This app seems like a banger , i no longer need to feed lines in , it’s just scans the sides and add the readers voice in. Super cool . The issues began when i tried to self tape . The app won’t always recognize the cue , and not moving forward with the scene, so i needed to start recording from the beginning, till i finally managed to record the whole scene, when i watched it , the AI voice sound glitchy (start quiet and then became louder) and then the then the readers line were overlapped my voice, so as i say my lines , the first half of the line my voice was silent . I’m very disappointed with this, the experience was rather frustrating. I would want to use this app for 10 weeks (absolute minimum) during preparation, rehearsal, and performances for a single play. If I have to keep up the premium subscription to be able to rehearse the full script for that time, I’m paying $60. This app, as impressive as it is, doesn’t provide anywhere near that amount of value. Anything above like $3.99 a month and I’m settling for one of the subscription-free alternatives. I also was not able to upload a (very clean) PDF successfully despite messing around with all the options. The voice recognition is also too permissive of small mistakes. I would like for it to not let me proceed if I paraphrased a few words— the whole point is to memorize my lines perfectly. Even better would be for it to somehow flag the mistake rather than just blocking me. I’ll keep an eye on this app, but for now I won’t be sticking with it. ### 4/5 — Beg Actor *2026-07-21* So far, I like it. Look, it’s a great idea, but it isn’t there yet. And it’s certainly not worth the 10$/month price tag. **Developer response:** Hey Kidsushi45! Callan (Co-founder, Linus) 🧡 ### 4/5 — Love The Application Needs Tuning (adding another star) *2026-07-13* The app is very useful for rehearsal before taping, and right now that’s the only thing I’d recommend it for. In actual auditions, subtext often gets misread, lines get jumbled, and the audio can come out rough. Until the AI becomes more conversational, picking up on nonverbal cues written in the script and the like, I’d say this app puts you at a disadvantage compared to actors who have a real reader. I appreciate how the team continues to work to improve this app. +2 stars from me. **Developer response:** Hi JahKoning, thanks for flagging this! Sometimes it doesn‘t recognize my line and I have to repeat several time and that can be frustrating when you are in the middle of the self tape and dropped in and then it doesn‘t feed you the next line and you have to start from the beginning. Also while self taping with the Iphone and using the App ,it’s very hard to hear the AI voice speaking and I have it on full volume. Also I had it set to one Ai Voice setting but the first line was always a different voice even though I kept going back to the settings to select the voice I had set for all the other lines. This I believe has been fixed. Lastly, the audio for auditions gets scuffed. It is way to quiet. It’s important for casting to hear us. ### 3/5 — good but the limit is annoying *2026-06-06, version 2.3.2* i initially loved this app cause it was allowing me to practice for a self tape, however, when i tried to upload the second page of sides it didn’t work and it wants me to pay 12$ a month. i know it isn’t free, but as a student with a minimum wage job, that’s really annoying. i don’t care money wise, whats more annoying is not being able to upload more than one page of sides😑 ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Stops Picking Up Audio *2026-08-26* About 15-20 seconds into either running lines or attempting to record the scene, the words just will not register or pick up and proceed with the scene. App is updated. Way too glitchy to even consider paying for the premium. **Developer response:** Hey there, Yes - that’s right! We use an AI platform to generate the voices that pays the voice artists every time their voice is used. This increases our running costs substantially, is a trade-off that we are aware of, and have made to protect artists and be ethical in our AI use. But 10 lines is usually enough for an Ad audition! It seems to miss a lot of cues. ### 1/5 — Stopped working *2026-07-19, version 2.4.6* Says voice library loading. I cant use it now. Script uploaded was missing lines. While rehearsing and dating the CORRECT word to advance the scene it hangs up. The voices are robotic. The response time is way too fast, and this is reviewed by who so far? The creators? Terrible. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Changed everything *2026-09-06* This has literally changed everything about my prep 10/10 ### 5/5 — Great line drilling app. *2026-08-22* Used Linus to drill some lines and it was surprising great. Also loved some of the features provided like being able to increase the speed of the reader or add a beat. The app worked great and the accents the app read with was also great allowing me to really hone in on my lines without the stress of bothering a mate or my partner with running lines. Highly recommend. My only recommendation for further improvement would be if the app could detect and give feedback if you missed or slightly changed a line. The app does focus on key words which you can highlight for it to listen keenly for. But would be great if it could let me know if I missed a small bit or a couple words. ### 5/5 — Update: Closes the video out now with new update mid recording *2026-08-18* I used to like this app a lot, I was excited for the lapel mic to be recognized. Now with the new update in the middle of my self tape it closes out my video and I’m staring at a blank screen! At like 15 seconds in! What the heck! No matter what I do. This is devastating to me. Update: I never knew it was honoring my Phone Screen Lock setting, which it never did before. I had to turn it off manually. However Linus has already got back to me to let me know the latest update has fixed this issue because it never should have been doing that in the first place. Glad to know they are always reading the reviews and updating as necessary. Thank you! Before, my readers were sporadic and sometimes I even did my own reading, but now, they are always as excited to shoot an audition as me! If you are looking for a reader app, but wait, there is more…. Not only can you use this app as a reader app, you can use it to learn lines, edit a script…so many uses. If it is not apparent I really like this app, then let me say, me and Linus are getting to be best friends! Update: having turned in auditions using Linus, I now have an agent. Not saying Linus will get you an agent, but it will help you to get those auditions out in a timely manner, and more auditions means more possibilities of bookings! I really enjoy the loop feature when I have the opportunity to play with many takes, it also means I am running my lines over and over.
