### 2/5 — Veer poor for such an expensive system

*2022-11-05, version 4.15.5*

The app doesn’t work for me - I can’t play music through it. The is very poor. The different apps and website (you need to use multiple different apps to control the system) is confusing. My smart speaker (2% of the cost of the linn) works so much better - pretty seamlessly. Linn please up your game with the digital interfaces

### 2/5 — iOS 14.5

*2021-04-26, version 4.13.77*

This broke the app. It now will not detect any my Linn zones now. Please fix!

### 2/5 — Unstable

*2020-12-18, version 4.13.75*

Since I updated to the latest version it constantly freezes

### 1/5 — July 2020 update will not open

*2020-07-09, version 4.13.66*

Since updating to the latest version (66), I cannot get the app to open

### 1/5 — 4.13.65 (July upgrade) doesn't work

*2020-07-04, version 4.13.65*

Since the update 2 days ago the app has crashed to home screen on launch every time. Same thing in the Linn app.

### 1/5 — Linn Music Server Ao

*2020-05-19, version 4.13.64*

This Ap is terrible. It rarely connects without issues and is woeful when you consider the cost of the music servers is so high. Needs a lot of improvement compared to other products.

### 3/5 — Ok but issue with search function

*2020-03-18, version 4.13.64*

The search function just buffers.... admittedly I have 200k tracks to stream via a nas drive. However, it cannot search a group or single artist

### 1/5 — An embarrassment

*2020-01-10, version 4.13.59*

Magik DSM, Akurate dymnik power amp, 75mbps via Ethernet, mesh WiFi 65-70mbps, cuts out at random whether using an iPad Pro, iPhone 11, or a PC. Great sound but the interface is clunky, a far cry from the likes of Tidal, Spotify, Deezer etc. Hugely frustrating and for the price and reputation, I would have expected better.

After being contacted from the developer (& world famous manufacturer), even contacting them from a supplied link was impossible. This is everything that is wrong. The quality of the Linn DSM is undeniable, & all linn hardware.. The software/ app is a joke compared to the hardware. Why does my £100 JBL Charge 3 in the kitchen work better wirelessly than a lan wired Linn product in a dedicated music room? I have Tidal HIFI, my phone cuts out & wont recognise the 'music player', the iPad works sometimes when my phone cuts out, the pc works when the iPad cuts out...the pc belongs to the Mrs, who is a Lead Digital Engineer for a tier one contractor, this is with mesh speed tests averaging over 70 mbps.
Anyway it keeps cutting out, switching a £3k steamer on & off wasn't in the brochure. My £100 JBL charge in the kitchen never misses a beat, & that's not lan wired. Neither does my car. Why do al my 'inferior' products work with Apple, and if you've got an answer for that, why doesn't the dsm work with a pc that is practically powered by an Infinty Stone that can handle 4d models in Revit,Fuzor, 3dsMax... hardware excellence, software negligence. If you can't beat Spotify as an interface you need to go back to the drawing board. Especially when you email to discuss problems & the link doesn't work.

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2019-10-24, version 4.13.58*

Has stopped working on my iPhone 6 since iOS 13 installed. Fortunately it still works on my iPad.

### 3/5 — Nicer interface than Kinsky, when it finds kazoo server & DS.

*2019-08-25, version 4.13.48*

Have used this on an iPad for over a year with my DSM and kazoo server running on a dedicated Mac. Strange that quite often it doesn’t see my music collection, but fire up Kinsky and it’s there. Also tends to hang ‘waiting for Room’ forever. Again Kinsky will find it and once it has you can go back to kazoo app again. Sometimes have to uninstall the app and reinstall to get it to work again. Maybe that’s a clue? Wanted to test it with a version of openhome installed on my Rpi 3 to appear like a DS, but looks like they have not updated the openhome.org website for ages so the binary won’t work on my pi. (Tried compiling from source but too many missing libraries.) I’m continuing to use it in the hope that these problems will be ironed out.
Wish list:
Full screen album art.
Search facility.
Update openhome.org

### 1/5 — Buggy again...

*2019-08-22, version 4.13.48*

Update on 6/8/19 has introduced a number of serious bugs which cause the app to be unresponsive when changing inputs and starting up. Best to avoid till fixed. Unfortunately back to their old ways issuing untested software.

### 1/5 — The worst APP

*2019-06-13, version 4.13.44*

This is The bad worse worst APP，after every updates，The APP cannot find The Linn DS。I must reinstall The APP to usually use.

### 2/5 — Awful

*2019-02-26, version 4.13.26*

I’ve been a Linn user for 25+ years. This interface is a throwback. Kinsky, which I now use more frequently is better. Not properly compatible with apple products. I have it installed on 7 apple devices. On three it will show tracks from my media server but, when selected, will tell me the track is not available.

iPhone 10 app crashes repeatedly, generally after two or three songs.

Linn,I love your equipment but am nearing the end of my rope. And it doesn’t help that you have shut down the community forum where others could help with solutions to issues.

### 1/5 — Will only play one track at a time

*2018-12-23, version 4.13.23*

No ability to shuffle or play an entire playlist on tidal or linn playlist

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Locks up a lot

*2026-02-10, version 4.15.15*

Needs to be constantly reloaded

### 1/5 — Linn Kazoo

*2022-08-28*

Rubbish app, keeps crashing, unable to recognize Linn Select and then you loose all your playlists.

### 1/5 — Regrets. I have plenty.

*2021-10-05, version 4.13.83*

Spent a fortune on Linn products but this app is dreadful. We should have gone with Sonos.

