## What is Little Eye?

Little Eye tells you what you're actually looking at.

Paste in an IP address, a domain, a URL, a token, a timestamp, a color, a
barcode - share it straight from another app, type it in by hand, or scan a QR
code or NFC tag - and Little Eye instantly shows you what's inside. No handing
sensitive values to random websites. No context-switching to jwt.io, a WHOIS
site, an epoch converter, or an IP-lookup page.

Detection happens entirely on your device. The network is only ever touched when
you tap an action that clearly says so - a URL fetch, a DNS or WHOIS lookup.
Nothing is uploaded, there's no account, and there's no telemetry.

WHAT IT RECOGNIZES
• JWTs - algorithm, claims, and expiry, decoded offline
• JSON - pretty-printed and validated
• Base64, URL-encoding, hex, ROT13, Morse and more - decoded in place
• IP addresses - offline country geolocation, plus on-demand DNS and reverse DNS
• Domains & URLs - DNS, WHOIS/RDAP straight from the registry, HTTP details
• Timestamps - Unix epoch and ISO dates in human form
• Colors - hex and rgb swatches
• Barcodes & GTINs, IBANs, UUIDs, API keys, coordinates, and dozens more

SIX WAYS TO GET SOMETHING IN
• Paste - tap Paste and Little Eye reads it on the spot
• Share - send text or a link to Little Eye from Safari, Mail, Messages, or any
other app, right where you found it
• Type - enter a value by hand when it isn't on the clipboard
• Scan a barcode or QR code with the camera and see what it decodes to
• Scan an NFC tag to read the links and codes it carries
• Open a file from Files, or an image from Photos

Whichever way it arrives, you can drill down card by card - every result is the
starting point for the next one.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Detection is local. The network is opt-in, per action, and clearly labelled.
• No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking.
• When Little Eye does reach out, it asks the original source directly -
the DNS resolver, the domain registry, the host itself - instead of routing
your data through a third-party website.

LITTLE EYE PRO
A one-time purchase unlocks the network-powered features (DNS, WHOIS, reverse
DNS, URL fetch and more). Everything else - all offline decoding and detection -
is free, with a 14-day trial of the Pro features to start.

Built for backend developers, DevOps and platform engineers, security
professionals, and anyone who spends the day elbow-deep in tokens, links and
logs.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 1.0.19 — 2026-10-20

Wildcard hostnames like `*.example.com` are recognised, and Little Eye can check whether the domain really has a wildcard DNS record.

### 1.0.16 — 2026-10-01

Bluetooth scanning, plus a fresh look.

New in 1.0.16
• Bluetooth: tap the new Bluetooth button to list nearby devices with their maker, signal strength and services. It's decoded on your iPhone and nothing is stored or uploaded. Bluetooth is a Pro feature.
• Identify a device to see which services it offers, its maker, model and battery level, and whether it's a known tracker (AirTag, Tile, Chipolo, Samsung SmartTag). For an AirTag you can also play a sound to find it.
• Choose which kinds of devices to identify, or turn on automatic identification after a scan.
• Filter the list by device type, search by name, maker or type, and sort by name, nearest, newest or type.
• A cleaner device list, with names that read better and more devices recognised, including Windows PCs and Nest alarms and thermostats.
• Little Eye now recognises vCard contact cards and calendar events (vCalendar/iCalendar).

New in 1.0.15
• A calmer dark palette with a violet accent, flat cards, bigger tap targets in the bottom bar, and a redesigned Type sheet.
• Updated the offline country database used for IP lookups (September 2026 snapshot).

### 1.0.14 — 2026-09-17

• Little Eye Pro — a one-time unlock, no subscription — is now available in the app. It covers the network-powered features: DNS lookups and reverse-DNS verification, WHOIS domain registration checks, fetching and auditing URLs, and ISBN book lookups.

• Little Eye now recognises Git, Mercurial, Subversion and other version-control checkouts. Pick a repo folder or a .git/config from Files, or paste config text, to see the branch, remotes, and whether a rebase or merge is mid-flight.

• Copying text as plain ASCII now normalises the rarer dashes to a plain hyphen, and an em dash becomes a single hyphen rather than two.

### 1.0.13 — 2026-08-06
