### 4/5 — Better Hot Links and Calm Feed Options

*2026-05-18, version 6.3.14*

App is great and really enjoy how it offers additional features like hot links and calm feeds. However there could be a few improvements like excluding feeds from the calm list and better integration of X.com links in Hot feed. Right now if many articles use the same X post in the article the link to the post won’t open or it doesn’t show what the post is about.

### 2/5 — So many interface bugs

*2026-05-13*

Overlapping text, not remembering which category or feed I was in when reopening the app, slow fetching of new articles.

### 2/5 — Awful AI summaries

*2026-04-19, version 6.3.12*

That’s what you get for relying on Apple “AI”. They are notoriously incapable of anythjng AI related. You need to do byok or self host options. Ridiculous, but I guess this does let you check the “now with AI!” box.

### 4/5 — Looking forward to AI-powered summary

*2026-03-23, version 6.3.11*

This RSS app is excellent—clean, fast, and genuinely enjoyable to use. The reading experience feels thoughtfully designed.

That said, I’d really love to see support for configuring third-party AI for summaries. Being able to plug in custom models or services would make it far more powerful and flexible for different workflows.

### 3/5 — Buggy on iOS 26 still

*2026-03-21*

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max. iOS 26 hasn’t been entirely stable but Lire is the most unstable app by far. It just crashes every other time I open the app (no refresh) or when I refresh and literally wait or open an error notice.

There really needs to be a real manual clear cache button because this is wild to be this unstable this long after iOS 26 dropped.

### 3/5 — Offten causes the iPhone to become very hot

*2026-03-13, version 6.3.10*

Offten causes the iPhone to become very hot

### 4/5 — Großartig

*2026-03-05*

Wirklich gut!

### 4/5 — More customizations options

*2026-02-18*

I just purchased Lire after spending years on Reeder. I like Lire and the ease of use it offers. I’d like to see more customization options however, especially for the article list. But great job. Great app.

### 2/5 — Bloody mess

*2026-02-01*

This app was my favorite RSS reader supporting iCloud sync for quite a long time. Sometime in the past month or two, it has turned into a bloody mess. It almost always crashes on launch and then will launch on the next attempt. Navigating to feeds frequently results in a different feed showing. Or the right feed showing under the wrong feed’s heading. Sometimes articles simply won’t open but change from unread to read. Sometimes it overlays multiple section headers overtop of themselves making them appear as a jumble of overlaid text. Just insane behavior! Happening on multiple devices even after reinstalls. I thought it was a bug that would get fixed quickly but it has been at least 45 days since these issues started. Looking for a new client now.

### 3/5 — Crash!!!

*2026-01-30, version 6.3.9*

Return after opening webview

### 2/5 — Good features but crashes constantly

*2026-01-25, version 6.3.9*

I got this to replace Reeder but I’m having issues with constant crashing. Every time I open the app, it crashes. It can’t keep articles in memory and when I switch back from another app it crashes, I change a setting… it crashes. It’s annoying for such a well appointed RSS app. I hope the crashes are fixed so I can 5 star it.

### 3/5 — Crashes on Open

*2026-01-03, version 6.3.8*

Newest update crashes on update. App is unusable.

### 2/5 — Missing key features

*2025-12-12, version 6.3.6*

I purchased the app for both iOS and macOS after seeing solid reviews from various sources. I’m using it on an iPhone 15PM, and M4 MacBook Pro - both on their latest respective OS versions.

I was surprised to see a few features that seemed intuitive to me, which aren’t present.

1) Bulk unsubscriptions. The app came pre-subscribed to various feeds, all of which I wanted to unsubscribe from. It took a few minutes to do this, with lots of menu clicking. Given the app is quite slick, I was surprised how clunky and how much clicking I had to do here - I couldn’t even CMD+click on multiple feeds and right click + delete.

