### 5/5 — Love this app!

*2016-12-31*

Planned everything needed for two anniversary open houses and a graduation open house with this app. I also use for vacation packing lists, and to keep track of books we want to read or movie ideas for the family. For open houses, I could mark who was doing what, and email the lists to others (even if they didn't have the app or a smart phone) to let them know how plans were progressing. Love, love this app - it keeps me sane - and I hope the writers continue to support it with updates.

### 5/5 — Love this thing

*2014-05-29*

What do I like:
- many levels of lists
- rating system
- colors are irrelevant
- Doses NOT link to calenda

Dislikes:
- no reminder alerts
- can't schedule multiple says

### 5/5 — Outstanding Checklist Program

*2014-03-28*

ListMonger is an outstanding checklist program. Has nearly any feature you could want and then some. It's simple to use, yet has much depth. I highly recommend it!

Still, that always some unique features certain users such as myself would like to have.

Two I would desperately like to see implemented in a future version are a (1) "lock checkbox" and/or (2) "one-time only" features, as follows:

Certain checklists I reuse daily include one-time only entries, which I don't want erased/cleared with "clear all checks in this list" after they've been selected. (1) This would be a manual way of locking/unlocking the checkbox, perhaps next to the "Check" option in the Detail View (and using the same small lock icon used for password protection). With (2) the checkbox simply locks automatically upon selecting this option.

Another VERY handy feature would be the addition of some method to also "clear all checks in this list, inc. nested" from the selection point and downwards.

Many thanks for creating such a wonderful checkless program. I look forward to seeing what the next version includes. Cheers!

### 5/5 — Super App

*2014-02-20, version 4.0*

Really useful app with multiple different use's. Love it, thank you.

### 4/5 — Have tried them all

*2013-12-04*

Total list junkie. Have spent way too much money and time trying to find the perfect app. ListMonger is the best. Moved to first page of phone. Used every day. Love it. Keep up the great work

### 5/5 — I keep this on the front page of my iPhone

*2013-12-03*

LM is one of my favorite applications. I use it almost every single day. I use it to keep lists of the things I've done during the year. I keep track of all of the movies I've seen, my favorite albums, plays that I've seen, my favorite scotches that I've tried throughout the year and so on. It's a great way to keep a running list of things like groceries and things that I need to do throughout the day. I've also started to use it to take notes. As I've got a presentation coming up I use it to jott down the main ideas that I want to cover. It's awesome because at any point during the day when A thought hits me I can just add it to a list. The uses for this app are endless. I've been a user for many years and I'm excited about the latest update!

### 5/5 — Rock Solid!

*2013-12-01, version 4.0*

I've used ListMonger since the day it was released in the app store. I've bought several hundreds of dollars worth of apps and most of them have been deleted, but not ListMonger. It is my mainstay. It keeps my obsessive compulsive life organized. It is the best app, bar none. And the developer's web page, especially the videos, is also the best. So many so called "support pages" are blank, but his are chock-full of information and how-tos. Everything he does is 1st class.

If you are looking for the perfect, versatile app to organize everything from your grocery list to your daily to-do list, look no further.

Update: 12/01
An early Christmas present for my iPad mini. This is still the best "productivity" app in the App Store! Thanks to the developer for bringing my favorite app into the land of iOS 7.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2013-12-01*

THANK YOU, thank you, many thanks for New Icon and great update! Have used this for three years and is always on my home page. Many fields and sort options. I use colors for sorting within a list. Great for listing items with order numbers from my coop. Sub lists and nesting goes on forever. Great for creating family trees and birthdays. The new email options are a nice update. Thanks for great app.

### 5/5 — EXCELLENT LIST APP!!!

*2013-06-13, version 3.1*

Does everything I need it to including nesting lists. The interface is clean, professional and the app itself is stable and reliable. I truly love it and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone needing a powerful but easy to use list app.

### 5/5 — SIMPLY AMAZING!!

*2013-05-23, version 3.1*

I have tried many checklist apps available from iTunes. This is without doubt the best! Extremely well thought out and easy to use. The only improvement would be to allow notes edititing on a bigger screen.

### 4/5 — Great App, could use a couple of extras

*2013-05-06, version 3.1*

I like this App a lot. However, as others have noted, it lacks some key features:

- ability to sync across devices, via DropBox or other approach

- ability to reset the view and filter settings for an entire list and associated subsists

### 4/5 — Love the nested lists!

*2012-12-19, version 3.1*

I like to create packing lists for trips. As a part of that, I like to itemize the contents of each bag that gets loaded in the car, including bags within bags. The multiply nested sublist capability of ListMonger is perfect for that.

The only thing I'd really like to see added is automatic syncing of lists between my devices via iCloud or Dropbox or some other cloud service. The app would have gotten 5 stars from me if it weren't for that omission.

### 5/5 — Fast

*2012-12-06, version 3.1*

Great for making quick lists for shopping, gift ideas, or whatever I need to remember. I like it because it's fast to bring up and enter new items -- when I remember something I usually have my phone there to jot it down.

