### 4/5 — My favorite so far

*2026-08-30, version 4.4.9*

Love this app just wish they had more Bible versions available

### 4/5 — Swipe for next chapter

*2026-08-15, version 4.4.9*

I would love to be able to swipe to go to next page/chapter. I would definitely give a 5⭐️ rating if added.

### 5/5 — Exactly What I Needed

*2026-08-03, version 4.4.5*

I searched for Simply the Bible and found this is perfect. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Simply the Best Essentials

*2026-07-29, version 4.4.5*

Easy to use Bible App, especially for the technically challenged. The Bible study essentials are on this app and the DISTRACTIONS from the hundreds of unnecessary translations and Bible resources are nonexistent; only the essentials available for your daily Bible study.

### 5/5 — Surprisingly amazing

*2026-07-27, version 4.4.5*

The design of this app is great, and it is what everyone diving deep into the Word needs. Focus on the Word alone and a deep dive into the words. Holy Spirit does the rest. Beautiful.

### 5/5 — The best Bible app.

*2026-07-24, version 4.4.5*

I’m grateful for this app. When I don’t have a Bible in my hands, I have this. I love John MacArthur‘s study Bible but this Bible app is fast, has hard press words studies, and parallel verses are navigated to and from with ease. I usually have this next to me when reading a physical Bible just to go to the parallel verses quicker than flipping pages. God bless!

### 4/5 — Outstanding App!

*2026-07-18, version 4.4.5*

It’s fantastic how simple but also informative the app is. One thing I would recommend, especially for those who have not taken Greek or Hebrew, is a speaker or translator to help pronounce the words.

### 5/5 — Great Bible study app

*2026-07-17*

This Bible with Lexicon is so helpful for seeing what the Greek and Hebrew words are that were translated into English. The Word of the Lord is alive and sharper than a double edged sword.

### 5/5 — Truly Excellent

*2026-07-15, version 4.4.5*

You won’t be disappointed with this app.

### 5/5 — Absolutely wonderful app !!

*2026-07-13, version 4.4.5*

I have been using this app for several years and absolutely love it.
I love the Lexon definitions and especially being able to see all of the word’s occurrences and usages in the Bible.
Plus the option of looking at other translations and how the words are translated there.

Absolutely love the option to add notes, which I use to add additional cross-references to specific words in the text.

Another five star feature with this app is that when you copy and paste a passage, the app doesn’t clutter up the text with verse numbers in brackets like other apps do.
Highlighting is a fun option as well.

Thank you Lockman Foundation for your love for the Word and your pursuit of biblical clarity!!

### 5/5 — Outstanding, Simple, Intuitive, Fun

*2026-07-05, version 4.4.4*

The only Bible app I use. No spam, no pop ups, no commentary.

### 5/5 — My go to Bible Study tool

*2026-06-29, version 4.4.4*

I used to use a strong concordance. I switched to the blue letter Bible. But now the Literal Word Bible app has become my go to Bible Study tool. It’s so easy to use. They even added my favorite translation, the NKJV. I recommend it to every serious Bible student.

### 4/5 — One of the best Bible Apps

*2026-06-24, version 4.4.3*

Almost perfect. Would really love this app to get audio for the translations. Great for daily use.

### 5/5 — The best Bible app

*2026-06-22, version 4.4.0*

This is hands down the best Bible app. No ads, no clutter, just the Word of God.

### 5/5 — Favorite Bible App

*2026-06-20, version 4.4.0*

I have been using Literal Word for around 5 years on a daily basis. It’s far and away the best Bible app available in my opinion. It has my go-to translations (NKJV, LSB, NASB 95, ESV), and offers a quick, convenient, and yet comprehensive search of Greek and Hebrew words, while also offering the ability to turn the app into a “reader” without verse numbers, headings, etc.

So, for times of reading or more in-depth study, this app is a one-stop-shop for me.

### 5/5 — Excellent bible app

*2026-06-19, version 4.4.0*

One of the best Bible apps

### 5/5 — No paywalls and bonus benefit offline access

*2026-06-19, version 4.4.0*

Love this app. Works perfectly with Uversion.

### 5/5 — NKJV Added, It Keeps Getting Better!

*2026-06-18, version 4.4.0*

By far the best Bible app. Super simple yet incredibly powerful. NKJV is known for having some great footnotes so its addition to the app is most welcome. I thought that NKJV would never be added since it doesn’t hold as tightly to a word-for-word translation philosophy but I’m glad it was. My one feature request would be to give a little bit more customization to the styles. Don’t get me wrong, I love the options that are available but I would love if I were able to customize the dark theme to have pure black background. Thank you to the developers, it’s clear God has filled you with His Spirit, with ability and intelligence, with knowledge and all craftsmanship!

### 5/5 — Master Class

*2026-06-13, version 4.4.0*

This app is a master class in how a Bible app should be done. Wonderful stuff.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Beautiful but no multi language

*2026-07-08, version 4.4.5*

I love the app but I want to be in Spanish :(

### 1/5 — Nice NASB app but Please change the dictionary and add strongs reference numbers

*2026-05-29, version 4.3.2*

But it would be helpful to be able to change dictionaries for the definitions of Greek and Hebrew. Like Isaiah 6:2 the word “seraphim” and in Isaiah 14:29 “flying serpent” is the same word H8314. The dictionary separates these two words and has no connection to them even though they are the same Hebrew word.