2) Similar to above, I had about 12 science publication feeds I wanted to subscribe to from various publishers. There was no way to paste in multiple feed URLs at the same time to add them all at once. On one website I did find that if I clicked their “subscribe” button, it could open in Lire and it had 2 options I could click and then subscribe to 2 feeds - it’s conceivable I could have made a custom .html file, had my 12 feeds correctly put into a subscribe button, and this may have worked.

However, despite the link I mentioned above opening in Lire and then giving me the option to subscribe to 2 feeds, trying to add either of them simple caused the app to hang indefinitely until Force-quit.

3) The app comes pre-configured with a folder/item that offers to filter my complete feed by authors it finds automatically. This is great, though with about 600 authors in my feed it’s a bit too granular for my use. What I can’t work out how to do, is to make my own custom filters. For example, across my 12 (and growing) list of feeds, there are about 300 items per week, if not more. Only a small subset of those, featuring keywords I would like to be able to specify, are actually of interest to me.

Given the author filter seems to exist, it’s surprising to me that the backend of this hasn’t been extended to keyword filters the user can set up. Perhaps it has been, and I just can’t find it?

I contacted the developer in October 2025 regarding the points above, and did not hear anything more.

### 3/5 — I wanted to love it

*2025-12-04, version 6.3.5*

Lire was my pick in the middle of 2025 when I needed a new RSS reader. I had been swapping Reeder 5 and then the new Reeder throughout 2024-2025 and neither really fit my needs. Lire looked elegant and had most of the features I wanted without a subscription. However, this thing is a storage space hog and takes forever to sync. I opened the app today (Dec 3) to find that it had reverted back to September 2025 articles. I can’t do anything in the app until it finishes syncing and can’t see if it’s making progress. I’ll come back one day if there’s an improvement.

### 4/5 — Amazing RSS reader (some suggestions)

*2025-11-29*

This is one of the best RSS readers in iOS. Small improvement for me would be a one tap button to switch between “Full text view” and “Feed item view” only in the current feed while keeping the main view mode intact. Currently if you switch to a new view mode it will persist for the following feeds too. I like to open feeds in “Feed item view” and if i need to get to more content by only one tap I could get the full content just for that feed.

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2025-11-03, version 6.3.2*

This is a wonderful app, works great and allows you to go through your news items quickly and easily. The developer is active and responsive.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2025-11-01*

This is the best RSS app I’ve ever used.
However, I’d like an option so that when the feed is refreshed, the feed list doesn’t automatically scroll back to the top but stays at the position of the article I was reading. After updating, I want to continue reading articles in chronological order starting from the one I was just reading, instead of jumping to the newest post.

### 5/5 — Superb

*2025-10-31, version 6.3.2*

Excellent rss reader. Easily my favourite and have tried many!

I’d love iCloud sync of settings and preferences.

One other feature that would be amazing is using the onboard Apple foundational ai to cluster similar articles in a folder. A lot of tech outlets repeat the same news so would be nice to see them grouped/clustered together.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Sync is frozen

*2026-06-11*

Sync with BazQux is frozen after changing password and email. Can’t logout.

Still frozen after a few years

**Developer response:** Apologies for the inconvenience. I'll be happy to help you fix this if you could email me: mail@lireapp.com.

### 1/5 — Bugs

*2026-02-24*

Used to be great but became very buggy in the past months. Moving to another app now.

### 1/5 — Is it finished app?

*2025-10-26, version 6.3.2*

After importing the feeds, the app reports thousands of errors and then crashes. I haven’t noticed any interesting features. Wasted money

### 1/5 — Storage destroyer

*2025-05-02, version 6.2.1*

If you have cloud storage enabled it will remember every article ever downloaded. It will keep images for every article viewed read or not. There is no way to clear articles out that are old, so after 1 year it has almost 100gb of data. You can’t switch to non-cloud either at this point as export of opml is broken so the app becomes useless. There is a clear images, but it is also broken and the app will crash.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2025-04-11, version 6.2.0*

…all the time after recent updates. :(

### 1/5 — Schlechtester RSS Reader überhaupt

*2025-02-25*

### 1/5 — Wanted to like it

*2025-02-23, version 6.1.14*

The app almost always fails to fetch the full text, and often crashes when trying to load articles. Also, setting up your subscriptions is a pain the a

### 1/5 — Se cierra al entrar

*2025-01-19, version 6.1.14*

He escrito a soporte y nada.