I leave common items on the grocery list and just check/uncheck them as they're needed. Then I keep the unchecked items at the top of the list.

It would be great if it had an option to auto-sort by checked items, although pressing the check sort button is relatively easy.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-10-21, version 3.0*

Great app. Does everything I need today. As others have mentioned, a Sync capability between devices, with or without iCloud, would be much appreciated !!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2012-10-06, version 3.0*

I've tried a couple list making apps and this one is best. Lists are easy to create, modify and move. Lists are easy to read when done, easy to sort. I use this app A LOT and love it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — FAR too complicated to use !

*2009-10-18, version 0*

I tried to figure out how to use this app but got hopelessly lost.
I went to the developers website and tried to follow the videos posted there, but even they are made too hard to follow. After watching them several times without getting anywhere I gave up. Thinking that maybe it was me that was at fault, I asked a friend to try the app, but he also gave up after an hour, shaking his head in despair after getting nowhere.
The developer has made a common mistake. Because HE knows how to use it, he assumes that EVERYONE can - NOT SO ! Unless you have a very high IQ, I would suggest trying a different GTD that doesn't require a university degree to understand !

### 2/5 — Good and bad

*2012-01-13, version 3.0*

Good list manager if you only want to use it on one device. Bad backup/restore system if you have two devices - iPhone and iPad. You have to be sitting at a computer and upload a file to it then download that file to the other device. I guess I'm just spoiled by 2Do's extra simple method - press Sync and you're done. Sorry, it's just too annoying to keep two devices synced so I stopped using it.

### 2/5 — not iPad compatible

*2011-06-05, version 2.0*

Although the app store states the app is compatible with iPad, it only runs in the iPhone mode. It is not a universal app. this really limits utility of what looks like a nice app.

### 3/5 — It's good, but could be great

*2014-07-31*

I've always liked this app. It's got a lot of great qualities, but falls short in certain user experience areas. It's just awkward to sort for example. Yes, you can sort, but if you want to sort by title for example, you have to go through the sort process after every entry. Awkward and inefficient. This is but one of the many oddities of the app. Search is another, as it doesn't seem to be universal. If I have sublists, I want the search to find what I'm looking for when I search in the mother list, even if what I'm looking for is 3 lists deep. Odd, odd and more odd.

Like I said, I like the app, don't use it regularly anymore, don't have it on my home page anymore either. I now find it more useful for niche operations such as when I require list nesting.

The shame of it is, with the right tweaks this app could be incredible. I guess that would require an entire rewrite though, and this developer doesn't seem open to that. Oh well.

### 3/5 — Very very good . . . but

*2009-10-18, version 0*

Very very good. Been looking for something like this for ages. BUT like so many other iPhone apps, I download them, play about a while then never really use them. I really really want to make great use of this and so I NEED to be able to input loads of data on my pc desktop (not a web interface) and have it sync to the phone. I am not typing in all my data with one finger on the iPhone!
Will pay $50 without blinking to the first outliner app that quietly syncs with my PC desktop via the web. Great apps like this cannot reach their potential if all data has to be entered by typing on the iPhone keyboard. So frustrating.
Also, hating the name Listmonger. Reminds me of Fishmonger. Needs a name like ZenList or TreeList or NoteTree or FractalList or well anything else! Icon is 'ok'. Really hope they develop a desktop app. This could change the way I work. Hope I am not just deleting it in January. Fingers crossed.

### 3/5 — Not really on steroids...

*2009-06-30, version 0*

This is a good, basic list application. It doesn't do anything fancy and it can be a bit cumbersome to use as you have to ensure you're in the right menu to get the function you want, or to see the list you want. Not sure why on earth they think it's on steroids, it's definitely not anywhere near as powerful as other list functions that are available. You can't set dates, move things between lists or anything like that. It's more like a notepad that lets you jot things down and cross them off than an organiser. Which, if that's what you want, somthing simple, is perfect, if you want something clever, buy something else.

### 4/5 — Great App! But latest update a trouble for my iPad.

*2022-09-05, version 5.0*

This is a great App with a lot of flexibility so you can choose every feature or just the ones you want!
Unfortunately, at the last update my iPad version ( which is the one I use the most), was a casualty and all my lists on my iPad vanished. Unable to restore any of them!! At least I have the updated version in my iPhone.

### 4/5 — Smaller text

*2020-10-24, version 5.0*

I really like this app and have been using it for several years. However, the latest version (2020-5) has much smaller text-I haven’t found a way to make it bigger. Please fix. James

### 4/5 — Great APP!!

*2014-09-24*

I use this APP every single day for important info, tasks, movies, shopping lists, etc. It's great for all kinds of lists. I've used it for 3-4 years. Support for this app is great. They really reach out to you to solve the issue.
I have one request: is there a chance in the near future I can synch my iPhone and iPad?

