and I was looking for another emulator and I found this.I think whoever made this is amazing at emulator stuff (code and things like that)and I think whoever created this should make a ds emulator and GameCube and N64 and many other consoles.

### 5/5 — Best GBA Emulator

*2025-04-08*

but it need to add link cable feature on the same device, and cheat like myboy emulator