### 1/5 — FreshRSS doesn’t work

*2024-11-30, version 6.1.14*

I tried to configure this app with FreshRSS but I receive an “The internet connection appears to be offline.” error message.

My device is clearly able to connect to both the internet and the RSS application itself (if I browse the API endpoint via Safari or other RSS application).

This app is clearly well designed and beautiful but at the moment does not work with FreshRSS despite being advertised as it does.

### 1/5 — Garbage App

*2024-11-20, version 6.1.14*

….can’t read dates in feeds and my “newest” items are dated 2300.

UI is convoluted and non-intuitive.

I regret purchasing it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wait… What?

*2026-04-24, version 6.3.12*

I’ve been using Inoreader for about two years now and generally love it. But the full-version price is insane for what it is and although the free version is generous, I just can’t justify that kind of ‘subscription’ spend. Recent bugs (especially with YouTube videos) has caused quite a bit of frustration, enough just to tempt me to search the App Store. I took a punt on this RSS reader - actually attracted with it being a purchasable product! So far I’ve been blown away at how solid this app is. It’s not put a step wrong. If the developers keep this at a fair price, with this sort of functionality and reliability, I’m sure this will overtake the big two RSS apps in the App Store. Keep doing what you’re doing please!

### 5/5 — TOP App!

*2026-04-09*

### 5/5 — One of if not the best

*2026-04-04*

Perfect for my need. Not the best on every aspect, but to me the best all around. I wish we could apply themes, especially something "sepia-ish" and the opposite for bedtime reading.

### 5/5 — the rss reader that i have been using for over 5 years

*2026-03-15*

am loving the new version and especially the summarization support - really awesome - thank you!!
---
i love this rss reader - i use it with feedly.
i am a voiceover user and this app works perfectly with voiceover.
it has plenty of options to customize what is read and in what order and for that i am very thankful.
the articles are formatted to remove ads and allow simple reading and that works 99pct of the time.
i would buy this app over and over again

my dad is old and very frustrated with news websites and all the garbage and pop ups and this thankfully has allowed our senior to just focus on the news

### 5/5 — Wonderful app

*2025-12-01, version 6.3.5*

Wonderful app to read the rss-feeds. Very handy filters to parse articles. And fantastic support - if one of the parsers does not work optimally, you can write the maintainer and it is fixed within a few days.

### 5/5 — Lire is just awesome!

*2025-11-26, version 6.3.4*

Been using this app for a month or so now and absolutely love it! Clean UI, superb accessibility and quick access to news. Thank you, thank you! Keep up a good job!

### 5/5 — Great work. Keep it up.

*2025-11-12*

Thank you for fixing error 153. I'm still a huge fan of this app. Great work. Keep it up.

### 5/5 — Tried them all, this is the best

*2025-11-11*

Title says it all. Lire does what many rss readers try to do (get full article contents) but can’t. It’s not an easy problem to solve, and it probably is a constant moving target for a dev, but this dev pulls it off. Can’t believe what good value this is, I’ve used it for at least a year now. Also with the opening of apples Foundation models it can do article summaries, and you can customize the prompt. Very handy for saving time. Overall one of the more stable apps as well, very rarely have any issues.

### 5/5 — Wait… What?

*2025-11-06, version 6.3.3*

I’ve been using Inoreader for about two years now and generally love it. But the full-version price is insane for what it is and although the free version is generous, I just can’t justify that kind of ‘subscription’ spend.