### 4/5 — Great App - could use some features

*2014-02-17*

I use this app a lot. It is stable and works well. There are a couple of things I constantly wish for. 1. When setting a sort order, the program should remember that. Saving the order doesn't seem to do anything.
2. I use a bluetooth keyboard. It would be very nice to add new items with a keystroke "+"

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — I Finally Found the Best App

*2025-03-03*

Prior to switching to the iMac platform, I utilized a list maker that allowed the formation of multiple lists with sorting capacity. ListMonger allows the same abilities, but does it smarter while offering a variety of sorting capacities. Made my day- Two Thumbs up & 5 stars.

### 5/5 — Meets all needs exceptionally

*2022-12-18*

Unlike every other list app I have used, this one is designed PERFECTLY for repeat lists, like my packing list, event planning list, camping list, house cleaning list, holiday planning list. Starting with my clean packing list, I quickly flag every item I need, then hide the unflagged items, resort (by room where I keep them - using the custom field), and set to work gathering things and checking them off. When checked, they disappear, so my list gets shorter and shorter until I’m done! East to clear flags and checks and start over for next time. This app is incredibly well designed. There are many options - lists within lists, priority tags, color coding, date, cost - it simply does it all and does it simply. I stumbled on this years ago, and there is really nothing I can think of that would cause me to use something else.

### 5/5 — The BEST and most versatile list app

*2022-07-11, version 5.0*

I have been using ListMonger for over years. It is the best. It is so easy to create and organize lists. You can color code and prioritize entries. Just get it, you will not be sorry. This app is free to download and ad free, so if you love it, send the developer a tip. If you click on info, there is an option to send a $1, $3 or $5 tip.

### 5/5 — Scroll feature taken away ?

*2021-12-27*

This is absolutely the best list making app out there. I’ve used it extensively for years. I would like to get one feature back however, that used to be there, but has been taken away. The app used to let you touch the title and bring down an active listing of the items in the list. Then you could scroll up and down quickly with your finger to the item you wanted to land on and let go and you were there. Why did you take that feature away ?

To the Developer: Thank you for your quick response. I had not even thought about using the iOS built in feature. That works well, and now I’m good to go with best list making app again.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review and comment. Please note that this functionality is still present, but ListMonger has adapted the newer system-wide standard scrolling behavior that was introduced in iOS 13. When swiping through a long list, a scroll bar will appear along the right-hand side. When this scroll bar appears, touch and hold the scroll bar to select it, then drag it up or down to scroll through the list. You can also tap at the top of the screen, just above the list name, to automatically scroll back to the top of the list. Incidentally, these behaviors will work on many scrolling apps built for iOS 13 and later.

### 5/5 — Simply The Best

*2021-07-03*

I don’t usually write reviews, but here I am. I’ve used this app FOR YEARS. One of the first I ever bought. Every time Apple does an update I’m afraid this little jewel will be left in the dust.

The app is easy to use and intuitive. Add what you need; check it off; rinse and repeat. Filtering you list ( like my “Camping” list) for remaining items is easy. Need to keep track of someone else’s list for your trip (spouse, kids, pets), just make a sublist. Easy.

Did I mention I LOVE this little do-exactly-what-it-says app?

### 5/5 — OMG! It’s working again!!!

*2021-01-05*

I think it was about two or three years ago that this app stopped working and I couldn’t find a way to get support. I couldn’t bear to delete the app, hoping that the developers would fix whatever was wrong. I thought I would do a search for it in the App Store just for the heck of it, and there it was!!!
*** I can’t tell you how happy I am about this!!
It’s been the BEST LIST APP I’ve ever used hands-down and I really missed it. Have been using another one that’s OK, but not on the level of this one.

Thank You Developers!!

### 5/5 — Best shopping list on the market

*2020-11-07, version 5.0*

I am so glad the developer has updated this app. I have been using it since the iPhone 3G, I have tried many others but nothing compares to its simplicity and the power of its flags and checks. Unfortunately the last few (unsupported) iOS versions it was crashing, but it didn’t matter, after trialling many others this app crashing was my preference to the others out there. Now it is supported again there are no crashes and I am in list heaven!

Create a master shopping list, flag an item when you need to buy it. When going shopping toggle flags and only the items you need appear. As you place the item in your shopping trolley unflag it and it disappears from the list. Perfection!

Now I can finally get my wife to download it and use it too.

### 5/5 — Thank you for this update

*2020-10-01*

When IOS 14 came out I thought this app was broken for good. Thank you so much for doing the first update in 6 years. This new update looks and runs great. You guys are the best.

### 5/5 — Love It!

*2020-09-30*

I’ve been using this app since my iPhone 6, I use it daily, and I’m so happy for the update. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Really Nice App

*2017-03-05*

I have been using this app for a long time and am totally satisfied with it. It is an indispensable & powerful database considering it is for a smart phone. I use it for shopping lists and task lists primarily. I like being able to keep lists of categorized regular use items and checking them off as I complete or purchase them. As another user indicated, it would be nice to have a more than one deep search feature. However I personally haven't found a better database app for the money. Thx for a great app - one of my favorites!
