### 4/5 — Great content

*2025-02-12*

The account management didn't work well, I have now a second payed account as the first only work on my old smartphone. I never got any answer on any support mail I wrote. It's just a good company, earning money...

### 3/5 — Does the job, but…

*2023-10-17*

…no dark mode is available, and it’s a mystery why some digital issues are not available for offline reading.

### 4/5 — Good App, Great Content!

*2023-05-27*

Three things would elevate the reading experience in the app, in my view: 1) have a dark mode and/or sepia background option to make it easier on the eyes while reading, 2) have a highlighting option and 3) have a dictionary option to look up unfamiliar terminology. Looking forward to future enhancements in the app!

### 4/5 — Great content

*2022-12-28*

Great content. I subscribe to the print version to leave in waiting rooms at the hospital where I work. Then I read the digital version on my iPad. It’s nice to have bookmarks. One thing that is irritating is constantly having to login to my account. Seems like o need to login every time. App needs a remember me on this device button or Face ID.

### 3/5 — Accessibility issues

*2020-10-23*

I would be incredibly grateful if this app could be made easier to use for those of us with severe sight problems. A reader option to change the size of the print and better accessibility with screen readers would really help.

### 5/5 — Stop the World to experience the Now

*2020-10-12, version 18.0*

Opening this allows you to shift gears...

### 3/5 — improvement needed

*2020-05-22*

Great content, but platform needs improvement. Please update to improve performance and function better.

### 5/5 — Both is best!

*2020-04-24*

I subscribe to both the electronic and print versions. I enjoy getting the portability of the digital version; as I don’t have slot of time. When I do have the time to read it, the articles get me emotionally back to where I belong; usually when I need it most - be it in a waiting room, waiting in my car for a food order, or taking a whimsical moment waiting for my kitchen timer to go off.

I do wish, however there could be a Kindle version of the same to bring it full circle.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2019-12-05*

Insightful, accessible, and user-friendly, I high recommend this app for anyone wishing to know more about themselves, others, and the world around them.

### 5/5 — Purely Ground Reads

*2019-11-13*

Take a beep breath in through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Relax... Lions Roar is my respite from the pain the my local news agency reports. Read, Reflect, Relax.

### 4/5 — Excellent app

*2019-03-12*

I love lions roar — I read it every day. One way I think the app could be improved is if the same tabs available on desktop/mobile were implemented. For example, I frequent the “Teachings” tab on desktop/mobile, but the app does not have this; I am limited to the top stories or to searching for articles with the search bar. Adding the same tabs would streamline everything and make it more user-friendly.

### 5/5 — Excellent source

*2018-08-05*

Whether your new to the ideas of mindfulness and Buddhism or a long time practitioner, this is the magazine for you. It is always the first magazine I read and “cover to cover”.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App is buggy

*2025-11-27*

For a while, I was able to access all current articles and archives. Then app stopped accepting my credentials. Not much help from customer care so far. Disappointing. Can read on website, but not app. The app and customer care really give you many opportunities to practice patience.

### 1/5 — Unfortunately does not work

*2025-01-17, version 20.0*

This app looked very interesting and promising to me, but I was unable to subscribe. When I tapped the $11.99 subscription button, I got a spinning wheel for a second and then nothing else happened. I tried writing support, but the message would not send because the app claimed I didn’t have an active email address. I am unable to use the app at all because of these bugs I’m running into.

### 1/5 — Digital subscription is a scam

*2021-11-17*

Don't waste your money on a digital subscription. The only benefit is the ability to bookmark articles you like. I have been unable to access the digital subscription I pad for since June 2021 and subscriber services has done nothing to resolve the issue or reimburse me for the inaccessible subscription.

### 1/5 — Can’t log in to app

*2019-03-30*

App is broken, love the magazine but cannnot access it on my iPad.

### 1/5 — Old subscriber out of luck

*2018-01-25*

I have been a digital subscriber for a long time, now I can’t access my old issues with this app or view new ones. I have 6 months left on my sub..but no new issues and no refund? New issues requires a re-sub...at $10 more per year price increase and still not able access my old issues? Disappointed.

### 1/5 — Terrible experience.

*2018-01-11*

At some point in 2017 this app stopped working for me. Unlike some people leaving reviews, I never got any kind of communication from Lion’s Roar. I did go to their website and saw some notice that the app was being upgraded and wouldn’t function in the meantime (as an aside, what kind of I.T. leadership does this magazine have that totally abandoning your existing app/platform is acceptable while you prepare a new one?). I knew that my subscription through iTunes was ending anyway so I resubscribed directly from LR for a digital subscription after being assured by a customer service rep that the app would be functional in time for the January issue. But that ended up not being true, so I called to cancel and get a refund. All I can get is a prorated refund even though I have not received one issue under my new subscription. The rep I spoke to said they hoped to have the app ready by the end of this week. It’s Thursday, so I’m not confident in that timeline. I went ahead with my partial refund knowing I will never pay a dime to this magazine again. Maybe I’ll go read the issues at a Barnes and Noble while having coffee.

### 1/5 — Useless right now, No Issues appear

*2018-01-07, version 1.0.12*

This app is useless right now. Issues won’t even load. I’ve already tried to delete and reinstall. Still doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2018-01-01*

The app has been broken for several weeks now. It won’t load any magazine articles, old nor new. At first I thought this was temporary as the foundation sent out an email saying they were updating something on the backend. However, it’s been several weeks and the app still doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — This app is non functional

*2017-12-31, version 1.0.12*

As stated above.

### 1/5 — Used to be a great app but does not work

*2017-12-22*

Does not display any content after startup.

### 5/5 — A little buggy

*2023-12-31*

I love Lion’s Roar, and consider it a privilege to be able to help support. Just want to mention that the app still has a few bugs to work out 🙏

### 5/5 — Lion Roaring

*2023-02-02*

The Voice does the Buddhas work. So many wise and authentic words in this magazine . I read an article and some times try and use it in my life or think who can I share it with. Started reading May 2021 issue again Detox The Mind is what I need to be doing Plum Village is my on line guide so grateful for life and everyone who supports my practice . A long with “ Buddha at the Gas Pump” my internet usage is complete, well almost add BBC news and sport and YouTube.

### 5/5 — Excellent publication and app.

*2022-09-12, version 19.0*

I get the magazine and use the app as well. Superior content.

### 5/5 — Wisdom

*2022-03-05, version 19.0*

I learn a lot from lions roar and I get a lot of wisdom from reading the articles

### 5/5 — Present…

*2021-12-04*

Through this ap, I can read anytime, gain inspiration, share that inspiration and joyously move on into the next thing… thank you lion’s roar

### 5/5 — Excellent distillation of Buddhist teachings

*2021-05-18*

Lion’s Roar does a superb job of presenting articles and points of view that capture the essence of Buddhist teachings in a concise way. As a Unitarian Universalist minister who is deeply informed by Buddhism and increasingly drawn to Buddhist spiritual practices, I am most grateful for this resource.

### 5/5 — Tweeting or posting

*2021-04-24*

This app is great The only thing it’s having a hard time tweeting or posting thank you . Semper Fi 🙏

### 5/5 — A Buddhist treasure trove

*2020-11-29*

Lion’s Roar is a haven for the experience practitioner and very helpful for people attracted to The Way who are looking for guidance.

Articles cater to readers on all levels and are nourishing, soul filling, helpful and not all all dry. LR reaches into surprising areas of life and recognises also that lay Buddhists are everywhere.

In all cases LR helps the newer and intermediate reader deepen their practice.

Thanks so much
