## What is lire?

Love RSS feeds? So do we!!

RSS feeds are a great way to follow updates on your favorite website. However, some sites set up their feeds to only show a portion of each entry, you know, to get you to click through to their actual website. We find that really annoying, and we're sure you do too.

Which is why, unlike other RSS feed readers, that either push you into a browser (in-app or otherwise), or depend on third party text parsing services and require you to be online to fetch the full text of one article at a time (which makes it no different from having to click/tap through to a website), in lire, you get your favorite RSS feeds as they should've been. You don't need to click through to any website (though, you do still have the option to, if you really wanted). It takes your favorite partial feeds, does its magic, and converts them in to full feeds, so you don't have to click/tap on those annoying 'Read more' or 'Continue reading' links.

Once they're cached, you don't even need to be connected to read your full-text feeds.

Use as a standalone feed reader, sync with iCloud,

or,

sync with any of the several services: Feedly, Feedbin, FeedHQ, The Old Reader, Inoreader, BazQux Reader, Newsblur, Feed Wrangler, FreshRSS, Miniflux, Nextcloud News, Tiny Tiny RSS.

### 1/5 — Sync is frozen

*2026-06-11*

Sync with BazQux is frozen after changing password and email. Can’t logout.

Still frozen after a few years

**Developer response:** Apologies for the inconvenience. I'll be happy to help you fix this if you could email me: mail@lireapp.com.

### 4/5 — Better Hot Links and Calm Feed Options

*2026-05-18, version 6.3.14*

App is great and really enjoy how it offers additional features like hot links and calm feeds. However there could be a few improvements like excluding feeds from the calm list and better integration of X.com links in Hot feed. Right now if many articles use the same X post in the article the link to the post won’t open or it doesn’t show what the post is about.

### 2/5 — So many interface bugs

*2026-05-13*

Overlapping text, not remembering which category or feed I was in when reopening the app, slow fetching of new articles.

### 5/5 — Wait… What?

*2026-04-24, version 6.3.12*

I’ve been using Inoreader for about two years now and generally love it. But the full-version price is insane for what it is and although the free version is generous, I just can’t justify that kind of ‘subscription’ spend. Recent bugs (especially with YouTube videos) has caused quite a bit of frustration, enough just to tempt me to search the App Store. I took a punt on this RSS reader - actually attracted with it being a purchasable product! So far I’ve been blown away at how solid this app is. It’s not put a step wrong. If the developers keep this at a fair price, with this sort of functionality and reliability, I’m sure this will overtake the big two RSS apps in the App Store. Keep doing what you’re doing please!

### 2/5 — Awful AI summaries

*2026-04-19, version 6.3.12*

That’s what you get for relying on Apple “AI”. They are notoriously incapable of anythjng AI related. You need to do byok or self host options. Ridiculous, but I guess this does let you check the “now with AI!” box.

### 5/5 — TOP App!

*2026-04-09*

### 5/5 — One of if not the best

*2026-04-04*

Perfect for my need. Not the best on every aspect, but to me the best all around. I wish we could apply themes, especially something "sepia-ish" and the opposite for bedtime reading.

### 4/5 — Looking forward to AI-powered summary

*2026-03-23, version 6.3.11*

This RSS app is excellent—clean, fast, and genuinely enjoyable to use. The reading experience feels thoughtfully designed.

That said, I’d really love to see support for configuring third-party AI for summaries. Being able to plug in custom models or services would make it far more powerful and flexible for different workflows.

### 3/5 — Buggy on iOS 26 still

*2026-03-21*

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. iOS 26 hasn’t been entirely stable but Lire is the most unstable app by far. It just crashes every other time I open the app (no refresh) or when I refresh and literally wait or open an error notice.

There really needs to be a real manual clear cache button because this is wild to be this unstable this long after iOS 26 dropped.

### 5/5 — the rss reader that i have been using for over 5 years

*2026-03-15*

am loving the new version and especially the summarization support - really awesome - thank you!!
---
i love this rss reader - i use it with feedly.
i am a voiceover user and this app works perfectly with voiceover.
it has plenty of options to customize what is read and in what order and for that i am very thankful.
the articles are formatted to remove ads and allow simple reading and that works 99pct of the time.
i would buy this app over and over again

my dad is old and very frustrated with news websites and all the garbage and pop ups and this thankfully has allowed our senior to just focus on the news
