### 4/5 — Awesome, with a suggestion

*2024-08-13*

Awesome app! I do have a suggestion though: I’m not a fan of how the article title cuts off in a bubble. For example, “ Is it possible you could add a text size adjustment thing in the settings? The native iOS text size thing doesn’t work with it.

### 4/5 — Long time user

*2021-11-26, version 1*

I found this program online back in 2012-13ish, and still have it bookmarked but the app is such a great thing!! There are a few thing that are a little wonky, but I still love this app and use it a few times a week. It’s a great tool for when I’m writing papers, great ‘flow-state’ sound.

### 4/5 — Lovely but no longer compatible

*2021-09-26, version 1*

It's like listening to a wind chime, interesting and abstract. I hope the developer can update it to work on ios 14 & 15.

### 4/5 — Great, but

*2019-01-22, version 1*

don’t use this to fall asleep to if you use your phone’s alarm to wake up. Your alarm won’t make sound. Good for background noise during the day though.

### 4/5 — Great but could use tweaks

*2016-05-22, version 1*

I experienced the same higher pitch from the desktop version that others are reporting. Also I found that if I have my phone in vibrate mode (not silent!) the music doesn't play, where other apps still do and that's pretty annoying.

### 5/5 — Incredible!!!

*2016-04-14, version 1*

The best use of what has evolved into our non-stop internet information consumption ... A MUST download!!!

### 4/5 — Very serene

*2015-09-20, version 1*

Calming and and satisfying, the feeling that all this progress is being made is uplifting.
It would be great if there was some settings in there to make it an alarm clock. I'd love to wake up to the sound of human progress.

### 5/5 — Perfect example of what community can do

*2015-07-11, version 1*

I play this each morning before I start my day to put me in a relaxed state. It would be great yoga background music!

### 3/5 — So good but...

*2015-06-30, version 1*

I love to listen to this on my computer so I was glad to find that there was an app for it too. My only problem is that the pitch is higher than it is on the computer and it puts me a bit on edge

### 5/5 — Simply Beautiful

*2015-04-29, version 1*

This app is perfect for studying, relaxing, or for which to fall asleep. I use it a lot for going to bed. Really helps calm the mind because it is random enough, but not with too many different types of sound.

### 3/5 — Needs lock screen functionality.

*2015-04-24, version 1*

Amazing concept. But I think the app would be far more useful for background noise while working if the sounds continued to play while the phone is locked. Please tell me this is something you have in the works.

Also, I feel like the noises are more high pitched than the normal website version.

### 4/5 — Soothing

*2015-04-23, version 1*

I love this. Greatest wish is for it to play in the background. This is a fantastic work soundtrack.

### 1/5 — Don’t work

*2026-03-08, version 1.1.1*

The app doesn’t work on my phone

### 1/5 — Not working

*2026-03-06, version 1.1.1*

Might be good if it actually worked!

iPhone 15 Pro
iOS 26.3.1

### 1/5 — No longer works

*2021-05-15, version 1*

IPadOS 14.5.1 will no longer start this app. In fact I think it has been deleted. When you try to open it from the App Store you get a message that the app is incompatible with the current version of the OS and needs to be updated by its maker. In fact it has been warning me about this for awhile, I just didn’t know which update was going to kill it. So sad! I was just about to show it to someone too. Please update! Thanks!

### 1/5 — Nothing like the web version

*2019-07-28, version 1*

When listening to the side by side to the website the instruments in the app sound like a smaller instrument with a higher pitch and less length to the note. Short, quick, pitchy, sporadic and clustered is the best way to describe it.

### 1/5 — No sound

*2017-07-15, version 1*

Could not get sound out of the app and was pulling my hair out trying to understand why. Then I realized the ringer volume toggle switch was off. I always keep it off as I make my phone vibrate for calls and no other app has problems playing music or sound with the switch in that position. This needs to be fixed.
Also, the bells sound much more jarring (high pitched?) for some reason than the web based version.

### 1/5 — E

*2014-07-07*

Looks great but I can't get the sound to work. Please help.

### 2/5 — Web version is more soothing

*2016-10-05, version 1*

I ADORE the concept of hatnote wikipedia but the app is not soothing as the web version and I'd love it if it kept playing when my phone goes to sleep.

### 2/5 — Needs tweaking, desktop version is better

*2015-12-05, version 1*

This app is amazing and sounds beautiful on the web/desktop version, but there's something wrong with this app version that makes the pitch way too high and the same super high notes play wayyy too often, making it sound annoying instead of calming and beautiful. Please fix it and I'll change my rating to 5 stars! :)

### 2/5 — Unique

*2014-12-12, version 1*

...but dumb.

It just shows bubbles for recent edits on Wikipedia, that's it.

At least improve the app by opening an article in a built in browser instead of constantly opening the article in Safari! 😒

### 3/5 — Very cool

*2017-05-23, version 1*

Very cool app based on a very cool concept. Would be nice if it worked from the background or lock screen as well though. Not everyone keeps their phone plugged in and leaving the screen on can drain battery pretty quick.

### 5/5 — Not working

*2026-05-01, version 2.0.0*

Might be good if it actually worked!

iPhone 15 Pro
iOS 26.3.1

Received a note from the author suggesting I download an update and everything works perfectly now!

THANK YOU!

### 5/5 — Here it is: your moment of Zen.

*2026-03-11, version 1.1.1*

The pentatonic scale is very soothing. I downloaded this app during the pandemic, and I'm glad it is still working and being supported today. In these uncertain and anxious times, it's refreshing to have basic apps that do exactly what they say, and nothing more.

### 5/5 — Great app, but please fix this bug.

*2026-03-05, version 1.1.1*

Listen to Wikipedia is a great app, I've been using everyday for years as a crude substitute for a lava-lamp because finding a stores that sell a consistent supply of light-bulbs for them can be problematic. But I would like to suggest a few tweaks. The first and biggest is to include the number of edits being done per-minute like on the website and the option to refresh the app instead of having to reboot it everytime it stops making sound. And also I would really appreciate it if you could please fix the most recent bug with the mobile app. While the website is still functioning fine, the mobile app hasn't been making sound since between 02:30 and 03:00 am last night. I would really appreciate it if you address that bug and have it fixed. Other than that, I really love the Listen to Wikipedia app.

### 5/5 — Thank you!

*2022-12-23, version 1.1*

Thanks for maintaining your classic app. I thought it was mothballed, and was pleasantly surprised to find you updated it. I really like how you reflect changes in Wikipedia with tones. Happy holidays!

### 5/5 — Update

*2022-04-21, version 1*

Loved this app but it needs an update to work with a newer ios.

### 5/5 — Needs support on newer devices

*2021-06-30, version 1*

I had this on my old phone but now it doesn’t work anymore :(

### 5/5 — Calming

*2020-04-16, version 1*

This is incredibly calming to have on my headphones while filtering out other noises. The sound is not quite as pleasant as it was when you could stream it through your Internet browser, but that function no longer works. This is a good replacement for now. I turned all of the languages on so that I would get a more vibrant stream of sounds. I would pay for this. It keeps me sane.

### 5/5 — Great for focusing

*2019-01-03, version 1*

I love this idea and the app for “music” that helps me focus.

### 5/5 — COOL! support Korean language please.

*2018-09-17, version 1*

The app is cool, but I will thank you if you add korean in language list.

### 5/5 — Serenity

*2016-04-20, version 1*

Such a relaxing app, and if you turn on edits for every language, it can really be a relaxing and moving experience!