### 1/5 — The Linn App

*2021-08-29, version 4.13.82*

The Linn App is the most quirky, unpredictable app that I have ever attempted to use. I have been extremely disappointed with the Linn App.
James McKeon.

### 1/5 — Ok when it works

*2021-03-07, version 4.13.76*

Basically it locks up every other day so you have to delete the app and reload. Doesn’t like iOS. Didn’t work with Qobuz for 9 months but that’s improved. The developer needs to provide updates for each iOS update ASAP.
Otherwise it’s very slow.
If you’ve bought Linn equipment you’ve handed over a lot of money, so Linn’s neglect of this app shows contempt for their customers.
At least Kinsky (the previous app) didn’t need reinstalling every few days.
Reported the problem to Linn, heard nothing back. They’re obviously not interested once they’ve got your money for the hardware.

### 1/5 — Terrible app

*2020-12-12, version 4.13.74*

After an update for “stability improvement” the app has never crashed more than it does now...(and it crashes constantly anyway)
You’d think these folks have an idea about technology and quality. It is beyond sub standard.

### 1/5 — Linn SW unreliability continues!

*2020-11-30, version 4.13.72*

I updated to Kazoo 4.13.72 (on iOS 12.0) and immediately regretted it. The Linn community has put up with substandard software from Linn for too long.

The app now crashes, freezes and becomes unresponsive. This update has rendered it unusable. Unusable! Warning to Linn users - do not install this junk.

Linn, you really need to reskill your software team. Send them to an academy to learn the basics. Lesson one: Test your effing software.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2020-11-28, version 4.13.72*

Just updated to latest version and Kazoo shuts down after showing initial startup screen. Tried restarting iPhone, to no avail. Very disappointing !

### 1/5 — Awful

*2020-10-22, version 4.13.67*

This is absolutely the worst app ever
For some reason I can’t work out you put on a new album then after one song it reverts back to previous playlist
It’s so frustrating
I wish before spending close on 2k I had tried the app in which case would never have bought
Not surprising get poor ratings

### 1/5 — Can’t control play, pause, stop and track skip

*2020-08-23, version 4.13.66*

No idea what happened here it used to work fine.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Kazoo never misses a beat

*2022-11-16, version 4.15.5*

I have been running Kazoo with two DS players, a server and 200k music tracks for years now with complete reliability. It has fulfilled the promise of network streaming…

### 5/5 — A nice app!

*2020-10-05, version 4.13.67*

Works wonderfully for me, controlling and playing music on a Linn DS streamer. It’s fast and snappy when browsing local and Tidal song libraries. Maintains stable connection, no issues there either. The other reviewer complaining about the app probably has issues in other parts of his network or system.

### 5/5 — Works as good UPnP even without LINN...

*2019-10-25, version 4.13.58*

I’m using this with MooDe on a Raspberry Pi streaming Tidal, sounds a ton better than streaming from an iDevice, and it’s free! UI is basic but easier than putting an LP on 😀
What’s not to like?

### 5/5 — This app works really well now.

*2019-06-07, version 4.13.43*

And it controls non linn streamers.... thanks linn

### 5/5 — love it！

*2018-01-31, version 4.11.256*

I find this to be the best app for Melco, thanks guys for the good app!

### 5/5 — love it

*2017-12-21, version 4.11.252*

great but the volume doesn’t work in the last update

### 4/5 — Not perfect but ......

*2019-10-08, version 4.13.55*

Things are not perfect but when it does work it’s a great tool and it’s FREE! Generally it’s not Kazoo that’s not working but my own WiFi and when it is Kazoo then a quick delete and a fresh download cures it. Tried a £100 a year app to replace it and found I far preferred Kazoo, and its FREE!

### 4/5 — It’s a little quirky but works perfectly.

*2019-07-23, version 4.13.46*

As noted, it takes a while to get used to, coming from Lumin, but the app is solid, never crashed or caused problems. Now I know what I’m doing with it it complements the DS very well.

### 4/5 — Simple Resolution

*2018-12-20, version 4.13.23*

I had a problems which I thought were caused by Kazoo but which were in my system. Kazoo have a ‘Report to Linn’ tab in the Settings section. Try this before writing a bad review and you may save yourself a lot of stress. They were great, and my problems were quickly identified and resolved.

### 4/5 — 2018 review

*2018-04-22, version 4.11.257*

A lot of the reviews reducing this apps ratings refer to very early versions.

I’m rating based on version 4.11.257 in 2018.

It does what it says very well. I use kazoo server on a QNAP NAS to store local files, and I stream via Qobuz. I use tunein radio a lot (classic fm, rai 5). No problems with any part of this - happy customer.

My only gripes are things it doesn’t do. Really I want Apple Music support within kazoo as well as (ie instead of) tidal/Qobuz. if not Apple Music then at least Deezer as an alternative - and no, airplay from my phone doesn’t cut it.

My only other gripe with Linns 2018 software setup is the lack of a native radio wake function. Seriously, why is it only Bose and sonos get this?

I want to wake up to classic fm in the morning, I want to listen to and enjoy it for the 30minutes it’s on before i am finally compelled to leave my pit. There’s no alarm function in any Linn hardware so I own a Bose wave just for this. This is just nuts, I should be able to setup a Linn sneaky in the bedroom, and control a wake up or sleep function from an app, which should be kazoo. For the money Im spending, a sneaky or kiko should be able to do this. If I’m going to have your hardware in the bedroom, it has to do this or it’s not happening. That in turn stalls a multi room install, the point of multi room is one app. ‘One app to bring it all, one app to bind them all, and on my touchscreen combine them.’