### 1/5 — Glitch after glitch

*2024-12-29, version 4.2.12*

When you go to history and select it goes back to the last page you were reading, not the scripture you selected, and also bounces straight out of history, so you have to repeat trying to access it. Really frustrating

### 1/5 — Where has the Hebrew and Greek Lexicon gone ?

*2019-09-29, version 2.0.4*

One of the main reasons I was keeping this app was for the feature which allowed you to look up the word in the original language when you tapped on it. But it seems an update had occurred and this feature had been taken away with no explanation given.

### 2/5 — Beautiful layout and design for Bible app

*2025-02-23, version 4.2.12*

does not have Catholic Bible version RSV-CE ‘Revised Standard Edition’ so until they add that version I uninstalled the app.

### 3/5 — Not opening

*2025-11-25, version 4.3.2*

Lately my apps not working it won’t open up

### 3/5 — A few things left out

*2025-05-29, version 4.2.12*

I love this app with the exception of some added thoughts (like loss of eternal life). A few more big factors are that there are no cross references for KJV, and there is no NKJV. I would really love to give this app 5 stars because it's very easy to use and very helpful. With those few added bits, it would easily be the best Bible app by far!

### 3/5 — Love to give 5 stars except for 2 things.

*2025-02-21, version 4.2.12*

App is excellent except everytime I hit the Aleph (toggle between Greek and Hebrew). It won’t work have to close and open app again and I can’t see the curser please make it white instead of blue. Frustrating, please fix this. TYVM

### 3/5 — Great app, but so many bugs

*2023-02-21, version 3.1.8*

Love the app and it’s a very nice layout, but so many bugs which makes it annoying a couple include the following. when searching a verse or chapter and clicking on it most of the time it will take you to a completely different chapter. Say I click 1 Kings 2 it will take me to chapter 19 for some reason. Another bug is that my screen will go half black so I have to fix it by putting my ipad vertical then move it back to horizontal. Not major issues, but there’s some work to be done

### 3/5 — Font features

*2019-06-25, version 1.0.18*

I hope there will be an update to change fonts because it is quite difficult to read the fonts in bold letters

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The simplest kite flies best

*2026-09-02, version 4.4.9*

The moment I downloaded and opened this app I knew the creators took pride in their craft. This is likely the most well thought out, visually pleasing and easiest to use Bible app available today.

### 5/5 — fast and beautiful

*2026-08-26, version 4.4.9*

A great Bible app. Others seem keen to distract you from the word. This one lets you get on with reading.

### 5/5 — Simple yet powerful

*2026-08-26, version 4.4.9*

When I had an Android phone, I discovered this amazing app. No study notes or commentary, just Gods Word and word study. It was missing the NKJV and even though I loved this app, the NKJV is my favorite translation to read from. Some months later and I switched to an Apple iPhone and installed the apps including this one. Imagine my excitement when choosing translation and seeing my beloved NKJV! Thank you for such a simple but powerful app for just digging into God Word and with the word study to help!

### 5/5 — A huge must

*2026-08-25, version 4.4.9*

This app provides you with an accurate interpretation of the ancient Greek, Hebrew words to give a better understanding of the context of a verse. Nothing takes the place of actually reading the word.
I’m Greek but modern Greek is not the same as Ancient Greek. Very few words may be but most are not.
If I had one request is to have this app have an audio ability to read the Bible out loud. My eyesight is fading and I like to listen to God’s Word before I sleep at night.
Great App.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED..!!!!

### 5/5 — Search works great

*2026-08-23, version 4.4.9*

“Search” actually finds the verse I was looking for where other Bible apps don’t.

Being able to see the etymology of all significant words using tap and hold is the feature I never knew I need and wanted.

App is very snappy too, well made. Thank you, dev, great job! 👏

### 5/5 — Bible App of Choice

*2026-08-18, version 4.4.9*

Literal Word is the Bible app I use. My only gripe has been the lack of the NKJV, but now that they’ve added this I have no reason to go anywhere else. It is plain, readable, and customizable to the extent it ought to be.

### 5/5 — Such a simple, powerful and helpful tool for Bible study

*2026-08-15, version 4.4.9*

My previous free app with similar features quit updating and became unavailable. It took some time to find Literal Word, but I am so thankful for it and for all it can do. It is the best I have found for simple Hebrew and Greek lexical searches. Thanks so much to the app creators, and especially to our Creator for speaking to us through the Bible.

### 5/5 — Great Bible study app

*2026-08-09, version 4.4.8*

This Bible with Lexicon is so helpful for seeing what the Greek and Hebrew words are that were translated into English. The Word of the Lord is alive and sharper than a double edged sword.

### 5/5 — The best

*2026-08-07, version 4.4.7*

Undisputed champion of Bible apps

### 5/5 — Any plans for audio integration?

*2026-08-05, version 4.4.6*

Great app, allows for true deep diving into concepts.
